Being futon aficionados, we continue to love it!The owner and staff are genuine futon experts. They only carry top-notch furniture, including synthetic futons for those who are allergic to cotton. Futons are not something you should purchase just anywhere, because most futons out there are flimsy, watered-down versions of the real thing, which won't hold their firmness for long or are made with inferior materials.Update:My husband and I recently went to Sachi Organics to have small throw pillows for our couch made. We had these pillows made with flax seed and they come with their own slip covers made of organic, non-bleached canvas. The proprietors, though busy, made these quickly and skillfully.

I bought a latex mattress from here after a lot of deliberation and find it extremely uncomfortable, it's gotten worse with time. The people who own the store are friendly, however, I would advise anyone who cannot afford a $2000-$5000 gamble or donation to consider alternatives. We were able to swap out a layer of the mattress for a softer one, but even so, after several months, my husband and I resorted to putting a memory foam pad on top until we can afford another mattress. I wanted a quality mattress made of natural materials, and I felt good about supporting a local business, but I regret buying it. I asked about the option of returning for half-price thinking maybe they could resell it, and also about having the mattress cut into twin mattresses, but was told this option would be "quite expensive." I was told I could resell it myself, but the 12 year warranty would be void for the purchaser. We visited the store several times before purchasing, but I had trouble finding reviews of the mattresses as opposed to the pillows. The latex mattress seemed comfortable in the store, but that is not the same as sleeping on it for several months- my back and hips cannot be persuaded that the feel-good quality of the mattress is worth it. Also, there are also no exchanges for mattress covers which may shrink with washing. I asked at purchase what would happen if we really didn't like it, and was told it could be returned, but I didn't press for any conditions- rookie error, it is a business no matter how nice people seem. I think the store should have a large sign saying "no returns." I finally decided to post a review to give a more balanced opinion for anyone wondering about comfort in addition to ethical production and organic materials because it is my most expensive mistake.

Sachi is a WONDERFUL business I discovered this shop when I was looking fruitlessly for a replacement for my old futon, which was extremely well made and had held up for 20 years (and is now my sofa). Problem - in the meantime, federal regulations have changed. Futons are now classified as mattresses (rather than furniture) and have to meet higher fire retardant standards. I simply couldn't find a real, old-fashioned cotton futon unless it was a special order from out of state and those come soaked in carcinogens like all fire-resistant textiles. Nothing I really want to sleep on every night. Nothing I worry about either, since I don't smoke, which is far and away the #1 cause of deadly mattress fires. Personally, I think it would require a nuclear blast to ignite a solid cotton futon, but someone at a government lab apparently did manage to do so, resulting in said regulation. I digress...Enter Sachi. They let me in on the secret. In order to get a real, bona-fide, all cotton batting, non-chemical treated futon, you'll need a doctor's note, from an MD, DO, or chiropractor. Possible medical exemptions are numerous - I have several, both allergenic and chiropractic. Easy enough. Bring this note to Sachi and tell them what size you want and what type of cotton (conventional or organic, all domestically grown in Texas). The prices are entirely reasonable for a custom-made mattress. They'll call you in 2 weeks. Go pick it up. Sleep like a baby!Quality is impeccable. Delivered exactly on time as promised. All customer service interactions were highly courteous, knowledgeable, quick, and efficient. A+++ business. Bonus - I'm a Zen practitioner. While perusing the store, I found they also sell a lovely line of zafus, seiza cushions, zabutans, and other meditation supplies and supports under the brand Blue Lotus, which I'd seen in meditation facilities but didn't know who sold them. I'd tried a variety of things from a cat bed to a foam block under my knee with the annoyed tendons while sitting zazen, nothing quite ideal. Sachi had a PERFECT small millet cushion that fit the bill exactly. Looks and feels like it ought to outlast me. Will certainly be back to dive deeper into their extensive line of meditator's gear!

Back in 1984 and 85 my mother and I helped Lois make her futons in the garage. I was 14 at the time and had never seen a futon nor did I have any knowledge of real Japanese culture. The time I spent with Lois and her family remains some of my most precious memories. I had one of those futons for many many years any loved sleeping on it. I remember just how dedicated to the quality of her products Lois was and is. I purchased a buckwheat neck roll from Amazon at random to later discover that I knew the owner of the company. I couldn't be more satisfied with my new pillow because of the quality and I am elated to know that I have a history with the creator of the product! I would recommend anything Lois has a hand in making because I know first hand her commitment to making things that she would use herself. THANK YOU SO MUCH LOIS! I love my pillow and I love my memories of you and your family. I am beyond happy to know that Lois succeeded in turning her passion into a lucrative business and is still going strong 40 years running. You can buy with confidence and know that these products are built to last a lifetime since they are made in the traditional Japanese manner. :)

In July 2014 we were ready to purchase a new mattress and bedding. My husband and I have both had multiple back surgeries and needed something to help us sleep thru the night and to alleviate pain and stiffness when we awoke each morning. We drove 4 hours to visit Sachi Organics and test out an organic latex mattress. We were there when the store opened and we were educated about SO's products. We went to lunch, came back and began testing out mattresses and pillows. After 2 more hours of education, conversation and lying around on different combinations of bedding we made our selections. A king Dunlop triple layer (medium, firm, medium) mattress. A king wool mattress topper. 2 rejuvenation pillows. 2 wool pillows. 6 months later we are sleeping through the night, waking up refreshed without being stiff and sore and ready to say we will never buy another type of bedding. Sachi Organic products are incredible and an great value because they will serve you better and longer than any other type of bedding. If you want a great mattress contact Sachi Organics!

If every business operated with the integrity and superb customer service provided by Lois and Nate at Saichi there would be no need for a Better Business Bureau. I ordered one of the Rejuvenation pillows from Atlanta Georgia and the shipment arrived exactly as promised . It was well packaged. You must do business with this fine establishment. I wish I lived in New Mexico to visit more frequently . Keep providing the exceptional service.

Ordered a cylindrical buckwheat hull neck pillow and an additional cover for it. Received it- the pillow is quite nice, but the cover is merely a sleeve that is open at both ends. I wanted a cover that completely secures the entire pillow and ensures that it remains clean. One that zips shut, and can be laundered. Called Sachi Organics, and although they do not have one currently, they are in the process of developing this item. They are going to make one for me and send it out in a few days. That is great customer service! Thank you! And keep them coming- I can't be alone in this request!

This is one of the best customer service experiences I have ever had. The owner is just so kind and loving. She knew my girlfriend was pregnant and suggested the perfect futon for us. I look forward to going to bed every night since getting this bed. It's so so so so comfortable for the both of us. I can't say enough good things about the great folks at Sachi :)

I have known Lois, the owner for 10 years. She and her family put there heart and soul into all their products. I only buy my mediation cushions yoga bolster and bedding a from them. Just visited their work studio on Albuquerque

Bought the most expensive bed Sachi offers. After a year, each layer (3 of them) of "organic latex" began to smell funky. I have no pets.
