I am so very grateful that organizations like Roadrunner Food Bank exist in our community. The staff is always so friendly and it's really simple to set up time to volunteer. A little while back, I did a group volunteer activity with some friends, and it was a very good way to spend a Saturday. We ended up sorting potatoes and were there for about 2 hours, but opportunities and needs vary from what I understand.

Not only does Roadrunner provide an awesome service to the less fortunate in tHe 505, but thEy hold an annual fund raising event called the Souper Bowl! It is an event that features soups and deserts from all over Burque! Come with an empty stomach, and some money to dOnate in some auction items! This years faves are Ohana Cafe, Gobble this, and desert goes to Nothing Bundt Cakes ! It is an awesome cause with awesOmePeople! I highly recommend the event!

So many years ago, I experienced something of a crisis of giving, and then a catharsis. I was a struggling college kid, the holidays approached, my out-of-state relatives expected gifts and I didn't think it made sense to dig myself deeper into student loan debt to please the masses. Out of dirt-poor necessity, for the first time in my life, I thought deeper about the spirit of giving: Do gifts buy love? Could I shift the narrative, and ask my rather well-to-do relatives to give to a greater cause, screw Christmas presents? I figured What the hell. I sent a letter to everybody, asking to consider giving to a great nonprofit. My personal pick: Roadrunner Food Bank.Naturally, I received plenty of gifts, anyway. But some of the family listened, and sent checks to this organization, and Grandma, she kept the tradition going for decades, because she really believed in the mission of the organization. I'm asking you to do the same. This food bank regularly registers as one of the most impactful nonprofits nation-wide, wherein most of their profits immediately impact the community, rather than the directors. But don't take my word for it. For those of you who would rather read a Yelp review than visit the website, here's a snippet, let this sink in your gut, we're talking about one of the most impoverished states in the Union. Read and give."Thirty-five years later we and our partners are leaders in creating solutions to end hunger in New Mexico. As the largest Food Bank in the state, we distribute more than 30 million pounds every year to a network of hundreds of partner agencies and four regional food banks. In turn, these agencies provide food directly to the hungry in our communities across the state. Agencies we serve include food pantries, shelters, group homes, soup kitchens, low-income senior housing sites, and regional food banks. Through that network, we are helping 70,000 hungry people in our state weekly. That figure is equivalent to feeding a city the size of Santa Fe every single week."

There is a new cooler area where refrigerated trucks can dock and transfer food directly into a refrigerated area. Bravo to the vision, planners, and builders to make this happen! Food safety has been improved as well as food preservation!

This is a review for the 2020 Souper bowl, 25 Jan 2020.This was my first time to experience the Souper bowl event, and it was quite fun.My friend couldn't make it, so he gave us their tickets, and the wife and I went. First off, we had "yellow" tickets, which allowed us to enter about 1/2 hr before the public. It was nice and we didn't realize how crowded it would get once the "main doors" opened, but before hand, we enjoyed about a dozen or so soups and deserts, from various restaurants around the Albuquerque/Rio Rancho area.It was very fun, but once the crowds showed up, it became a bit of a mess, with some areas feeling like a free for all. Otherwise, the soups were delicious, the deserts weren't as tasty, but still were good.Overall, we both enjoyed the event, and would definitely do it again. And knowing all the proceeds going to the food bank is a nice feeling.

I volunteered here during a Yelp event and had such a good time. Everyone was friendly and I enjoyed the fact that I spent my Saturday helping out others. I only did the cracker room but with music on, we all got into a great flow. Please support this local food bank.

Really great organization helping feed the hungry. It is the distribution center helping so many other food banks in NM. Also helps get food in the schools so kids do not go hungry on the weekends. Lots of ways to get involved to help your neighbors. Be sure to check. Souper Bowl is a great fundraiser too that raises money as you get to sample soups from some of the best restaurants in the area.

I used Road Runner Food Bank services during a low point in my life. I was embarrassed and was hoping the people there would be kind. Was I ever wrong. A person by the name of Thuy Stanke spoke to me and was very rude and condescending. A horrible person. She kept saying she hated working there because of Mag the Hag. I hope I never have to deal with her again. Just thinking of it make me go out and get myself a job. Now I will never have to deal with Ms. Stanke again.
