Thanks Patrick! It was great to share some golf. And no, we didn't plan the wardrobe. Just happened!!
Starting off with a great par 5.
After check-in this is what the offer really is about, which, is what I was told on the phone.
My son playing at UNM Championship golf course.
This is the offer that I was talking about in my check-in.
Panoramic view of downtown Albuquerque.

If you are looking for a long and difficult course, this is a good one. They have some very long holes, with lot's of traps around the greens. Greens zoom here, and most approach shots are uphill. when we tee'd off at 7am we played 18, and never saw the cart girl. Apparently it was too early. When we teed off at 4pm we saw her on hole 1, and she was done for the day after that. Apparently it was too late.... They also close the restaurant at the turn relatively early. We were unable to restock our beer supply there so we had to finish the round SOBER! and it really hindered our ability to play good golf...or at least it's my excuse! Not sure why ABQ golf courses seem to have a problem getting the beer to their golfers, but i'd imagine they lose out on a boat load of money because they can't serve adequately. if you go in the afternoon you can play for $40. At $40 it's definitely worth it. At $80 IMO it's definitely not! I think there is 2 holes with water which i would like to see on 5 or 6 at least. I know we are in the desert but at $80 a golfer you'd think there'd be some money for another pond or two. They do have a cool range that I like as well, and the marshal/cart manager has been nothing but awesome! very cool guy.

The UNM Championship Golf Course and facilities are really nice. Is it fair for me to give a 5-star rating when I didn't play golf? I think so as I was running a PGA of America pro fundraiser and the good players in the field love this course. I would hear many of them saying its difficult and mostly fair (Hole no. 10 appears to be the kick-in-the-butt). Walking out from between the modest LOBO pro-shop and the grille, you stand and see a great vista overlooking a good bit of Albuquerque. All the way across the city basin you see 9-Mile Ridge and just to the left are five extinct volcano peaks. To the rear and over the shoulder are the tailing portions of the Rocky Mountains. I did putt a few on the greens and they were very healthy ... and quick. The course ends the Front 9 with a par-5 and the Back 9 with a par-5. The grille had a very nice menu and they did the taco bar service at the close of play - tasty with lots of New Mexican flare. Should I ever have a chance to return to Albuquerque ... with my golf clubs, this is my stop. Play away, golfers! UNM Championship Course is suuuhweeeet!

I truly believe that the University of New Mexico Championship golf course is one of THE best bargains in Albuquerque and possibly the State of New Mexico. Located literally next to the Alb. International airport, UNM Championship is a par 72, 7500+ yard course. I had the chance to play championship when I lived in Albuquerque and again with a good friend during a collegiate conference. Filled with rolling hills, challenging par 3's and some fairly tight lies, this course will play true to rating and test many golfers. I was able to track down a very good price on-line but I know that you can call the clubhouse for reservations and still get a great price. The driving range, club house, pro shop and practice green is second to none. In addition to great golf, I feel Albuquerque has GREAT culture, charm and the best green and red chile enchiladas anywhere. The city and its surrounding areas host great native pueblo entertainment and food.I know many people travel to New Mexico to see and visit Santa Fe but please take some time to explore the Sandia Tram, local restaurants, and great golf.I truly believe all guests will enjoy the city and please go play UMM Championship course. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Weather: 90+ degrees & sunny. Play-date: 9 June 2019Greens: 9/10. Very good. Rolled true. Minor micro-punch was noticeable but was consistent. Green speed was quick!Fairways: 9/10 Very well maintained. Expected number of divots both repaired & un-repaired. Bunkers: 5/10. Poor. Very hard & compacted. Not groomed recently as demonstrated by multiple burrowing critters. Bunker materials very coarse and inconsistent.Tee Boxes: 8/10. Some old un-repaired divots especially on par 3 teeing area.Course cart services: 4/10. Did not see the cart attendant until hole 13. Attendant was very service oriented. We were visited by the cart attendant 1 times during the round. Expected frequency 3x (every 6 holes) in 90+ degree weather.On-site restaurant: 0/10. "Lobos Grill". We asked some 'regulars' at the course about the eatery and were warned not to eat there. Please understand we were not told "oh, it's ok", we were WARNED not to eat there. Similar to a warning about a bad neighborhood or an ill-advised large purchase. This opinion was shared and was without exception repeated by many people at the course. Reviewing the menu; very sparse. (I will not include On-site restaurant in ending calculation but it is noted that the facility needs to work on an acceptable eatery.)Staff; 8/10. Morning check-in staff was acceptable. Processed our pre-paid greens fee quickly. The Starter was VERY helpful. We asked about the greens and he provided approximate speeds, the Rio Grande effects on breaks, all the blind tee shots and a rattlesnake warning. PERFECT! Received some support from the Players Assistant that was very helpful. (see below)Practice Facilities: 4/10. Range balls were NOT provided with green fees. TERRIBLE grass to hit from on range. (Maybe move the ropes this year?) Putting green was true to course conditions.Miscellaneous: Unknowingly we were placed behind a group of 5. We caught up to them on #3. Unfortunately they were very slow and not properly educated on proper course etiquette (allowing a faster group through with many open holes in front). We contacted (cell phone) the on course Players Assistant on hole 14 and he facilitated us playing through. It was obvious the 5-some gave him verbal grief as they gave us less than courteous treatment. Simply a lack of golf etiquette and maturity on their part (maturity does not = age; these people were in their 60s I would guess?). One of the players wanted no part of the issue as he drove off to the next box under a shade tree realizing he had been paired with numskulls. Recommendation to the course; have the on course Players Assistant monitor the groups of 5 throughout the day. Until hole 14, we did not see any on course Players Assistant. After 3hrs of waiting, should we have to actually call the course for support or could 1 or 2 visits from the staff avoided this issue?Course score: 47 out of a possible 70. (67.1% enjoyment factor) Will we return? YES. (FANTASTIC layout hampered by some quality & performance issues that need to be addressed by the staff.)Excellent: 10-9/10Very Good 8-7/10Acceptable 6-5/10Poor 4-3/10Unacceptable less than 3/10

From out of town, My husband loved the course. It was a challenge, fairways were beautiful, greens were tough, you definitely have to be on your game. High requirement and my husband will be coming back to play again. Kid Friendly.

I first played here in 1982. It was a great course then and it was just as good in 2016! The course was in great condition, the staff was professional, and the views all around the course were awesome!!! The layout makes it a tough walk, so plan to ride a cart. A GPS is not required, but very helpful on some holes with blind shots.

I played on a Saturday mid August at noon. It was my first time and I walked up to check in and Eric set me up with range balls and directions. I hit a bucket of balls on the range and teed off on #1 right on time. The track was semi difficult and a lot of fun to play, it had some of the most scenic holes I have seen in a while. The twosome I played with were good golfers and showed me the ropes.I enjoyed my day so much I bought a Lobo polo. Excellent course and customer service
