Unfortunately the service was terrible. Someone from our table had to get up and request someone to wait on us. We were in the back area and there was only one other table in the room. The gal who finally waited on us was delightful but rarely came back to check on us. I had to ask 3 times to get waters for the table. I had to go find my on own to go box. We were ignored most of the time. The place has a nice atmosphere and a good beer, wine and cocktail menu. The burgers were good, the tacos were ok and the frito pie wasn't very good at all. Not much more to say about it.

I've been coming here for years and always order the fish and chips--my husband and I used to love this place. There's a small, bald man who's always around (I think he might be the manager?), and he used to greet my husband every time we came in. But since my husband passed, he hasn't acknowledged me once. It's a real shame--makes the place feel different, and not in a good way.

Definite downgrade of my feelings about The Horse & Angel Tavern, I'm sad to say. My wife and I have been coming here for years, considering it a decent place (that's not too far away from our Foothills house) where we can find decently priced food and good service. Not thrilled with the TVs everywhere or the loud customers (all pretty old, actually) we'd encounter about half the time, but it was what it was. The patio was nice with the summer misters and the service there was just as good as at the tables inside. (Inside there's a long bar, a lot of high tops and a few low tops.)My wife still likes it, and she goes there with her brother and her friends fairly often - she says the service is still "on fire" during the daytimes. Me . . . I've been avoiding The Horse & Angel because that hasn't been my experience. I used to carry on about the food to people I'd take there: "You won't believe what you get for the price. It's not the best in the world, but it's solid and the place is a well-oiled machine!," I'd rave. Nowadays (judging from my last several visits), I feel like the quality of the food has declined notably, the quality of the service has definitely slipped and the food prices are no longer especially good for what you get (I'd note that drink prices are still pretty reasonable - I suspect this is a big draw for my wife's brother and friends). After last night's goofy visit (and I won't get into it - mistakes happen and the sweet-but-overworked server did everything she could to make it right), well, I just think I won't be back for a while. There are too many nearby equivalent places that serve better food at equivalent prices and have much better service. The Horse & Angel is still _okay_. But these days it's just not a place I'd ever recommend . . . and, unlike in years past, it's certainly not a place to which I'd introduce a friend.

Came to watch a football game with some friends, and I was recommended to give this local place a try. The food was good and we liked the variety of options on the menu. I enjoyed my chicken fried chicken new mexican style and would get it again. My bf had an open face burger. He liked it but wished he could sub the rice for fries. We ended up ordering a side of green chile cheese fries, which was a better choice. The chile is not hot, but the red had the most flavor.Service was a bit slow, given it was a game night, but we were not in a hurry to leave. Overall, we enjoyed our food and drinks. Wish there were more local drafts or local drink options, but they did have a nice variety on the menu. Nice sports bar to meet with friends or watch a game solo.

I had the Alfredo green chili pasta. I have to say it was the worst dish I have ever tried to eat in any restaurant. I am 86 and over the years I have eaten at hundreds of restaurants. Usually at Horse and Angel we have one of their burgers or excellent salads but I wanted to switch it up last night. First of all, there was no Alfredo sauce on the plate, just some curdled dairy product that was unidentifable. There was a bit of green chili on it but the pasta itself was some dried out spaghettini, very thin pasta that was obviously sitting around for days. I will go back to my usual great salads and burgers but this is just a warning: DO NOT ORDER THIS PASTA DISH!!!

We rarely go there anymore because of the slow service, but would really like to support a local business. Love the ambiance and food is just ok. I can't tell if anyone is managing the place.

I come here probably once every couple months. I used to really love it but unfortunately service has taken a significant dive downwards. Bartenders seem to be really bothered to serve you. Not friendly at all. Even the manager who used to try to engage somewhat seemed to snub us. I doubt I'll ever return, which saddens me as I really liked their food.

The food was good! Some of the best sweet potato fries I've ever had. The service was great, she was so sweet. The vibes inside were obviously very much a sports bar feel. Cool decor though!

Let me start with the place: cozy, well appointed, large bar, lots of drafts and bottles to choose from, if you can get served...1/5 The food: Blue cheese burger special was a frozen patty over-cooked, never seasoned. Kitchen or server ignored my request for no tomato (got a whole garden) and never the onion. Tasteless, and run of the mill. Slaw watery and obviously not made in house.0/5 The service: if you're not a regular, or flirt with the barmaids, forget service. Two young ladies more occupied with their phones and flitting about with regulars than serving. 10 minutes to get initial drink both times, follow up drink took getting up from my seat and hunting her down. Just abysmal.Would not return after the two tries.

Food is passable but staff is always disappointing. Especially the ignorant, unintelligent, rude and condescending bearded guy checking ID's at the front.
