We had our wedding dinner catered by Gateway. Pete was so easy to work with which was a huge relief because we aren't from this area. Our food was delivered on time, service was great, and the food was amazing! The prime rib was perfectly cooked. The au jus and horseradish sauce were excellent. Veggies, Mac and cheese and potatoes were great side choices. Extra food (and there wasn't much!!) was left with us and it was just as good the next night.

Still has the same western decor without all the previous taxidermy. Used to be five stars but has dropped to 4 stars since it was sold and changed from Avery's to the Gateway. Seems like the staff is constantly changing. Food is still decent and the best bbq on the mountain. However, service has gone downhill. The last two times, they've left things out of our order and I had to go back to remind them.

Good food selections (about the only good ones in this lame part of Arizona) and cool bar attached, but they ruin it with how slow their service is. Never waited so long for our orders when no one else was ahead of us and they served a group before us that arrived after we did. I let them know directly and if I come here again and it happens we are making them void our orders. Get it together, please!

I had their Bbq Reuben. Amazing! Toasted Texas toast, thick layers of smoked pastrami, sauerkraut and coleslaw. I had never tasted something so awesome. The people working there are very nice and helpful. Nice western design inside and out. Honestly surprised I have not stopped in sooner.

We tried The Gateway after the movies on Saturday. They did not disappoint. Good BBQ for up here. Good sized portions. The meat was tender & juicy. I had their Carolina pulled pork sandwich and my hubby had the beef brisket. They give you extra sauce on the side. Sandwiches normally come with chips. We upgraded ours: I had their mac & cheese and hubby had their baked beans. Both were excellent. Will definitely come back here. The live music in the bar was a plus!!

It's with a heavy heart I write this post. For years I have eaten here for.erly know as averys. Last year they switched a d the food was good. But tonight missed. Brisket was tough. Pulled pork mushy, ribs were not set and really wet. Sausage was good. Mac n cheese was very stiff. Pizza was under cooked on bottom and crust brunt. Some areas looked as if they pulled crist off that was over burnt. No sauce barely. Maybe the cheese was a mottz provolone mix but very very greasy. Pizza I give a 4.3. Hood for a bar pie but that's about it. BBQ was a 3.1 and I feel that generous. Service was great everyone was nice and helped. They were about to have a live band and the decor is rustic and great.

I think it all depends on when you eat here. We have eaten here two times previous to this and the food was absolutely delicious. The brisket was falling apart on the fork perfect. Except for the bbq chicken. It was super dry. But today, Tuesday, for lunch, the brisket is super dry. I think maybe it's left over from the weekend and was not thrown out as it should have been. Imho, I would rather throw out some dry meat than lose customers.

James made the best St Louis style ribs that I've ever had the pleasure of eating. The meat just falls off the bones and the ribs are done to perfection! I highly recommend people come and try his cooking. You'll never find anywhere better.
