Tonight saw a great show. This small theater at the Fine Art Center at UNM is a hidden gem. The shows are small and the theater is intimate. I want to see other things.

It had been years since I was on UNM campus for a show. ... My cousin and I went to see White Christmas. We arrived early enough to park in the garage closest to the theater. Easy pay station and we were off. We entered the theater along with those attending the Nutcracker in Popejoy Hall. Many volunteers were around to direct traffic and answer questions. We entered Rodey and to our delight had the perfect "middle" seats. We could see everything. White Christmas was an outstanding show!! The musicians were phenomenal, the dancing and acting all brought the spirit of Christmas home! I left there with the feeling of Christmas in my heart and the lingering of those traditional carols still on the tip of my tongue.

Rodey occupies the little sister's room in UNM's premier performance three-bedroom, the place where comparatively lesser theatrical value seemingly takes stage, if you prefer older sis' Popejoy performances (touring Broadway acts), and the youngest brother downstairs, the Experimental Theater, which deals out the latest thespian dope on the street. Rodey is the great stage for the aspiring collegiate star, it's a terrific venue, the acoustics are solid, comfortable seating, great audio and visual facilities, anything you watch in this spot will deliver. (No promises on the acting, however.)Really, if you're looking to this review because you're planning to see a show here, it's a terrific place. Comfortable and expansive, every seat gives a good view, sign up. But it is the middle kid in the family, the collegiate Big Stage. Downstage in the X parental advisories are often in effect. Popejoy is SO refined. Rodey, well, it's sort of the middle ground. I'm glad we have it, and it's so fun to walk the net above the seats. Go on, nudge the folks backstage. They might give you a tour.
