We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the museum. The art is interesting, but the house and studio are the real draw. They were working on construction of a new gallery. I'm sure that will be amazing as well.

Excellent small museum! The backstory of the house and the artist is fascinating and gives insight into so many things-immigrant life, making a living as an artist, complicated family relationships, and the early development of a community of artists in Taos. Take the guided tour, which adds so much! There's a small but worthwhile gallery in a separate building as well as a well-curated gift shop. Within walking distance of the Taos Plaza.

The beautiful former home of artist and wood carver Nicolai Fechin is the home to the Taos Art Museum. Fechin moved with his family to Taos in 1927 to try to cure his tuberculosis. Over the course of the next six years, he expanded his home and carved staircases, doors, fireplace mantels, furniture, and a religious altar for his renovated house. Unfortunately, despite all of the work that he did to remodel his home, his wife divorced him and he moved with this daughter to LA. After his death, his daughter helped establish the home as a museum. As the Taos Art Museum, the home serves as the backdrop for art shows. During our visit, there was an exhibit of Marjorie Eaton paintings.Access is limited to 10 guests per time slot. Only four people were in the museum during our visit. Masks required as well as social distancing. NARM reciprocal benefits are honored.

Beautiful art, lovely woodwork, and in places stunning architecture. The creaky cherry floors and quiet atmosphere make the house feel enchanting and sacred, especially Eya's room (pictures attached). I particularly liked the 'Portrait of Father Fishing'.

Beautiful museum and property. It's the former home of the artist, Nicholai Fechin who lived from 1881-1955. The house itself is a place I would love to call home. It's well designed and has a terrific feeling inside. The artwork is spectacular - both Fechin's and the visiting exhibition we saw in the studio when we were there. The gift shop is charming and the restrooms are clean. There is plenty of parking and it's just located off the Main Street - just before you hit the Wynn hotel. A museum well worth visiting. We were just walking in Taos and saw a sign that said, Museum. We strolled in and we're glad we did.

Amazing woodwork on this old home that duals as a museum. Currently, Doel Reed is the exhibition artist whose work is equally amazing. I believe this is the last month for this exhibit, but the house/museum alone was worth the $10 admission price to me.

Wonderful museum housed in a historical home handcrafted by the artist Nicolai Fechin. His portraits are arresting, including one of General MacArthur and the home and studio are wonderfully preserved masterpieces. The staff are extremely knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Beautiful grounds as well.

This museum is astonishing. The decorative details of the house blew away my fiancé and I, both avid art lovers. The upstairs bedroom took our breath away. A delightful morning was spent here.
