Thank you so much!We are currently on a road trip and had to get our daily workout, and this "box" was perfect! It was a GREAT drop-in workout with cardio and weights. And our coach (I'm sorry I missed her name but she had the faded rainbow hair with one side cut short) was knowledgeable and attentive, and really encouraged us through the workout! We also brought our two daughters, and when the music got a little explicit, she switched the songs. She didn't have to, as the words were fast enough and our girls were entertained and distracted by the pups sitting off to the side that they didn't notice, but she did and she took the initiative, and I was VERY appreciative. It was one of those little things that went above and beyond and I was grateful. We loved it and will for sure come in again next summer on our 2020 road trip to Missouri! (This year it's Maryland).

Crossfit. This word conjures up so many images.Knee socks, Bandanas, Bacon, Pull ups, Microscopic Shorts, Plate Weights, Chalk, and Bacon. Yes -bacon is worthy of 2 mentions.I've been a member of Burque's active community for a few years (let's get real- gym rat, exercise junkie, person on the Bosque that says on your left waaay louder than deemed necessary). I started hearing more and more about Crossfit and decided to investigate the legit way- YouTube. I was blown away watching these terrifying feats of strength/endurance and immediately thought not my scene. Saying you can't do something is lame- and certainly not how Mr. Rogers raised me to think.I woke up one morning and decided to take the plunge in the world of badassery (yeah that's a word now)I rolled up to Sandia Crossfit thinking "Will I survive? I'm going to be the only person without knee socks....I cant do a pull up if a kittens life depended on it"One free intro class later I was hooked. (Saturday 11-12 free intro hour)Sandia Crossfit is the only gym I've seen that takes "Anyone can crossfit" to heart. The workouts are tailored to your own capabilities, you will be able to participate no matter your fitness background/limitations. The instructors are knowledgable and genuinely want to help you get the most out of the class- quickly offering adjustments, modifications ( or in my case- pushing me to the level I want to be).Classes are an hour comprising of warmup workout, technique work, and lastly a WOD that will give you that endorphin rush you've been jonesing for. They also offer functional yoga as well as mobility (Mobility is taught by a physical therapist at no extra cost- seriously)Paleo pot lucks, snow shoe outings, swim wods?I can't say enough about my love for this place, the people that run it, or the sport of Crossfit.

With all of the chalk - colorful numbers on the floor, weightlifting residue on the bars and weights - and the dry erase boards all over the walls listing names and accomplishments, it's clear this cult likes to scribble. It's true what they say about these muskrats and their den of burly zen, the place could double as an enlightened compound in Waco. The members do seem rather obsessed and the trainers more like humbled disciples of Jesus-fit.I'm speaking from the experience of a dude who tried two workouts at this gym and has decided, at least for the meantime, to stick with my current favorite. I've come to judge any workout by sweat ratio: the wetter my tee, the better the workout. Both visits to Sandia left me essentially dry as the desert air. I'm sure had I attended a cardio class I would've been more of a mess, but I guess I like to move faster (a lot faster) than this place generally operates. Lots of stretching (a good thing), not a whole lot of grit. You won't find any dumbbells here, but they have a pretty extensive collection of kettlebells and medicine balls, a huge climbing and pull-up apparatus, and lifting bars and weights. The philosophy is heavy on Olympic-style training emphasizing major upper-body strength, hard work. Music was totally average and at times quite lame, but whatareyagonnado. You're there to get 'er done.I gave the place a second chance after an opening class that was a downer, and I'm glad I did. They're a very welcoming bunch, which is unusual for a cult, and while I would've preferred a lot more personal assistance as a newbie, I generally liked it. A monthly membership runs more than DOUBLE the cost of my current gym, so taking that into consideration, I cannot fathom getting twice the workout in these confines. But hey, the gov'ment ain't funding this church, so if you wanna come to the services, be prepared to pay for it.

For years I had been interested in giving CrossFit a try, but had been completely and utterly intimidated by the whole thing. This winter, I participated in a 6-week boot camp with Sandia CrossFit designed for beginners, and immediately fell in love with it. I am so lucky to have fallen into such a great community! Obviously, it is wonderful that the facilities are great, and the owners are constantly improving the space and equipment. The trainers are excellent - well educated and informed, patient and flexible - and they are wonderful at working with all skill levels to properly scale workouts to each athlete's ability. But, the best perk is the people! I have already made such amazing friendships. Everyone is so supportive and friendly. Now I can look back at my feelings about CrossFit 6 months ago and see how silly I was. There was absolutely no reason for me to be intimidated, because my experience has been nothing but smooth and accommodating. If you are in the same position I was, I hope you take the leap and see for yourself!

I was in town for work and was able to drop in 2X in the week. The 2nd time was the most fun I've had at CF in awhile. The trainer Courtney and everyone there were chatty and having a good ole time. Good times, good WOD. End of story. Stop in for a good time and a good WO!

The new facility is a gem and this box has a big, bright future with a solid group of people running it. I'm addicted. Sandia CF offers a great community to come work out, whether you are a novice or have competed in the games, as well as an environment that is challenging and fun! I look forward to not only the workouts, but to being around the great group of people that create and enhance Sandia's culture. WODs are awesome and the trainers accommodate to your skill, safety and comfort levels. This place is balls to the wall... wall balls that is.

I travel around the country on business and when I had a big project in Albuquerque I looked up a crossfit gym on Yelp. Sandia Crossfit was highly rated and not too far from my hotel and work sites. I came in off hours and met with Matt. He was very friendly and welcomed me in to workout anytime. The box is nice and clean and had a lot of equipment. The jump ropes are a bit worn out and the lengths are not legible so I was not able to do double unders quite as well as I usually can. Other than this everything and everyone was great. I like this gym and enjoy workout out in the relatively high altitude (I live at sea level). I bought a punch card and have used up most of it since April. Unfortunately I don't live in Albuquerque or else I'd be a full time member!

I have very quickly fallen in love with Crossfit! I was almost immediately addicted, and feel guilty missing a WOD. The people are all great and the new gym is beautiful!

Fantastic gym. I was in ABQ for work and had researched all the crossfit gyms in the area. This one had the most appeal. Not only did I get a kick out of the blog posts by the coaches, but they were prompt and friendly in returning an answer to my email requesting to drop-in for a class. When I got there, the coaches were real friendly and motivating. Facilities were clean, equipment in great shape, plenty of room to workout. My only caution is to those coming from sea level to ABQ. You will be working out at more than a mile above sea level! (6500 ft if I remember correctly) Believe me, it slows you down. Otherwise, I'll alway use this gym when I'm in ABQ.

I dropped into Sandia 2 days while I was in ABQ for work because it was close to my hotel and it had good reviews on yelp. The workout was challenging, the instructor was good and attentive and the group was really welcoming.
