The Range Café

Happy New Year to all, and decided on The Range for dinner tonight Trying to break some bad eating habits for the month of January and you might think The Range was a bad choiceNot! Had their Mediterranean salad and i was honestly impressed.Yes i had to ignore the awesome dessert case on the way in and Green Chile strip appetizer on the tableBut that is salad was plenty for me.Solid service at The Range is always a nice evening out.

This is an update to a previous 5-star review. The Smash Patty Melt is perfect, absolutely perfect. Two patties make it a full meal by itself. We enjoyed a side of chips and salsa - they are just the way they should be: fresh blue and yellow corn chips (again, a heaping pile) and chunk, savory fresh salsa. Such a great place for comfort food!

This has gotta be the most popular restaurant in town and there's a lot going for it here. They have a lounge in back with a bar and music stage. They have lots of artwork on the walls that you can purchase and a gift shop directly across from the checkout. One thing that really drives people through the door here is their very reasonable prices. I had their fantastic double meat smash burger with bacon, mushrooms and swiss. It was worth every penny! My 3 guests absolutely loved their entrées. One thing that's really unique is that they serve your entrée on Fiesta ware. They definitely have the formula down here, great prices, great food, and great service. When it's time to check out, they'll bring you a handhold device with the suggested tip amount. Definitely a place I'd come back to. Check out the photos below for the final touch.

My partner and I have both been the range several times at multiple locations and always been satisfied. I had been the Bernalillo one before, tho my partner hadn't, and in the past it was an excellent experience. This time, the service was great, and the venue is still a unique and fun environment, the food was... edible. The lack of seasoning and flavor was unconscionable. I had one of the blandest burgers of my life, and my partner had fried breading with a flavorless meat textured filling (Chicken fried steak). Not an awful experience. Just very disappointing.

One of my favorite places for breakfast in ABQ. The piñon pancakes are so good and the red and green are both great! Service is fast and friendly. The decor is so cozy and fun to look at!

This is a charming diner with a New Mexico twist. They have a great dessert selection. If you order dessert first you get 10% off your main dish. It has an eclectic yet cheerful ambiance. The service was decent overall.

So, I 've been here maybe 3 times since my original review, and always mid-week around 4 pm. Today, however, I came at 5:30 on a Friday with 5 friends. We were meeting to eat and then enjoy a band in the Lizard Lounge room within the cafe. Well, we could not get into the Lounge because all of the tables were reserved. Please know that apparently you have to book a reservation for the lounge 2 days in advance for a band night. We were seated near the entrance and got served by a new waiter - he was quite nice and accommodating. We ate and hoped to hear the band. Our bills came and we paid them and then sat for about 15 minutes to listen to the INCREDIBLY LOUD BAND PLAYING IN THE LOUNGE AT THE BACK OF THE PLACE. YES I AM SCREAMING TO DEMONSTRATE HOW LOUD THE BAND WAS AND THAT WE WERE ACTUALLY HAPPY NOT TO BE IN THE LOUNGE. Also, want to say that while our meals are usually pretty yummy tonight they were just ok. All sic of us felt a little let down. The special nachos were not great, the meatloaf - not good, the other entrees were ok. I guess it can be hit or miss here. We will come again but will refrain for being there when bands play.

I normally don't review places that I don't get into but making an exception here. Walked in got our name on the waiting list. 10-15 m wait. Waited 30. Noticed that they serve at the bar. They said first come first serve. Spot at the bar in the back. As a courtesy I took my name off the list. Got back to the bar and a list was holding 4 seats at the bar -Well ok, headed back to hostess stand (1 min later by the way) and asked to be back on the list. She said sure, but you are now at the bottom of the list. I said really???! She said yes. No exceptions. Wow - walked out. Unbelievable

We had dinner yesterday at the Range in Bernalillo, we don't have many restaurant choices in Bernalillo and far Rio Rancho NW... we've eaten here before and had fiascos, but we thought we give it another try...first we had to wait for the hostess to finish talking to her friend to get seated, but a waiter came and sat us. I ordered the meatloaf with mixed veggies and gravy ...and sorry I did, the "mixed veggies" was a load of disgusting looking cauliflower in pieces, it was cold and disgusting, the plate had no garnish whatsoever, for $17 you'd think maybe they could care a little more to make their customers dining experience an enjoyable one... we had quit going so we're quitting for good now...
