The road up from Highway 14 was winding and tree lined. Great views from this park and the National Park Pass worked for the parking fee. We took a hike out to the trailhead and then up to the overlook. You can see the large expanse of Albuquerque down below as well as the back of the mountain range. The wildflowers were in bloom and it was very beautiful the day we visited. Even though the temperature was around 60 degrees, the sun was out and it didn't feel cold. Maybe next visit, we can do more hiking.

Thanks for syncing another wonderful memory in my brain, Sandia Park. You're like a girlfriend to me! Before our arrival to the very top, my friends and I planned to take a quick 15 minute tram ride, which made me extremely nervous!! I thought i was going to die here. But, instead of letting my fear get the best of me, I just swallowed it, and went on with the journey. WOW, I keep saying the best things are totally for free. This was an amusement to me, so much to see. So much in this world to explore.... And i want to see all out of it!! Most of these mountains reminds me of Colorado, truth be told. Lots of similar characteristics. to be fair, we are rather close. Same with Utah and Wyoming. But, still, quite the charm to experience this. The zip line still makes me freaking nervous!!! I don't think i could do that again. It scares the beejeezuz out of me. Well, I definitely want to return. No doubt about that. Thanks again Sandia Park, you're a watermelon in my heart.

Watermelon Park! No, you're probably not going to find any watermelons growing here. It's the Sandia Mountains to the east of Albuquerque, including the back of the mountains. This park has a winding road that takes you up to the summit of the mountain, if you approach from the west side of the mountain. It takes you past pines, cottonwoods, bears, and other critters. There's a ski slope along here, and the Tinkertown Museum is on the way (a must see!) There's plenty of hiking and camp sites along the way for some scenic views. The Sandia Man Cave is about 3/4 of the way up the mountain at a campsite turnoff. Be sure to tie up your food or put it in your car, and be mindful of the trash. There's black bears around here, and they get hungry too. They'd love to have some of that Yelp-sourced takeout. At the peak of the mountain, you'll find an observation deck where you can get magnificent views of Albuquerque. There's a lackluster gift shop and cafe up there with high prices. Bring your own drinks, because they're priced like a St. Bernard had to bring them up there. The gift shop also functions as a park ranger station where you can learn about animal tracks and scat. You can get an areal view of the park if you take the tram!

This is an outstanding attraction all year round. The Sandia Peak Tramway and other points toward Abq have an excellent view of the city; the other side of the Park has excellent valley views. Much of the rest of the park is woodland, especially pine forest with excellent hiking. To my surprise, the high parts of the park have not been extremely lower in temperature when I've visited than is Albuquerque itself. On the edges and nearby there are private campgrounds and golf courses which maintain some of the feel of the park as well (in fact, the website listed above near the address is a LiveCam on a nearby Golf Course).

What an amazing trip up the mountain. They have new trams as of May. They are super smooth riding and very comfortable. There are amazing views and a restaurant at the top. There is a significant temperature difference at the top so don't forget a jacket

All I can say is simply breathtaking. We almost missed sunset but by the grace of God we made it. The views are like something out of this world. I don't have a paralyzing fear of heights but the fear is definitely real so I was nervous the entire time but simply captivated by the beauty. It was definitely colder up there. When we came down it was dark and we caught beautiful views of the city lights. I would definitely suggest this ride, its definitely a bucket list experience.

Amazing views with a fun ride up on the world's longest aerial tramway. Our tramway rappin/rhyming guide made the ride educational and entertaining. Just make sure you dress warm...it's a bit colder ontop of the 10,378 feet peak!

When you stand up here try to imagine that you're not on a mountain, so much as an island. Once the entire area was covered with a shallow sea, and you're on the tip of what was once just a little outlet in a wide, wet expanse. In fact, you can look out at other peaks, those were islands, too!To that end, I wish high finance had a tiki theme. It would be great. But seriously, this is a nice park set amidst an interesting landscape. Lots of trails, lots of interesting things to see. Don't try to overdo it, though, because you're at 10k feet. Also, bring water.

We went to this park last week and the views were good but It took us a good hour to find it. Must to a better directing traffic, especially the tourists. It's not Colorado by any means but if you are a beginner it's worth going to. I would rate this high but nothing is mark.
