Pat Hurley Park: Lets go back to this Park in the 70's. To start off with I was just a little duckie roaming around the park with my aunties and uncles! We'd walk there from my grandparents' house which was just a few short blocks away. Back then this park for teen's was the 'it' park from what I gathered. It was "The" place to park with your bf/gf. The parking back then sat right on the edge of the east side of the park with amazing views of the city lights. There was also a walking bridge that went over the driving trail. I enjoyed walking over it. Now to 2018: Well that park is long gone but the new Pat Hurley sure is a beauty of a park which still has an amazing view of the city lights and so much more! There are walking trails around the park, some of these trails guide you through steps down to the bottom park of the park, (this park at the bottom might have a different name I'm not quite sure) walking back up the steps on either the north or south side are definite fat burners as you take the trail back up to the park! Great exercise! There are picnic tables to enjoy a meal! The last meal I enjoyed here was with my friend Andrea C. We picked up Tacos at The Taco Bus located just a mile from the Park. We grabbed a picnic table and enjoyed our tacos as we looked at the amazing views of the Sandia Mountains as well as the city views. If you have out of town guests this park is a definite stop so you can share the beauty of the City of Albuquerque! If you have kiddos this park has a fun playground! And if you're like me and you like photo-ops this park is definitely a place to take beautiful pics!

If you do cityscape or landscape photography this park has a great overlook. It is located in an OK part of town, not great but not too dangerous. The park has a small playground, and paved paths. It is situated on top of a mesa and has several steps to the bottom of the park. There is also gondolas for sitting.I plan to go back at sunset and photograph the city lights and mountain. If you want to see all of Albuquerque and beyond, go check it out!

This is a very unique park located on the westside of Albuquerque. Its got an upper and lower part to it, with stairs that are great for exercise. In fact, that's the sole purpose that I go to this part is to climb the stairs. It's a good workout. And while I'm there, I see others who appreciate the stairs as well. There is a small Community Center on the lower part of the park, some basketball courts, a small playground, a tennis court or two, a grassy area, and several little paths for joggers or walkers. It's not quite in a very good area. The neighborhood doesn't seem so bad, but there have been some "shady" people at the park almost every time I've went. So just be mindful and cautious is all. The upper part of the park has more grass and some little exercise equipment and a few benches. The view is spectacular though. You can see almost all of Albuquerque's east side. If you go for just one reason, let it be the view. I'm sure you'd appreciate it.

Holy hell does this place have a shit ton of stairs. Be prepared to walk your ass off to reach the top. Or, you could just drive up there by going around the back way. Excellent view of ABQ though. Needs more shade to have a decent picnic. Saw some stoner kids in the gazebo. Wife wanted to chill there because of available shade, but stoner kids weren't having ANY of that, so we had to leave early due to heat exhaustion. I'd go back though.

This park is a magnet for crime! Teens shooting at each other all the time! What happened to cops cruising the city parks after 10pm? Bet APD would make their quota and actually bust real criminals but instead they busy doing routine traffic stops and road blocks cuz it's easier sad Albuquerque has gotten so bad even the cops scared to do their job.

The Good: This place appears to provide a kind of "scenic overlook" of greater Albuquerque, in the way you might pull off the side of a highway and see a mountain range. This is a lovely area of town, in that houses rim the wide Rio Grande valley, and it looks like this park was built to showcase this beauty. I say "looks like" because I didn't have an opportunity to actually experience the park. Let me explain. The Bad: When we pulled into the lot I noted four other cars, all with drivers and dogs, just sitting around. I also noted a lone dog sort of roaming the grounds. He didn't look dangerous, but you never know. I took a chance, brought my kid out to go see the playground, the dog came over, hung out with us. An elderly local rolled down her window. "Don't worry about him, he don't bite, but nobody knows where he come from." But the dog soon took interest in the other locals and the other dogs, causing a massive calamity; one woman screamed in a blood-curdling pitch I've only heard in horror flicks. Anyway, turns out the dog had been hanging out at that park for many days, Animal Control had been called several times, yet nothing had actually been done about it. This was a tired, true reality of the more neglected neighborhoods in the 505, and all of the ruckus scared my daughter beyond belief, sending us right back to the car. What a shame. Later, my daughter actually said to me, "Daddy, I don't wanna go to the park." Nice. The Verdict: Good for you, Albuquerque. Albuquerque, good for you.
