As Marriott Bonvoy Gold members, we like to use their hotels when traveling and we're not choosing a short term rental home. This particular SpringHill Suites was a fresh & modern home base for our family of 3's short trip to visit University of New Mexico this past fall. It's right off the I-25 freeway, just a 5-10 minute trip from the airport, and about the same from Nob Hill and the heart of UNM's campus. We appreciated the covered parking with security patrol and the quite decent morning breakfast buffet from 6:30-9a, plus the well-equipped fitness center with cold filtered water fountain. Our King suite was clean, quiet, and comfortable for sleep. We parents got the great big bed while the teen got the trundle twin from beneath the sofa. The desk and frosted glass divider created enough separation to give some privacy. We were on the 6th floor with access to the rooftop deck and firepit for some very nice sunrise and sunset views.Don't make our mistake and miss that there is a hidden mini-fridge in the cabinet opposite the entry doorway, under the coffee pot.I'd have no hesitation with reserving here in the future, especially with business at UNM or at the adjacent Presbyterian Hospital.Note that the Ronald McDonald House's Highland House lodging for families with kids receiving medical care next door is co-located on the 3rd floor of this property.

This place is terrible. Dirty and Hotel desk is suppose to be avail 24 hours. Had an emergency and no one answered phone ALLt night. This is the second time this has happened at Same location (disappearing act). I suspect the staff is sleeping on the job. Unfortunately, had to stay here a second time due to location and Business. Also thought the first time was isolated incident. Guess I was proved wrong

Staff is nice. Grounds are clean. They have daily breakfast, but I wouldn't recommend it. Their fitness center is small but adequate. My room had a refrigerator and a microwave. The showers are equipped with body wash, shampoo and conditioner. They have an outdoor fire pit area where I guess you can sun bathe? Overall it doesn't have very many amenities, but it is very clean and I appreciate that.

When I booked hotel the parking was listed as free. When I arrived I was told that parking is $12 a day. Dishonest.

The location of these Suites, is close to the downtown Albuquerque night life. We were there to visit family, not for night life. The staff and security was very friendly. The security of the hotel was nice, especially being close to the downtown area right off Central Ave.There were quite a few annoying and inconvenient things regarding the SpringHill Suites. The first was the TV. It's not centered with the bed at all, and does not stretch out to be in front of the bed. Though the TV is not on a timer, it would regularly shut off within a 2 hour window. The free continental breakfast was the same thing every morning, we were there for 4 days. It was your choice between a sausage biscuit, spinach quiche, English Muffin, bagel, muffin, banana, apple, Wheaties, cheerios or oatmeal. They could not keep up with the crowd. One weekend morning, we waited 30 minutes for them to replace the sausage biscuits. On that morning, they had an addition, pecan waffle which they also could not keep replenished at all. We asked for daily housekeeping, as the trash was very small. We were filling the bin up daily and there was no area to toss the bins yourself. The staff came one time, Saturday after we had been there for 2 days. We had resorted to using grocery bags to fill with trash. We did ask the first day no one came nor knocked on our door, we were there waiting for family to contact us, when the housekeeping would come to our room. They explained they do their routes in the morning time. We did not have any sign on the door to "do not disturb" or "sleeping". The one time they did come, they did not replace our sheets, however replaced our towels and wash cloths.Surprisingly they require a key to get into everything but the parking garage which is not big enough for all their guests. At night, when we would return around 7 or 8 PM, there were people sitting outside the hotel. People walking through the parking lot who appeared to be homeless. Granted they cannot control this, I did not feel safe leaving the hotel room. There is no pool, somehow my husband thought it stated there was a pool. They have a gym that was always empty but no pool.A few things regarding the location. It was very difficult to find water after 9 PM. The first night we arrived, we settled in and had dinner and spent 30 minutes driving around looking for an open gas station. Many places close around 9 PM. Even locations that stated they were open 24hrs were in fact not. They would have hand written signs in the window saying "closed" but google stated they were 24 hrs.Beer is also difficult to come by after 10 PM. Even if you find a store open before 10 PM, they do not have a good selection. I wish I would have known this when arriving I would have bought hotel supplies like water, snacks and some liquor before going to dinner. Some walmarts sell beer and some do not. You best bet is to drive to the Total Wine that is not close to the suites at all.The homelessness in Albuquerque is out of hand. Walking down the street, they will approach you and ask for things. Not just money. They will ask for food or even to use your phone. Many approached wanting to "show" us something, what that was we don't know as we would walk away. One would think during the day would be safe, during the day the streets are filled with people laying in alleys, parking lots and sidewalks.Again not the Springhills Suites fault, however it speaks to the location. Had I known how this would be, I would not have booked here and rather on the outskirts of the town. Besides, we ended up paying over 700 for 4 nights.

Our stay at Springhill was fine. However when I viewed my credit card statement after our stay I was charged with three extra fees for the three other people on my reservation because they were marked as "no shows" and that's apparently their policy... my whole party arrived together, checked in together, all received keys and then checked out at the same time. To say they were no shows and to try and charge for that is ridiculous. I was able to get refunded after several phone calls and standing my ground. But what kind of policy is that?!

I booked a single king for my pregnant wife and I over a week in advance. When we walked into our room it was a double "queen". I called the front desk and told them thats not what I reserved. They should have contacted me ahead of time to tell me so I could have canceled my reservation. I reserved this hotel because I have surgery across the street. This is a HUGE inconvenience The staff needs to communicate better with the customers. I do NOT recommend staying here.
