I had good experiences getting acupuncture at UNM Center For Life. The staff from reception to practitioner are professional. The place is clean and quiet, pretty conducive to getting relaxation and re-centering yourself. The only drawback was....the wait for an acupuncture session is long! It takes 2-3 months out before you can get in. In my case, I had a session and scheduled another follow up 2 months+ out...only to be called 2 days before my appointment that the practitioner was out and no offer to reschedule without much wait. It was a bit frustrating but I think if they are more availability, I wouldn't mind stopping by again.

Very focused on your health & wellbeing. They spend a lot of time listening to you and your issues. Then provide all around care. DC Simmons provide me with handouts and instructions on how to feel better immediately. Adjustment was greatly needed after working from home and not having the best desk setup. Amy Lagrange - Massage therapy was amazing. She spent time with me stretching and learning my limitations. I felt so much better and was relieved of the pain I was experiencing. If you have Chronic pain and are not getting the relief you need, these are the folks to see.

I have been a regular at UNM Center for Life on and off since about 2012. I went in when I was having lots of random stomach and joint issues, and they were the ones who led me to the elimination diet that eventually uncovered my gluten intolerance. I continue to go there because they have an awesome chiropractor. Dr. George Simmons has helped me with a number of random injuries, including a particularly bad flare-up of an old neck injury from high school. He is also very knowledgeable about diets and supplements, which was really helpful in getting everything sorted out.The front desk staff are the nicest, and everyone in the practice I've encountered has been professional and helpful. Love them, highly recommend.

I had a bad experience here. I was excited to find an integrative medicine clinic in town that accepted my insurance. I have been going to an integrative medicine doctor in Colorado who's been awesome but someone who takes insurance nearby would be awesome.I presented my case, a common autoimmune issue that many people have although I have a rare complication, and ... the doctor suggested my main issue was in my head! I never expected to hear the "all in your head" excuse at an integrative medicine clinic, so it was even more hurtful, and it bothered me for a while afterward. Also, he had nothing helpful to add for my chronic condition, aside from the suggestion it was a mind-body problem. Nothing about detoxification, genetic testing, diet changes beyond the obvious, etc. He didn't seem educated about my condition (chronic Lyme and related issues). He kept talking about my situation like it was this interesting theoretical problem like people talk about in the New Yorker, when I'm suffering, and I don't care how interesting it is or what writers are saying about modern medicine in magazines--I want to feel better. I got the impression he wanted to be a writer or spirituality teacher but had to make money so he went into medicine, but he wasn't showing the kind of compassion or interest in what's going to work to help me (as opposed to what are interesting theories about modern medicine that people talk about in TED talks or the New Yorker) that helpful doctors I've seen have. I felt like a theoretical case for him to theorize about ala New Yorker, not a suffering person who needed respect and brainstorming to help me.This clinic might be helpful for people who have never tried an elimination diet or chiropractic or acupuncture, but if you are more seriously ill or a more seasoned patient, you might be disappointed. It's nothing like the integrative medicine clinics I've seen for specialists for my condition (which often are self-pay or out of state).

I have had the very best experiences at the UNM Center for Life. I see Dr. Pierce, who shows an uncommon sensitivity and attentiveness in working with my concerns and issues, and I feel like we are collaborative partners in pursuing my health. He is honest and compassionate, but does speak up when he disagrees or feels that I need something. I also see David Lang, who is a wonderful massage therapist and who is one of the few therapists who has been successful in helping my fibromyalgia. I can't say enough about how much I appreciate them and all who work at this progressive facility!
