So there are many mixed reviews. Prices are reasonable for a reason. If you are looking for authentic Mexican this is not the place. It is for those who are looking to eat a meal but not picky on taste. They have an over 55 yrs old $9.95 menu. Thank goodness that is what we did, because I spent any more than that on our food I would have been so mad for the waste. My taco salad the cheese was not melted and the taco shell was bland not crunchy or tasty. Shredded chicken was not seasoned. It tasty like boiled chicken shredded. Service was a nice young man. Not his fault the food is not the best. Nothing wrong with the decor. There are booths and tables.

My friend and I came to the bar for some margaritas and nachos. The bartender was super busy but she still made time to greet us when we sat down and got us some waters. A server got us some chips and salsa. The salsa was decent but did taste a bit like ketchup. We ordered house margaritas that were flavorful but could've been a little stronger. We asked for beef and queso on our nachos which we got a platter of to share. The nachos were really good. We couldn't even finish the whole platter. We loved the ambiance of the bar too. It's a cozy little place with great service! Much quicker and cozier than El Patron. We will be back to try other food. Cheers!

Excellent New Mex lunch. Their menu is pretty expansive, with lots of great options that make it pretty hard to decide, but I went Adovada stuffed Sopapilla w/Papitas. It was an Herculean effort to finish the platter, but it was delicious, and that sure helped the cause. Real nice decor to set the mood, too. Staff were pretty busy, but we were in no rush, as three old high school buds gabbing away and reminiscing of decades or yore. I'm not local, but visit every year, so I can see another visit in the future with that great menu...

Service was really slow with few in the restaurant. Didn't acknowledge us when we walked in. Took forever for our waitress to finally wait on us. Over an hour to get served tacos and rice. And the food was cold. I suppose the server was occupied on her phone or something. The fiesta tacos were tasty and tender.

Papa Felipes on Menaul past Eubank. Very nice place inside and the food was very good. Everything had a good flavor, especially the beans. The red and green chile sauces were sort of runny, but good flavor. After I ordered I forgot to tell the waitress I wanted onions, so I let her know. The onions never were delivered. I will return.

Two stars only because the food is good! The "manager" on duty re-assigned the pleasant and efficient server who assisted us - for a while. Only after going in search of her to get the rest of our meal did we learn that she had been assigned to another room and was told another server would finish up with us. We couldn't find that mythical "manager," although someone was closeted in a small office (but didn't seem to care about how customers are treated). Whether it's the new owners/managers? or??And the luck of the draw will determine whether you are served by people with lots of visible tattoos and different kinds of rings. Perhaps you, too, will have the good chips and salsa delivered by someone with a body covered, scalp to ??, i tattoos. Very unpleasant! We have not eaten at Papa Felipe's for some time, but were in the area and stopped; big mistake. (Our server and one other were well groomed and their appearances were not off-putting.)

I have been a loyal patron of Papa Felipe's since they first opened. The food has always been excellent, the chile has always been hot, and the service has always been fantastic. But over the last 6 months I have seen a steady decline in all of these. The queso which had always been one of my favorites is a lot thinner now than it used to be the red chile seems a lot milder then I can remember. The last four times we have been there they have messed up my order. I don't know how you can possibly confuse a chicken chalupa with a carne asada burrito, but they managed it. A while back when I said my order is wrong it took 20 minutes to get the replacement. Prior to the sale of the store, you never had to ask for garnish. It was always there. Now it seems to be an inconvenience to ask for garnish and sour cream on the side. While the prices are still very reasonable we don't go there to save a buck. We go there for what has always been a wonderful experience. But alas, I must bid goodbye to Papa Felipe's.

We are loyal and devoted fans of Papa Felipe's, but our meal the other night, wow, NOT GOOD.-restaurant was half empty and not busy on a Friday night-our meal took 20 minutes to get to our table-the papitas were not warm and undercooked-the refritos were all cold and literally only a tablespoon portion with a small amount of unmelted cheese on the top-the puffy taco (our favorite) was smaller than normal and the shell couldn't even be cut with a knife. So disappointed with the service AND especially the food. Now we hear this business was sold a few months back so I think that might have something to do with this steep decline in the quality. NEW OWNER: if you're listening, respond back and prove me wrong.
