Oh how I wish I could write a review about how wonderful the services were at this resource center. But I've been let down time and time again. As an advocate for LGBTQ and a local volunteer for Youth Shelters, I know how wonderful community services can transform a community. My transmasculine son has attempted to go to this center several times and has not only been misgendered but he has been turned away at their youth group activities when I saw them allowing others in. I have tried writing the center and they don't respond to my emails or voicemails. They apparently lack any accountability. To get your child ready, prepared, "binded", dressed, and drive all the way to there (which was far away from where we live) and to suffer that disappointment and rejection to be turned away when they are already bullied every day.... I'm just done!!!!

Transgender Resource Center of New Mexico (TGRCNM) a non profit organization benefitting the trans community of New Mexico as well as the community itself. TGRC provides a safe space for transgender persons of all ages, offers programs for rehabilitation, life skills, as well as medical services to our brothers and sisters. TGRC works with the trans youth to help facilitate smooth and healthy transitions, giving parents counseling on coping skills and what to expect next. Clients can utilize the resource center drop in from 1-6pm. Computers are made available, snacks are provided, and medical care and assistance is all free to those who seek it. The center also houses a program on harm reduction, providing a needle exchange program for those who may be struggling with substances and want to keep themselves safe and clean. The needle exchange program is free to all who want to stop in and exchange. HIV testing and results are free to the public as well, and given in site. Other testing kits are periodically offered so just check before hand if you are interested in getting tested. Snacks and coffee are provided at no cost. TGRC is a non profit running on federal grants, donations, and volunteers. Adrian and Zane the founder and co-founder are fantastic men doing a great service to their community and brothers in sisters in need. The staff is friendly and professional and welcome all. Just the same way we fought for Black men and women to have equal rights, for gay and lesbian marriage equality we can fight for equality of every man and woman straight, gay, lesbian, trans, cisgender, or non-binary. A person is a person, each created in the same way, each with something to give or teach one another, each with a different but vital purpose for the world. Open your eyes and heart, see the world as one.
