I've witnessed bugs on the floor. Feces on the wall of a patient's bathroom. I understand that good help is hard to find, but when there is little to no help for these patients, one has to wonder why costs exceed $1200 per day. Food is ghastly with a good amount of sugar in each meal and very little proteins. Beware using this facility as your loved one's health may be in jeopardy. Now there are several patients that have been removed and hospitalized due to an infectious gastro-intestinal illness. Keep your loved ones OUT OF HERE.

Really difficult to review a place like this. I don't live there but I have a dear friend who was recently placed there by his doctor and daughter. When I first heard he was there I was immeasurably sad. I thought this would be the beginning of the end for him. He's fiercely independent and has lived in the home he and his wife built for more than 50 years. He loves his walks and our beautiful neighborhood. However - several months in I am now very grateful he is there. He has some pretty significant senility issues and forgets what he told you ten minutes ago. But his cognition has greatly improved since being here. I think having people around him and folks to talk with has made all the difference. He's so much more lucid, it's amazing. The facility itself is not bad, as these places go. There is the odor of urine, as you might expect, but it's not pungent - I get the impression they work hard on keeping it clean so smell is not an issue. They have a lovely, quite large bird cage with lots of finches. It's fun to watch them and brings a sense of lighthearted life to the place. There's also a beautiful fish tank for residents to enjoy. There's an outdoor area with a walkway around a lovely grass yard and benches all around, as well as tables with chairs and umbrellas. Apparently they have barbecues out there fairly regularly in nice weather. Last time I stopped by to take him to lunch, he was listening to a live violin concert. It was really lovely. I don't know the deeper details because this is my friend and not a family member. But he is quite happy there and I'm so glad his daughter chose this place. Thumbs up!

DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE (or anyone) HERE!!!!This is by far the WORST place you could send anyone, especially a medically fragile person.Roaches, smelly, dirty, under qualified staff, messy staff, uncaring administration.Thankfully, our circle was large enough to have someone with her throughout most of her day. I'm sure she would've died had we trusted them to do their job without follow up.My ELDERLY loved one had pelvic fractures and she was tossed about by UNQUALIFIED and understaffed personnel. They disregarded her screams and her pain. They left her in soiled depends throughout her 1 week stay which resulted in MORE medical issues. THEY DID NOT BATHE OR SHOWER HER THE ENTIRE STAY. They didn't follow dietary restrictions even when we demanded it several times a day. They denied her pain management and made ZERO attempts to obtain her daily medication as well as medication for her severe pain. It took ME calling her primary every day to get any movement. The facility DENIED medical transport to another facility and injured her when one of the CNA's picked her up and plopped her in my car from her wheelchair.I repeatedly saw health and HIPAA violations throughout my 1 week experience with this so-called rehab center. The infractions extended to all other patients at this facility. A member of their staff was observed screaming at a patient out of frustration and scared other patients in the hall. They left their med cart open with bubble packs on top of their med cart, patient information within anyone's view, dirty broken down bathrooms, piss poor food options, zero pain/med management unless you HOUND THEM, and even then, good luck.My loved one would've been better off on their own than this poor excuse for a rehab. My loved one suffered GREATLY and is TRAUMATIZED by this disgusting excuse for a facility.I will CONTINUE to tell anyone who will listen that this facility and any other Genesis property is dangerous and should not be an option for anyone who values life.

Not good at all! If I could give it a 0 stars I would!! Theres mice around and bed bugs. DON Cassandra is terrible with residents one time I witnessed a fall in the patio and she was there instead of her helping the resident she just stood there waiting for other nurses to assist the resident while resident had dirt in her mouth. The times I've been there her kid is always there not that I mind but I think it's unfair since she doesn't let the staff bring their kids when they need to and her kid almost made one resident fall, one day he pulled the fire alarm too because he was playing around they don't have enough staff or staff keep leaving because of her do not being your loved ones here!

Our experience was uncannily similar to that of Matt E.'s here. My 86-year-old neighbor/dear friend/adopted dad was sent here after a week-long stay at Presbyterian Hospital for an obstructed bowel. They supposedly sent him to this facility for rehab, but he received rehab maybe twice in 10 days. When his 88-year-old wife and Home Instead caretaker tried to call the facility multiple times each day to check on him, no one answered the phone. One time, they left his wife on hold for 15 minutes. My opinion is that they want to receive patients' Medicaid money, but they don't want to earn it. I am surprised this place is in business and hasn't been closed down. The food was always cold and unfit to eat. We watched as a staff member brought out the big rolling cart with the food trays on it, and the trays sat there for at least half an hour before anyone started to deliver them to the patients. My friend's wife took their little dog there to visit him a few times, and even the dog spit the chicken out! It smelled rotten. The staff keep the water pitchers under lock and key for some reason. They would not allow any of us to fill his water pitcher with fresh water and ice, but they had a hard time getting around to doing so. His wife had to practically yell at them to get them to provide her husband with fresh water. They also wouldn't allow him to take his medications there, either. He suffers from depression, anxiety and dementia, and many times he was agitated, upset and angry; one time he began crying. His medicine relieves those conditions, but the staff would not give it to him or let his wife give it to him. They told his wife it was because a doctor needed to prescribe it, but she never saw a doctor there the entire time he was there. They bathe the patients only on Tuesdays and Thursdays. My friend, the patient I'm writing about, has dementia, and didn't realize he had clean clothes in a drawer to put on after being bathed. The staff were so inattentive that they allowed him to put on the dirty clothes he had been wearing for three days instead of getting the clean clothes out of the drawer for him.Even the caseworker acknowledged what a hell hole it is there. The employees seem like they'd rather be anywhere but there. As a result, they come across as uncaring and rude. If there is any way you can avoid putting your loved one in this facility, find another way to take care of him or her. They would probably get better care from homeless people in a vacant lot. Everyone we spoke with (patients and their loved ones) said they couldn't wait to get out of there. I think they should put violent criminals in there and let them experience the horrible food, lack of care and hateful attitudes. If I could give this place a negative 1,000, I would, but 1 star is the lowest ranking possible here.

in the last week-EditI had to go there because I fell off a ladder and broke my knee and shoulder. I'm not old, I'm educated, and have worked in the medical profession. I wasn't able to arrange any home health care quickly enough (try doing things on your own with my injuries). I'm not diabetic but the food was high carb and I don't do high carb. I complained and got to talk with someone from the kitchen. That helped but it's still institution food. Half of the staff was ok, the rest were not. I complained to an administrator via my contact at my insurance about two of them. Won't go into details here. Btw, you're only allowed 2 showers per week. I don't like the idea of sharing a shower stall (think steam, moisture, pathogens) with others so did sponge baths. I also got a bedside toilet so I didn't have to wipe down the seat that I had to share with a roommate. They lost some of my clothing in the laundry. My "roomie" was a smoker and reeked of smoke. I was only there a week and checked myself out early. That place was awful, from a professional and personal respective. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Not enough professional staffing, too many nurses' aides, only 1 RN scheduled per shift, and a MD on call most of the time but sometimes there. So if there is an emergency incident, getting someone to you or your family member is quite low. There are not enough qualified medical personnel on staff, especially during the night.

My elderly friend was sent here from Presbyterian Hospital (note: he has top of the line insurance) because he needed physical therapy for a week before going home. The facility does not do ANY physical therapy. They also have not bathed him for almost a week. The food trays sit unattended for an hour before they are given to the patients, so the food is cold and terrible. His insurance requires that he stay an entire week or they will not pay. St. Theresa is just milking him for the money but not providing any care.
