The Cleanery

I moved in Albuquerque a few years ago and couldn't find a dry cleaner that I loved. The Cleanery picks up and drops off, and they do excellent alterations, too.

I have been a big fan of the cleanery. Infact i used them all the time and ran to them when I moved back to NM!I realized that they started charging more for their services with out stating it up front.On my french cuff shirts they charged and extra dollar but did not not state this. However the extra charge did not include folding and pressing.When I called to address this, they person I spoke with said they would handled this, but this means travelling to the location (again) and dealing with the situation.Even if I was ok with this, it means that I need to spend close to $6 per shirt.Unbelievable!!!!

The cleanery is great! It's tucked inside of a cute little shopping center in NE Heights. The owner + staff is SUPER nice, always welcoming!They take such good care of my garments + house rugs etc. Pro Tip: If you live in a house in the surrounding areas, they will pick and deliver (door to door). They don't do delivery to apartments at this time. I'm renting but I don't mind dropping and picking up, they are always so friendly. Grade A service! So glad I found this place. Also, they always help me carry my things to the car. Great cleaners that knows how to care for all kinds of fabrics and you can trust your expensive garments with them.

Overall, they have done a great job over the many years we have used them and are very easy to do business with. The pick up and delivery service is very reliable. The only issue we've seen is a tendency to "lose" garments (we suspect some possible theft). That can get expensive when you can't give them the details for the item (brand, price, etc) so they don't compensate you for their screw up. My wife's clothes (frequently bought shopping while traveling) disappear more than mine. Very strange. My wife now takes photos of every garment we send so she can document the losses. Hard to see what was once a very good service provider lose its way operationally. Sadly, we're looking for a better alternative.

Posting an update to the saga of a missing D&G dress. It is unfortunate how far from grace this business has fallen. Used their services for over a decade. Had one other issue that was resolved above my satisfaction. This last issue, where my dress was lost, resulted in the manager questioning if I had dropped off the item, requests for ownership calls ignored and was not offered anything for the loss. Have found a new provider due to the shocking poor customer service.

Got quoted $10 per pair of jeans to patch the back pockets and got charged over $50. I am all for paying for the services that I receive, but to get a bill for almost triple what I was quoted is a little beyond. When I asked about it I was told "that is why we don't usually quote repairs". Understandable if additional problems presented during the repair, but that was not the case with these. I will not be going back; at the very least a business should be able to stand by their quote (or be able to explain what changed) with more than a shoulder shrug and a "that's just how it is".

I absolutely LOVE The Cleanery!! We have used their cleaning expertise for 30 years. Wonderful staff and so personable and helpful with cleaning problems on clothing or other household items. Wouldn't go anywhere else!!

Yeah, so sorry to rate this place low. But I took some things in for ironing. When I picked it back up, they charged me their ordinary cleaning fee. Dummy me for not asking the ironing prices, but shame on the intake clerk for not telling me this up front. Spent $110 for ironing, which I needed done because I had just moved to ABQ with a sick husband. The manager came out and explained, very dismissively, that "all our cost is in the ironing, cleaning or not." Well okay, dearie, and I will NEVER be back.
