Took a chance on this place and it paid off!I was moving to ABQ from the east coast and needed something that was convenient, affordable, and safe and this place has been all three. I moved out today and really wanted to be sure to write a review and show my appreciation. The management has been awesome and every time I had an issue it was handled. Clean space, affordable pricing, and utilities included? You can't beat it. The only word of warning I'd say is that the Internet is pretty much useless and the laundry facility card machine is never working lol. But those were no biggies for me.All in all, it was the perfect choice for me. Thanks for making my transition to ABQ as seamless as it was.

So, I have lived in 3 different states and at a number of apartment complexes. I have never had a problem until I moved here. This is a summation of my experiences at the Girard Apartments. 1) Black widow infestation. I have killed 5 black widows in the buildings North exit. I also had to deal with a widow egg sack and as of yesterday another widow has chosen to call the doorway its home. I reported seeing a black widow in my apartment months ago and managements response was to write me up because "you reported a spider in your apartment." They did not even spray after my initial sighting which is probably why there is an infestation now. 2) Property/vehicle Theft- When I moved in, management failed to notify me of vehicle thefts and burglaries occurring in the parking lots. I found out from 1 neighbor that their scooter had been stolen and from another that their car had been burglarized. Last night my vehicle was stolen from the back parking lot. I also had a fairly expensive Computer Engineering Field programmable gate array delivery stolen from the complex lobby( had to have it delivered there because my door buzzer has not been fixed). When I reported this to management the manager's response was to launch into the complex " not liable" speech instead of expressing concern and notifying residents of the theft issue. 3) Apartment Maintenance- My door buzzer has been broken for almost a year. Management has not yet fixed it after numerous complaints. It took over four months to replace the burned out lights in the main hallway. As of today, they have not replaced the burned out light in the front parking lot. 4) Flooding in building 1520- So, if you tour building 1520, please take the time to look at the North/ side entrance (under the stairwell) if you look, you will see that a portion of the rear retaining wall has been removed. When It rains heavily, the apartments on the northern side of the building are flooded. 5) Slow dead animal removal -- It took over two weeks after the initial reports of dead pigeons in the back parking lot for all carcasses to be removed, as a result, green bottle flies have come into building 1520. 6) Internet-- The complex offers free internet; however, in the evenings, and when you seem to need it most, it often fails. I have had to report numerous outages. If you need to connect remotely to a linux server for your academic work... this might be a problem. I have been prevented from uploading or working on assignments on multiple occasions because the internet is either down or extremely slow. 7) Unresponsive management for 1410 and 1520. On numerous occasions, Management has not been around during their listed hours. This has even happened the day before rent was due. The clock chart on the door showing when they will be back has also often been inaccurate. If you call them, you are directed to an answering service.Although I cannot tell you what to do... If you are looking for a safe and quiet place to live in this area as a student or general resident, please look that this company/ complex with increased scrutiny.

I have lived in Albuquerque for 5 years and have been in a number of different types of living situations - apartments, condos, houses, etc. I found the Girard Apartments to be one of the most ideal of all of the places I have lived for a number of reasons. I am a graduate student so having something low maintenance, close to campus, and affordable were my top priorities. The furniture and appliances that come with the apartments are clean and nice looking, with the fridge, microwave, oven and stove looking like new. The shower is also very nice with great water pressure. There was plenty of space to keep all of my stuff. Utilities are included so writing one check a month to pay for all of my expenses is a load of responsibility off of my shoulders. While the internet could be faster, I was still able to stream Netflix and take care of all of my work responsibilities with no problems. I have told many an incoming graduate student to consider these studios for their time in Albuquerque. Julianne is so friendly and I really felt like I was living in part of a close-knit community here. The new wine bar across the street and a coffee shop within walking distance is a major bonus. If I ever need to return to Albuquerque to finish up my work, this is the first place I will look.
