Sportsman's Lodge

Nothing but good at this delightful place. From the warm smile and gracious conversation at the front desk, to the circus of hummingbirds and fresh air, three tired bikers were glad to be off the road at such a welcoming establishment. The beds did their job, the shower did its job, and the little coffee maker didn't fail us. Loved the chairs out front, which made it wonderful to sit out in the evening and talk with others and watch the hummingbirds do their magic. Reservations were made back in February for a room; an adjustment was made in March to add a second room, and no issues for our stop the first week of August '24. If you don't enjoy this place you shouldn't be on the road in this part of the country. The local eatery, the Grill & Still, served a decent meal and is an easy walk from the Lodge. Not a lot of choices for food as it looked like the town fell on hard times, but the Sportsman's Lodge was absolutely the highlight of our journey through AZ (besides AZ 191 heading south to Morenci, a motorcyclist's bucket list ride).

Great place to stay. Friendly owners. Great prices. Every 5th night is free. Single double and large family studio rooms avail. Has a fenced yard for the dogs, park in front of your room and enjoy alpine. Great place to stay with lots of great restaurants in town 4 to be exact. Owned by the same couple for almost 30 years, and their personal dedication and care shows everywhere you look. Classic roadside motel styling, and the rooms have been updated in a way that respects and preserves its heritage. All of the furnishings, fixtures, and appliances have been carefully selected to fit perfectly in the space available, and have been decorated very tastefully. Front windows overlook the large meadow frequented by herds of elk (who mingle with domesticated horses and cattle), and there are popular hummingbird feeders lining the front, leading to spirited turf battles among the countless hummingbirds there. Very friendly service and an exceptionally quiet setting. I was concerned about road noise, with the motel sitting right along Highway 191, but this was probably the quietest motel room I have ever stayed in - a testament to the construction values of yesteryear. We will definitely return!

Poor Customer Service. Rooms are Dirty!!! We hated it. We were planning to stay for few nights but we took off in 12 hrs. We didn't even get the refund. Do not recommend this place.

We checked in in the early afternoon and were greeted by dogs in the office. They were all behind the desk and protective. The owner was cleaning rooms but he was easily found and quickly checked us in. The room was small but super clean, fresh and exactly right. The bathroom has recently been redone and the beds were soft but solid. Towels were fluffy and the water was always hot. The owner told us it was an "on demand" hot water system. We have a great view of the meadow across the street from our window and in the morning it was full of black angus. We went out to breakfast, came back and headed out!A great place to stay. Prices are very reasonable and I would recommend it to everyone.

I love small family-run businesses where the owner is onsite and takes pride in their business. This place is just that! They don't even have separate employees for housekeeping.....they do it! Their office/lobby is their house! Their cute dogs will bark like crazy when you walk in, but they're behind a gate and can't get to you. The brown one is Sassafrass lol. I don't remember the black dogs name. They also have a cat that might jump on the counter to greet you! If that's annoying to you....you're weird, and stay somewhere else! They will greet you by name when you come out of your room (if they're outside). The rooms are very clean! The bathrooms have been updated and look nice. There is a nook with a fridge, microwave, and coffee with real glass coffee cups! The carpet and some other stuff is a little dated but they take great care of the place, it's an old building, and small businesses don't usually have the money to upgrade to more expensive things like the big chain hotels do. The big chain hotels also don't have the owner callIng you by name and cleaning your room either. There is also a flat screen tv with directv. If you're down to earth you'll like the place.

This was a great place to stay in Alpine. A little dated, but the room was clean, comfortable and the bed nice. The bathroom was a little small for my size, but I did what I needed it too. After checking in every time I saw Frank he called me by my name and would check to see if everything was OK. They even put out some windex and towels on my front chairs so I could clean my motorcycle windshield and helmet faceshield.

I was having major vehicle problems, and just was coming to Arizona, after a long drive from New Mexico. This motel was the first one I spotted so I decided to check in.Very pleased with the accommodations. My room was a good size. Perfect for me and my dog! Was very clean, with fridge, microwave, and coffee with yes, real mugs! LOL.Scenic area, with views both out front of mountains and meadow, and even out the bathroom window. The owner was very helpful. He and his friend were lifesavers, helping me to get my pickup truck back on the road, as it was a Sunday, and there were no garages open.

Nice little place, the rooms where very clean and tidy, the bathroom was spotless and well stocked. The beds where very comfortable and clean, you even have all or your amenities like flat screen tv, direct tv, room refrigerator, coffee maker with mugs, microwave, extra blankets, nice thick towels that where sooo clean. I really can't express just how clean this little place was, plenty of parking, and for the age of the building the place was in exceptional condition. I'll be honest I'll be back
