Yes, that's the freeway. Good noise buffer, actually.
Those who dare venture the Slide of Mordor do so at their own peril, as evidenced by these sneaker skid marks.

The Good: Where to begin? Two play structures, both toddler and big kid grounds, completely separated and well equipped. Woodchips. Two big kid swings and three buckets (limited radius). Sheltered tables and benches. A sprawling, rolling lawn with plenty of trees. Clean, generally new, generally safe. The Bad: Beware the Slide of Mordor (that's what I called it, anyway). Upon first approach this thing looks like one heckuva ride, it's possibly the longest playground slide I've seen in the metro area. As usual, I placed my kid on my lap and took the plunge... and it was kinda scary. Definitely scared my kid. This is one of many, many slides I've found to be pushing the boundaries of "safe". Hint: there are visible sneaker skid marks. I saw another kid get tossed around in there. Eesh. Also, there seemed to be very little consideration regarding an empty lot adjacent to the park (The Land of Barren Souls is what I called it). Very Albuquerque: Beautifully renovated city park and... tumbleweeds. Finally: no shade on either playground to speak of.The Verdict: This place is sort of a fantasy realm, it should be called SandiaGully. The architects did a nice job of updating the grounds and shaping a beautiful space. The shaded lawn would make a great spot for a birthday party or afternoon picnic. I was a little surprised there weren't any sport facilities, though. A half-court basketball hoop wouldn't be so much to ask.

Perfect park for a nice day with the kids. I love this park because it has a bigger kids section, and it has a toddler section. It does have a dog run but it's not working now. I love how nobody is ever here, it leaves lots of free run space.

We're come here to watch the Rio Rancho's Fourth of July fireworks. It's nice. No bathrooms. The park has nice trees.

This is a great new park to us that i found on yelp. It has two sections one for children under 5 another for children over 5. Nice green grass, shady tress and smooth paths. My granddaughter really enjoyed this park because she loves to climb and this park offers lots of climbing options. Lots of ways that she has to use cognitive thinking to solve climbing issues. I'm sure sure would give this park 6 stars if it was offered. It was a quiet day, a few other children playing but no other sound except children's laughter. Great park.

Fun little park with good shade to play in the late afternoon. Playgrounds are unusable in the hot weather but that's ok we brought some balls and bubbles and had a nice relaxing visit. Very clean and safe feeling tucked back in a neighborhood. Grab some food up the street and kick back here with a picnic in one of the shaded gazebos.

If you don't mind trash, homeless people and dog poop, it's great. On one of my few visits someone decided to start a fire in the wood chips that couldn't be put out with a small amount of water, so had to call the fire department.
