Salon 31

I followed my stylist to this salon. She is awesome and frankly I would follow her to the moon and back, if necessary. She did a great job on my hair (as usual) and did a good job on my daughter's ombre blue & green hair also. Very pleased and will continue driving all the way to Old Town for continued services.

Great place!I had a spa pedi done with Jovan and I am very happy with the whole experience. She did an excellent job and was very pleasant to talk with. The staff was professional and friendly and the salon itself, although still getting 'moved in' and completed, was clean and relaxing. I would suggest this place for hair, nails or their other services based on today's experience. I would definitely go back to Jovan as she does everything and genuinely enjoys her work. I am confident she would have the same level of care and detail with a hair appointment or other service.

I think the term, er, brand "Groupon" sounds a little seedy. "Hey babe, me and my buddy here are lookin' for a little fun tonight. Are you down for a Groupon?"Like most American families, I don't watch the Groupon, my wife does. I got things to do. But the wife, she's on the Groupon everyday and this go-round she found a deal at a place not far from our house. Our 15 year-old needed to reign in her long locks and she set up a sweet deal. The Groupon is always a big question mark for us; sometimes it's a steal, other times we understand precisely why these businesses need clients, they lost the others a while ago. Salon FX was a steal.This expansive little den should be on the register of historic places in ABQ. Solid adobe walls and sun-lit beamed ceilings host a staff of really cool people. My kid really loved the conversation and, in the end, her cut. They offer pedicures and the other stuff a good salon should pimp, it's worth a visit, with or without your Groupon. I'm the first to review? They've been around going on two years. Check 'em out.

I've been going to Tony for regular hair color/cut/style visits for a year now, and he's wonderful. He has a real flair for multi-toned color with highlights, and knows just how to shape my hair so it looks fresh & stylish with great movement. When I've gone too long between visits, Tony is very accommodating when I contact him and need an appointment right away. I've always been treated well at Salon 31. If your hair needs anything from a basic trim to an adventurous new color & style, I recommend Tony at Salon 31!

First of all, Liz is obviously embellishing her story because there is NO ONE at this salon that is rude .... Ever. I get my hair cut, my nails done, and have even had a facial from here and it's always PERFECT! A salon doesn't have to be owed by a hair stylist to do hair. They obviously employ very talented stylists as well as talented nail techs. This makes for a well rounded business. The atmosphere is relaxing and the people are very friendly and experts in their respective fields. I'm appalled at the ridiculous review. If you know any of these people, especially the owner you know that there's no way there's any truth to her statements.

I went to them for a gel manicure and pedicure for my wedding. They weren't overly welcoming but they weren't overly rude. The customer service was just adequate enough and the ambiance was above average for Albuquerque. Unfortunately their gel nails lasted less than a week before the edges started rolling up and getting caught on fabric and in my hair. My toe nails actually started chipping after three days. They have a nice setup and with some improvement to the quality of the product they sell could be a genuinely luxurious place to go. They are not quite there yet but they could get there easily.

I received a groupon as a gift to Salon 31. Since starting in July of 2014, I have lost 100 pounds. I will be having a photoshoot to celebrate this milestone that I have worked very hard for! The gifts purpose was to be a sweet gesture to treat myself to a salon day before my big photoshoot day. But.....Dealing with salon31 has been the WORST experience as far as salons in town go. The staff is beyond rude. The day of my appointment, I called at 9:00 to let them know that I was a few minutes behind and was very lost, there was no answer. ( I am not from Albuquerque originally, and get lost very easily in new areas) When I finally reached someone at 9:10, she REFUSED to tell me where they were located and told me she could not see me until Friday. (This was Monday.). I profusely apologized for being late, and assured her I was coming, and was just vey lost. ( I was in tears for the Inconvenience) She still refused to tell me how to get there rudely, and ultimately I did not have an appointment that day. Fast forward to Friday, and I have another appointment with another person, Tony, at 130. Tony calls at 1030 to let me know that I was double booked and that I either had to come in at 1200 or I would not be seen AGAIN. ( I had no idea this is how appointments worked?????) I RUSHED to the salon (I was prepared with the EXACT location this time lol) and got there on time. I want to start off by saying that Tony, my stylist, is the NICEST guy. He is funny, and hilarious; the type of guy you want at a social gathering. NOT the guy you want doing your hair. He was outside smoking when we arrived, and did not bother to wash his hands before inspecting my hair. I told him the text book hair cut line " I only want a trim" and he text book went too far. I have choppy blunt layers that are as short as my eyebrow. The ends are so blunt that they do not blend and look like I was hacked with craft scissors. When I expressed my displeasure with my cut, the salon owner threw her hands up. Why? BECAUSE SALON31 IS NOT A "hair salon". It's a nail salon that does hair. The owner is a nail tech who said she could not do anything to help me because she doesn't "know hair". Excuse me??? You own a "hair" salon and you don't know hair? Does anyone else find this absolutely perplexing? If you own a salon and just do nails, fine! At least TRY to be educated enough in what is happening in YOUR salon. The owner was not empathetic and simply could not do anything because of her lack of hair knowledge. Steer clear of salon31. They are messy, disorganized, rude and unprofessional!!!!!. I so badly want to cancel my shoot after this but cannot let the salon ruin such a milestone. Don't put yourself in my shoes, just go somewhere else, don't let the lure of groupon sway you

Love the products they use in my hair. Really nice relaxing environment. Ive never had any issues with staff. Tony does my hair and he's amazing.

Tony is an amazing hairstylist and color specialist, and I recommend him for any kind of hair! If you want a total makeover haircut, a new change in color, highlights, etc. he's on top of his game. I am from Chicago and picky about how my hair is treated, and finding Tony was my answer in this town! No one here seems to know what they're doing (if you haven't noticed). He is seriously top notch and so is everyone else that works at Salon 31.

This place is well worth the groupon, as well as whatever they charge without it. Nikelwa offered great conversation, very knowledgeable service and a great cut. I will certainly be coming back here!
