Ortegas Jerky

Ortega's has been in Taos for man years and we've enjoyed all of their jerky. Our favorites are the green or red chili bags. The habanero is a second choice.

While traveling for vacation, I discovered Ortega jerky. I tried the habanero jerky and it was heaven. Since then, I've ordered twice thru mail order. However, my last order of the habanero was too spicy to a point of not edible. I was told they had changed suppliers and there was no change in spiciness. However that was not the case. Whatever happened to customer satisfaction??? Finally they offered to provide a shipping label so I can return and get 3 bags of another flavor. I told them due to mobility issues, going to the post office is not an option. Also, what is the point of returning products that has been opened??? My last comment to them was that customer satisfaction is the best business strategy. This comment was 3 days ago. Guess my comments fell on deaf ears.

The first time I ordered from here, it wasn't too bad. I always buy from another place in Albuquerque but they don't ship. I thought I had founda pretty good place and the first time I ordered it wasn't too bad. Not great, but passable.The next time I ordered, I ordered for myself and a coworker. 12 packages of jerky. The lemon pepper was horrible. Most of the bags were shredded at the bottom of the bags. There was so much salt on it, it was half white. I called the number on there and was referred to another number. I spoke to a person that made excuses that the damage was caused by the mail handling and wasn't very helpful at all. Read that they do not make their own jerky so it isn't consistent. I thought Vigil's was bad when they sent me old jerky. This was so salty it was inedible. Lesson learned. Will never order from this dealer again.

Horrible customer service. Unwilling to own up to a unique Christmas gift for an out of town fan. Gift ordered 12/16. Site said order would ship within 2-3 days. 12/28, still no delivery. They want my 85 yr old parents to re-package, re-postage and return mail for a refund. We left my parents house to our home city and the would not refund nor ship a replacement to our address. Don't order online!
