We stopped into this place to get out of the New Mexico sun. It seems to be one of only a few places that offers NA cold drinks, such as Italian sodas. Yes they do have some local beers, coffee and tea along with mixed cocktails. They do offer some breakfast items, baked goods and carrot cake by the slice. They also serve up salads, sandwiches and burgers. This place has some outdoor seating which faces the public parking lot directly next to them. They do offer free water on their patio. They also have public restrooms. Connected to this bar is a really cool specialty grocery store. It has lots of herbal remedies, frozen meat, local artisan breads, aromatherapy items, local seeds for $6, artisan soaps and local honey. Definitely a nice place to cool off after walking through Old Town.

Hands down the best breakfast burrito I've had in NM, it shouldn't be this good. Also, everything else is so generously flavorful and made with love. The BLT is also to die for. There's no reason to go to any other place in Old Town for breakfast or lunch. Oh and the brownie!!

Heard some folks talking about their beef stew when I was walking around so I figured I'd go in and try it. It was solid but nothing to really write home about. Beefy, green chili. Came with tortilla chips that were weirdly difficult to chew, but not in a stale way? Even some time in the stew wasn't enough to soften them.

Another wonderful day in central New Mexico. Join Tom Neiman, Jim Tritten, and some of the boys from the VA Creative Writing Group as they venture into the heart of old Albuquerque. "Old Town" was the center of the metropolis until the railroad came and built a station in what was then called "New Town." We visited Tiny Grocer ABQ, which is directly south of the Albuquerque Museum between San Felipe and 19th and north of Old Town Road. Plenty of parking with no meters. Why would you go there? Because Tiny Grocer ABQ is a great community partner and doubles as a bistro (with superb burgers) and a marketplace. The friendly owner and staff are featured in our YouTube video report. Just click on the following link and enjoy watching us enjoy ourselves with the executive chef who rose to our challenge to create the best burger he knew how to make. It was G-R-E-A-T! https://youtu.be/cpUrVkT_Fsc?si=JevuLBA7HgWtIPX_

This is my second time here to dine in. And I just have to say both times it was just a big okay. And never great. I can't quite pinpoint it, but for the lack of flavor, it is incredibly expensive. Two 8oz non-alcoholic drinks and two meals cost nearly $50. It's a very casual place too so can't quite marry the price tag and the atmosphere. The staff has always been very nice, so I appreciate that.

I really like this place. Very friendly staff, local and healthy food options, a nice herbal shop section, nice natural apothecary products.Good hot beverages, GF baked goods. They used to have their own menu that I loved, which I miss. There is now a new restaurant serving their own menu that does not speak to me as much, but still good.Thank you!

Kinda disappointed- the good: coffee drinks were great! Pastries were great! I had a great tahini scone that was perfect with my chai latte. I would totally come back for those two things. The bad - I got a grilled cheese and soup. There was only one soup - Hungarian mushroom- great! I love mushroom soup. This had no flavor or seasoning - not even salt. The dried mushrooms were still hard and chewy and there was little to no cream. The sandwich was also super bland. The description said it came with green chile, chimichurri sauce and greens. Mine was nothing but bread and cheese. I would have told them but it got busy right after we ordered so I didn't want to bother them. I work in the area so I will try them again probably because the place is cute and cozy and also has outdoor seating. Hopefully I just caught them on an off day.

If you are on your way to a great day in Old Town stop in Tiny Grocer, next to Albuquerque Museum. The Ihatov pear/ pepper french toast is exceptional and red chile ( find the recipe on TG website) breakfast burrito competes with the best in the Duke City. Piñon coffee please, and served by a great staff. Thanks Liz.

KNIVES TO GRINDEvery first and third Monday an 88-year-old man comes into the "tiny grocer ABQ", at 1919 Old Town Road NW in Albuquerque, laden with boxes of scissors and knives, from red pocket knives, to a large hunting knife in a leather sheath. He settles down in his usual spot in this small store with his grinding stones already in place where he will sharpen your knives for free. He is there from 11am through 1pm. Doc is accompanied by his lovely wife who enjoys talking with the customers. This genial gentleman, wearing a black cowboy hat and one of his collection of large Indian necklaces (often bought from local Old Town vendors) will tell you what he thinks of your knives. I had taken three small ones and was complimented for not washing them in the dishwasher though one of them with a worn blade was deemed "on its way out." He gives advice and information about sharpening them yourself with a rod (metal just repairs rough edges, but a ceramic tool will sharpen) and in minutes he hands you back sharp knives, the blades protected by blue tape for the ride home. Sadly, these ancient skills seem to be few and far between, although I think blacksmithing is still being practiced around here. I thank Doc for the generous sharing of his time and expertise. As I am handed my now sharp knives I am urged to "come back again." There are more knives in my kitchen drawers so I probably shall.
