The Paleta Bar

We came in a little after 2 on a Tuesday and the sign on the counter said to ring bell for service. We saw an employee on the painting side of the business but didn't think he was the only person working. We rang the bell and nobody came around. We waited a few minutes and then rang it again. Eventually the employee came from the other side and said he was getting painting spaces set up for the group in the lobby. He wasn't overly friendly - certainly not what we have experienced in the past from Desiree and Miguel - but he wasn't impolite either. I ordered my usual (taro with full dip milk chocolate and piñon) only told to be told they no longer have piñon. I asked if this was at all locations or just theirs. He said he didn't know. I asked if it was permanently removed from the menu and he said he didn't know. I ordered pistachio as a substitution, but when I looked at the pistachio bin, I saw it was mostly dust. One side was dipped in the dust and the other got a partial covering of nuts. I'm not sure why he didn't scoop the nuts on top, but I think he must have noticed there weren't many nuts because he proceeded to cover the whole thing in more milk chocolate to mask the lack of nuts and the prevalence of dust. I tried to tell him there were very few nuts on the bottom side and he ignored me and moved on to taking another order. I'd love to see the employees here get more info on the availability of toppings and make the paletas the way Desiree makes them - with care and attention to detail, like she is making each one for herself. Hoping to give this place the higher rating I think it usually deserves on my next trip.

Such a great experience with Desirae and Miguel today. I love that Desirae talks to every person and if you have any questions, she's got the answers and suggestions. We had the cucumber limeade, strawberry cheesecake paleta, lime paleta with tajin and took home a 6pk of different flavored paletas. Miguel was super friendly and let us sample any paleta we wanted and ended up with some I would have never thought I would get had I not tried them. Would I recommend them, 100 percent. I can't wait till it gets warmer to hang out on the patio

One star because I've This is the second time this has happened at this location and I'm sad because she's I've never been able to try this place after all the constant hype I see about it. Came into town excited to show my husband who is a non- New Mexican how we do things. We walked in and no one was there but there is a sign that says "ring for service" so we rang and waited. We waited about 5 minutes and another group of people walked in. Awesome, now maybe someone would show up. These people walked in back and we could hear them chatting with someone, so we waited some more. Another customer walked in and another 10 minutes passed. We finally gave up as we had to go and as we were leaving we were greeted with a "I'll be right with you". When we left we saw them helping the others that had piled up behind us. We understand help is super hard to come by and we all have to be gracious to one another but this was just disappointing, especially since this was on my list of places to go since I was back in town. I'll probably try again because I never learn my lesson, but unfortunately it won't be until next year when I return back to NM!

Best paleta bar in town!! Customer service is on point and the manager oscar was very sweet and made sure we got what wanted! Very cute paint lounge connected for fun!! Definitely recommend if your around :)

Super good, especially the ice cream. When there with five people and everyone loved it. A fun take of the famous 'Balboa Bar' from Newport, CA.
