Greasy spoon diner. Service was fine. Decor is ok. Eggs were fine. Potato's were rubbery and didn't taste very good. I couldn't eat them. Music is very bad but par for New Mexico. Nothing was terrible, honestly, it justt to wasn't very good. It's ok but there's better not far away. I don't expect to be back.

I feel bad downgrading my review of Vick's Vittles Country Kitchen by two stars, because much the good stuff I put in my initial review is still mostly true. It's just that the food is no longer "wow" to me - at all. And . . . well, that's why we're here, isn't it? Plus - no fault of the restaurant - the area has gotten "challenged" enough that I have a hard time finding friends who are willing to come.I've been coming here for years, since before Mr. Vick took over and vastly improved this down-home restaurant. We used to bring friends here often: it's an approachable menu for out-of-town guests and the no fuss space with kitschy decor that puts everyone at ease. Now I have great difficulty getting anyone to come (although I note Vick's Vittles still appears to be doing a bang-up business with lots of folks coming all the time).Sure the lot has always proven safe, but the terrible location has gotten even worse (not going to go into the issues - we all know them). Nowadays when I suggest Vick's, I'm usually shot down by someone in the group because of this - and also because of the slippage in food tastiness. I'll hear, "You know, I _used to_ like it, but it just doesn't do it for me anymore."Unfortunately, I have to acknowledge that I've been notably less enthusiastic about my plates the last few times I've come in; I put it down to "everyone has an off day," but yesterday's visit made it impossible for me to argue the point any longer. Sure, the serving size and pricing were fine, but the food I was served not especially warm (this is three in a row for that strike) and - well, it was really bland. Iowa bland. While Vick's chile has always been a little less picante than in many local places, what I got yesterday (after requesting the spicy stuff) was quite disappointing. The staff is still efficient and hustling if no longer as warm as the folks who were once here. They'll get you seated and take care of you fast. Prices and portions are still fine. But what they've been delivering to me on my most recent visits isn't enough to counter my friends' arguments about "Why do you want to go down THERE?"

I was not fortunate enough to have visited Vic's Vittles when they were doing their infamous breakfast buffet, but their breakfast still hit the spot for me! Their menu, is jam packed so be prepared to look! They have some fun menu items like the tamale omelet smothered in chile! I've only visited during breakfast and would like to try lunch. Although they do have a porkchop breakfast plate that is perfect when you need more than the typical breakfast meats. The porkchop is really lightly breaded and fried too. It has just the right amount of crunch! Be prepared to leave, full.

Love all the old western stuff. I noticed the hostess knew many of the customers by name and their favorite place to sit. That's definitely something you don't see much of anymore. The food was awesome and everything came out quickly which was nice so I could get to my con. I would definitely revisit them

I've been coming here for years especially when my family worked closely with the owner. After years, I have brought my own family to meet the owner to introduce my little ones to but unfortunately (Robert) was not in. We were met with the unwelcomed and accusatory wife. We had no intentions to rattle any feathers. We simple wanted to dine and see Robert. We will NOT be returning especially after how my family was treated. We had nothing to do with any drama- yet she was rude, combative and offensive! Seems like a very petty women.

Super good service and very cute place. I really wanted it to be wonderful, but the food was seriously subpar. I had a French dip sandwich that was so dry even dipping it didn't help.

I haven't had the opportunity to do a review post Covid so here we go. We got here before the lunch crowd arrived, so easy to get a place to sit. Server was quick to bring menus and take a drink order - we hadn't sat down yet. We placed our order - Frito Pie and Eggs Benedict with sausage and Country Spuds. Our food arrived quickly and the quality is what we've come to expect. The Frito Pie had plenty of ingredients in the bowl - I hate when the chili & other toppings are gone but there's a 1/2 bowl of dry chips left. Both Frito Pie & Eggs Benedict were delicious. I'm not big on presentation. We just want good food. The biggest reason we keep coming here is the hospitality & quality of food. The staff is always friendly & the food comes at a reasonable price.

PLEASE NOTE: the are closed on Wednesdays This is run by the same Vic who has the famous place on Osuna that's always busy. It's a western themed place, and pretty far out on the east side of the city so we didn't have this many minutes to wait for a table as we would've if we've been to the one on Osuna. The food's great, and the service is also good.

Server was completely rude, and also supposably the owner, demanded me and my family to leave because my 2 yr old daughter was sitting on the table drinking her apple juice, with my husband in front of her and my son sitting in the booth quietly next to her. She rudely said you need to get her off the table because that's a liability. My husband rightfully asked how is that a liability? The server/supposed owner replied "if you don't like my rules than you can get out! You need to learn how to control your kids!" My husband replied "I was just asking, and should learn how to control your attitude!" And then she said "that's it, you need to get out"! When I asked to speak to a manager another server said that our server was the owner. I found that very hard to believe. I told the server/supposed owner that we've been coming here every weekend, and that was the worst experience we've ever had! She again said "well you need to learn how to control your kids!" We've never had any problems here, and my kids are well behaved. She was not in the right even if she was really the owner! That was out of place and extremely rude service! Apparently this is not a family/kid friendly restaurant after all!
