True love everytime i walk in the door! And true love when i walk out because I ALWAYS have something new. Great atmosphere, great service. And besides pens and pencils and journals and greeting cards of all types, I also buy earrings here!

This place is a gem! Great stationery, pen refills and other products related to writing. I love old fashioned snail mail and this place has so much to make it even more special.

Courtesy costs nothing.Originally, I thought I could let what happened here today go, but friends and family, with similar experiences at this place, encouraged me to put together this review. The owner humiliated me in front of total strangers. For more, read on.First, I believe the owner of any business has the right to treat customers any way they want and suffer or enjoy the consequences. Caveat emptor. Ok?Today, after two and a half long years I had the opportunity to make the hour drive across northern New Mexico to shop at what has been one of my favorite specialty stores in Albuquerque. For me, money and time are tight, but I can always find something interesting there, particularly when Xmas is coming.I was met with the owner's usual (a memory from before) disinterest. A few of my questions about pen refills, greeting cards, etc were met with mild irritation. The owner offered a few remarks about troublesome customers (I guess I'm one of them), lack of business, poor lighting, and other problems. Engaging the owner in light conversation went nowhere.During this time three other customers came in and began a lively conversation with the owner. I settled on a few things and made my $73 purchase. I took a step back and started to talk with one of the other customers. Having heard one of them say they traveled a lot I mentioned, among other things, an art supply store they should visit in Denver. The owner angrily said, in earshot of the other customers: "my time is extremely valuable". Wow. That was unexpected. I wasn't even speaking to the owner. For me it was humiliating. In effect, I was being told, now that I've made my purchase, to leave. After thinking it over I decided to return what I had bought. Petty, I guess. But my time and money are extremely valuable to me, too. After listening to more whining from the owner at least the refund was quick. But, I've had enough of the place and its owner and see no reason to shop there or (as a professional travel advisor) recommend it to others. My best advice to those who must shop there is to know exactly what you want, get in and get out as fast as possible to avoid a testy and harried shopkeeper.
