Did a quick food stop and ate here, first time for me, second for the hubby. He had chicken taco plate and I had bean tostadas. Freshly fried and crispy corn tortillas were the base for the tostadas: crunchy with fresh lettuce and tomatoes topping the refried beans (cheese comes on them, too, but I said no cheese). Tacos were made with soft, lightly grilled corn tortillas, came with both red and green salsa on the side. Rice was a little clumpy, but I don't think it was canned. This is a great place for a Mexican meal, service was quick, food was fresh and the prices are excellent.

Solid New Mexican food. Tamales were very good, definitely get them Christmas style so that you can try both the red and green chile. We were happy to discover both chiles were tasty and chunky; the red might have the slight edge over the green. Enchiladas were OK and cheese quesadillas were good, exactly what you would expect from cheese quesadillas. We all thought the beans were tasty. Friendly service, nice and warm inside, a great stop and break from---ugh---fast food on the road!

I'm not sure when this family owned restaurant closed, but it recently reopened to our delight. My husband and I tried it for the first time this afternoon. I liked the open and airy atmosphere when I walked in. The server brought us a basket of warm chips, just like the kind we get in Mazatlán, Mexico! The chips were served with a green sauce that was quite tasty. The service was friendly and prompt. I ordered the guiso (cubed beef with sliced potatoes). It came with a large flour tortilla, refried beans, and Spanish rice. The guiso and beans were delicious. I thought the rice could have cooked for a just a minute or two longer. My husband enjoyed the combination plate, which included a chicken enchilada (choice of chicken, beef or cheese), soft beef taco (choice of chicken or beef), and a tamale. The plate was also served with refried beans and Spanish rice. The food was yummy, had great flavor, and mild spice. Coming from Texas, we like our food spicy hot. I think next time we go, and we do plan on going back, we'll ask for jalapeño on the side or their hottest salsa : pWe'll be recommending this place to all of our friends!

Stopped in for lunch. Thick tortilla chips, did not seem fresh, but otherwise OK. Accompanied by a nice tomatillo sauce and a red salsa - not very spicy, but flavorful. So far, so good. Ordered cheese enchiladas; surprised to learn that both green (expected) and red (very unexpected) chili made with meat (pork). As a casual vegetarian, this was not good. So, ordered cheese enchiladas with red, hoping that waiter was wrong. He was not - large chunks of meat in the red chili. I just scraped off and proceeded. Cheese enchiladas were simply rolled corn tortillas filled with shredded cheese. Note: shredded. Not even hot enough to melt the cheese. Rice and beans OK, but also not hot. Not a good experience - but I dared not complain, given that the second waiter was wearing a very large revolver on his hip. One wonders . . . ?
