This little restaurant is a treasure. It's got limited hours (closes at 1:30) but the food is delicious. If you're craving excellent Mexican food, this is THE place to go. It's tiny so you may have to wait 10-15 minutes to be seated. Not a fancy destination...just really good food and friendly people.

Working in the restaurant business , I know how important it is to hire great staff, in order to bring customers back. Perea's is a very tasty and most of the time are welcoming and work very efficiently , but today we encountered a very discourteous and unwelcoming waitress.. When taking our order she basically forced us to place our order, not being ready. I continued to order chips and salsa and in the end we didn't get them anyway. She ignored us and when we brought it to her attention and ask to take the chips and salsa off , she stated they were free anyway.. Before we were seated I had already heard this waitress telling the cashier staff, that she was basically tired and done for the day, so when realizing we got her as our waitress, I already did not have high expectations. You may be done, but the customers want a great experience and do not want to hear this. I really hope customer service is taken as a priority and corrected when not.Thank you to the great waitresses that do work there and are always welcoming, regards to how busy they get.

Go where the locals go. I had asked last night where I needed to go for breakfast and this is one of the two spots I was told not to miss in ABQ. Sunday morning was busy but a table for one opened up after about 15 minutes.Warmly greeted by my waitress who brought a menu and coffee. I chose the Huevos Rancheros and selected both red *and* green chile. It didn't take long before it arrived. While it doesn't photograph well, it was absolutely delicious. A big portion with two fried eggs hash browns, tortilla and shredded cheese. A meal worthy of a ranch hand indeed.[Review 21079 overall - 126 in New Mexico - 42 of 2024.]

The mission to find breakfast places continues, and Perea's got their turn. This unassuming place feels almost hidden from the traffic on Juan Tabo, yet the visible sign has caught our attention many times. The decor is simple and unequivocally New Mexican. A mix of young and seasoned patrons, couples, friends, and families filled the space. Our server was quite kind and helpful when choosing our plates. We got the huevos rancheros and adobada with an egg plates. The adobada tasted like home! The green chile was nice and spicy, and the red chile was powerful and spicier. Both plates needed a bit of salt for the flavors to pop and harmonize, and overall it was a nice experience that we would likely want to have again. Until next time!

We ate at Pereas last week. The location has ample parking with a handicap spot out front. The dining room was clean and well lit. The waitstaff were patient, knowledgeable about the menu, and quick. The food was outa sight with a northern New Mexico style not commonly found this far south of Santa Fe. I enjoyed a beef stuffed sopilla with red chile. The sopapilla was perfectly tender and crispy at the same time. The red sauce was rich in body and flavor with a chimayo vibe. Just spicy enough without being overly hot. The huevos rancheros that Sarah had was equally exceptional with everything on the plate made to perfection.Quick personable service and great food. Definitely going back for some more of this authentically delicious food.

Great food! Hot chile! Great service! My only complaint is that it's really loud. Still my favorite breakfast in Albuquerque.

This is such an underrated gem- I've been coming here since I was a kid and my mom has been coming here since she was a kid. This is true authentic new mexican food, prices are good and so is their service. If you're not from here make sure to check it out to try some of the best chili in new mexico. If you're a resident and haven't been, this will be your new go-to restaurant. Indoor seating with new mexican decor makes it even better. This is my favorite New Mexican restaurant definitely give it a try!!!

Perea's is so good. The huevos are arguably the best in town. But they have so many rules!

Long John Silver don't live here no mo. But Perea's does. It's a perfect place for a hole in the wall and I got a lot of love for em. In we go all 11 tables occupied so it's a short wait. Our server shows up, young guy, great attitude & let the joking begin. Although the food is no joke! It was the Beef Chimichanga, hold the rice & beans and red chile in the side. It came out nicely fried, stuffed with meat and not holding up the weight of 1/2lb of cheese. They let diners know their chile is hot - yes it was. I'm not a good judge of "hot" for me it was warm, others - well??? Be warned. The Mrs got 2 eggs with chorizo mixed in. It was excellent, they didn't skimp on the chorizo either. It looked like more chorizo than eggs & it had a bite to it. It came with a thick tortilla, not a fan I prefer mine thin. Our meal was reasonably priced and delicious. Good food + excellent service = 5 stars & server well tipped.

Food is wonderful and well worth the reasonable prices. The whole beans are excellent and the Sopapillas are divine. I swear they float down to the plate from heaven. Pearea's does an exceptional job on the Sopapilla and offers chorizo. The problem is service. Perea's employees do not help one another. The front desk is overwhelmed consistently with customers paying for meals such that those waiting to be seated get backed up. And waiting time of customers is apparently of NO CONCERN to Perea's. Evidently the front desk person is also supposed to wash off tables before seating new customers. However the same tables were washed off by waitresses while people were STILL waiting. Lots of open tables and NO one is being seated! Frustrated, I asked a waitress why she wasn't seating people while the front desk person was busy. Her reply was that this WASN'T HER RESPONSIBILITY. Then the front desk person begins to seat people all at once, creating a cyclical burden on cooking and waitress staff. I watched this happen during my one hour breakfast that could have taken 45 minutes as it does in most well-run breakfast restaurants. Customers are all waiting more than they should, management can improve the situation by getting staff to work together.
