Poor customer service and poor quality. SHI was timely to book and conduct an inspection, but the service they provided was inadequate. I was apparently under the wrong assumption that a home inspector represents their client's interests and wants to ensure clients are fully informed of the condition of a prospective home and that the home is safe for their client's family. Going back in forth in my SHI Better Business Bureau complaint, SHI informed me that is not the case. Apparently home inspectors in NM are not required to evaluate if a home's critical components, in my case the HVAC, are to code or required to be certified to evaluate critical components for functionality. SHI noted minor deficiencies in our new home, but stated everything was otherwise operational. They provided a blanket recommendation of having a licensed professional inspect all deficiencies noted. Then what is the point of paying for a home inspection? Upon move in we discovered our HVAC was improperly installed and would never be able to cool our house, a $35K hit to an already expensive move. We also found an old roof leak not identified on inspection and that our stucco needed repairs to ensure the roof wouldn't leak again. Next time I make the most costly investment in my life, I'll skip the pricey home inspection and opt for a FREE evaluation from a licensed expert who will quickly identify problems and solutions and likely save me thousands of dollars.

Do NOT recommend. He is not thorough. He stated in report he could not access under home as access point was sealed. Original was. But the three foot by three foot door under the rear deck, next to the air conditioning unit was very accessible. He also stated that the third bedroom fixture should be replaced as it wasn't functioning. It had a 'smart light bulb' in it. One that is activated by "hey google". We even showed him this.He asked where the well was, so he wasn't afraid to ask a question. We were there the whole time. Save your money.
