Taco Sal Restaurant

Honestly this is the best green chili in town. Its a unique local spot and the owners are kind. I haven't gotten anything so far I didn't enjoy here.

They were pretty busy when we came in . They only had one waitress working so we had to wait about 15 minutes for our waters. The food was ok , I had a breakfast burrito and my son had a quesadilla he said it was just ok. This was my second time here and it wasn't as good as my first time. A side note I went with about 6 other people a few weeks ago, we got there before they opened so we waited outside. They were supposed to open at 11, we left at 11:10 because they still weren't opened

If I am being honest, I have driven by the corner of Menaul and Eubank too many times, and, I've seen Taco Sal and the thought of stopping has crossed my mind too! After a morning of estate sales and thrift shopping my boyfriend and I were in the area and he wanted to Taco Sal. He had also never been, so I said, what they hey, lets go!The strip mall where you find Taco Sal is, well, a little run down, I am not sure what else is open in there...I think there is a Pink Rhino nearby, and a barber shop. The parking lot was a bit sparse when it comes to cars, so we parked close to the entrance.We were sat right in front of the window in the front of the restaurant, perfect for people watching. There was only one server on shift during our visit. He seemed to be handling the tables, phone orders and to go orders as well. He was very busy, but he also accommodated us, and kept us informed and didn't make us feel forgotten. Our service was outstanding.We ordered chips and salsa, sodas, and our plates. A combination plate for my boyfriend and I got the taquitos plate and an ala carte taco. I can't say much for the combo plate, other than he liked it. Buuuuuuuut, my taquitos, were delicious! Taco was alright, but, I devoured the taquitos. They were generously filled and came with the perfect amount of guacamole and sour cream. Not only was my tummy happy, I was happy when we left too. I'll be back for more taquitos. Maybe I will try something else too.

This restaurant has been in ABQ for longer than most of us, so they're doing something right. From my visit, I think those things are their base foods - we tried chicken enchiladas, chile relleno, tamales, and ground beef tacos - all wonderful. 10/10, no notes. It's back-to-basics home style New Mexican (except I'm willing to bet they didn't go back - they've never left), and with many of our classic NM restaurants becoming too commercialized and loosing the authenticity in their recipes (looking at you, El Pinto), this is refreshing. Unfortunately, I felt like the sauce (both green and red, because obviously) tasted like it was... canned? and weirdly condensed? It had a nice kick, but a strange flavor I couldn't place. Perhaps it was the same strange flavor lent to their ice from clearly not cleaning the ice machine properly...*sad face*The Service is incredibly friendly, but...odd, in a way that only an old school restaurant can be. When we came into the restaurant, we were greeted and told to sit wherever we like, but 60% of the available tables had just been left with dishes stacked from whoever ate there whenever that was. You could tell getting to the bussing of tables was not a high priority, nor was checking on tables, seeing if anyone needed anything, or checking anyone out. It was definitely a, we seat you, take your order, bring it to you & you're in charge of managing yourself from there out. Most of the tables' condiments/salt & pepper/ and or sugar packets was random and clearly not being restocked. In some cases, just strewn about on the table. Not necessarily a terrible thing, but definitely a kind of style you only find in old school places and that gives a strange overall atmosphere. The décor has maybe been stapled to the wall since they opened the place, it doesn't feel dirty necessarily, but it doesn't feel clean. Its the kind of situation that makes you question the cleanliness just enough to not feel fully comfortable. Overall, I was unfortunately left not knowing how I felt about it. I don't think I'd go back, but I don't think I'd object if someone wanted to eat here...and I think they might like it that way.

Looks can be deceiving this place is really good they always are making fresh food always good service it's kind of like a little hidden gem in my opinion they're red and green chili is on point and their sopapillas are good I definitely would like to see the parking lot a little Fuller

Came here several years ago and loved it. Came back recently and while it was good, I didn't enjoy it as much as I did before. I'd give it another shot for sure though, my daughter loves the enchiladas here. The prices are pretty good for the portion sizes.

Me and my partner went here today 11/23/21 Only cause he said the food is better in the restaurant so I said okay we got there around 10:50 They open at 11:00 so we Get in and understand they just opened so we take our seats drink orders didn't come till about 10 min so today there was only One waitress working there were A few other people there as well..but it took 25 min to get chips and salsa then took another 20 min to have the waitress come over to even see refill for our drinks then I had to go up to her and tell her if we could place a order for a appetizer then it came out btw it was there sampler ....... nothing to be impressed about food came out not anything we wanted meaning Food burnt...we ate only half of it cause at this point we were starved Don't order it..I did not take a Photo cause it wasn't worth seeing..after that we had already waited over an hour and our meals didn't show up.... So we got our food ...to go another couple showed up cause we were complaining about how our food is taking so damn long they had left saying if that's true we're scared we will be forever to nope they left...On the other hand ...Let me point out That waitress was Kind was not her fault I Blame the cooks ....the relleno plate is so good that I'll give em ...the whole experience was a 0 but I give the one star for trying...I won't be back..due to lack of service..food cold...I don't wanna diss this place but to be honest with you there food is not the same paid 42$ and my partner threw his food away we went to McDonald's after so we could eat Come here at your own Risk..and wait hour's for your food

Ordered beef enchiladas with a side of beans and rice. I find it disturbing to be the only customer there, placing a simple order, and still end up getting the wrong order. I had to drive back to the restaurant and ask management to to redo my order. They gave me cheese enchiladas instead of beef enchiladas. I waited another 15 minutes to get my order...no apologies...nothing!!!...and received half the amount of beans and rice from the previous order. Management could have remedied the situation monetarily for the inconvenience. I will definitely not be returning to this place again!

Should have know when we walked in on a Saturday and it was empty. Service was extremely slow. Worst food I've ever had. Rice tasted like it was cooked in tomato juice and no seasoning, green chili sauce had a weird spice in it that made it taste horrible, red chili was way too sweet, refried beans looked and tasted like they were powdered beans. Steak taco meat had zero flavor. I haven't been here in 25 years and it used to be my favorite restaurant in town, but I would never go back again and would highly recommend no one go. If I could give them 10/10 stars I would. There food is amazing service is great and it's all family owned! Best place in my opinion for chili cheese sirloin fries! Everything is freshly made. Would definitely recommend.
