What a beautiful park. I don't mean it as a slight, but once there, you would never guess you were in the middle of Albuquerque. The grass was so lush and the shade and giant trees really made the place seem from another place. We had shown up the other day as I heard the disc gold was really good here. When we arrived we didn't know where to go but luckily there were some locals in the parking lot that pointed us the way. It's not a huge park. The one fella who gave us some guidance luckily gave us the tip that there were about half as many baskets as tee boxes. For example, hole(basket) 5, was also hole 15. We were able to find each tee pretty easily and with the grass cut throughout we weren't likey to lose a disc.Things got a little more crazy when a large disc gold club of people arrived. Around 2 dozen people met up for a tournament of sorts. They all started on different holes and all of as sudden we had to be extra careful of our throws as many holes are in the way of throwing lanes. We finished without anyone getting hit in the head, but there were some close ones. Great park, good disc gold course, just be careful of strays frisbees.

The park's topology is hard to grasp from looking at a photograph. A nearly perfect civic work...

Roosevelt Park was absolutely beautiful! Lush green grass and beautiful big trees! There are somehow even rolling hills within the park despite the fact that it is in a developed area. It's a beautiful spot to watch the sunset over the city also! The only downfall is that there were quite a few dogs off leash here- the most I've seen at any park in Albuquerque yet! It's a great park for dogs who love to run and it is listed online as an unfenced dog park until 10/11am depending on the season. Not sure if it's used as such outside of these hours, but be careful if you have a dog who does not like random canine encounters.

Roosevelt Park is among the very few fully shaded parks that you'll find in Albuquerque. That alone makes it worth a visit :-)Tip: Another virtually unique feature of this park is a disc golf course! The park has rolling hills, and there are sometimes quite a number of people here on hot days. Given this, if you want to play disc golf you need to be aware of where the people are so that you don't end up hitting anyone while you play.

This park is perfect for the doggos and heat-sensitive dog owners. Albuquerque summers get hot, too hot in my opinion. I find I have to carefully plan out my dog's walking schedule because any outside activity between 9:30 am-6:45 pm is just torture. Luckily, this park has plenty of grass and offers tons of shade.I think the focus of this park is a disc golf course, but theres also some picnic tables and a small playground. I always see lots of other people walking their dogs, so my dog definitely gives this place 5 stars just to see the other pups (he is actually the only dog in the world that doesn't like grass, but he enjoys walking along the trail). Overall, I appreciate this park for being an enormous and lovely shaded patch of grass.

I really love this park during the day... there are hills, pretty good plushy grass, ultimate frisbee, comforting trees and is located in a convenient area between downtown and UNM. Parking can be rough at times, but if you're close enough, take the stroll there instead.I love to play bocce ball here - the terrain is unpredictable and really forces some control out of you - learning how much your ball will roll, if there are divets and how fast it will stop, not to mention possible obstacles like loose twigs changing the course of your throw. I find this park to be very thrilling during holiday weekends because I love watching the masses gather with their families and do something so simple, fun, out in nature and inexpensive. People grilling out, playing volleyball, kicking around a soccer ball - laughs heard 'round the world, and when ABQ is somewhat dreary at times, Roosevelt on a Sunday in the Spring will cheer ya right up!

Great Park or Greatest Park? I've been staking this place out for a couple weeks trying to figure that out. I think I'm going to go with Great Park, but look forward to the continued improvements. First of all, greatest canopy! I can't think of another old growth canopy of this magnitude in the Albuquerque area. These giant elms were planted by the New Deal and that's the gift that keeps on giving. This is probably the greatest dog park in town too. AND DON"T LETS RUIN IT BY LEAVING POOP ON THE GROUND! OWNER OF DOG NAMED "DUCK"! yeah I'm watchin' you fool. Anyway... as I was saying, this is the greatest dog park as there are many off-leash hours before 10am and lots of cool people with cool dogs walking around, and there's little human/dog water fountains so you can drink at the same time. And there's plastic poop bag dispensers! hint hint.Next comes the playground which is great and always full of kids. It seems to have the right amount of slides and climbing combos. No swings though, and it's not under the canopy for much of the day, unfortunately. Roosevelt's got the greatest frisbee golf course. I've never played but it's always happenin and looks like fun. (Go ahead and invite me, I have an opening for frisbee-golf friend.)The green is nice and I've witnessed everything from 101 person work-outs, to giant 4/20 drum circles, to weddings, to family reunions. Greatest community! So all together, Great Park!

Beautiful park in the heart in downtown Albuquerque. I went with my 9 month son. We walked the paved perimeter and watched kids play disc golf. It was green, with rolling hills and established trees. The reasonit doesn't get 5 stars is due to location, and types of people I encountered. Generally the people seemed harmless, but i did see some questionable characters. But it's downtown. I'd suggest going with a friend, and having a picnic. Just have situational awareness.
