Opcit Books

A used and new bookstore inside the DeVargas Center. Books are piled on each other in stacks which you can meander through. Books are organized by section, and there's a children's and YA section if patrons bring their children with them. Most of the books are used and a decent price. You can't go looking for something specific, though that's half the fun to wander and see what you'll find. There is this Santa Fe location, then one located in Taos. There were many boxes being sent up to the Taos location which were blocking small alcoves in the store. If I had a suggestion, it would be for that work to be done in the back so customers can access books; I was not able to enter the alcove I wanted to because of shipping boxes. Overall, an eclectic local bookstore that is fun to browse, if cluttered.

Oof, this place is rough. The staff was nice, but it was near impossible to walk through. There are stacks & stacks of books listed "trade in progress." The "new out" table is slim & not very new to say the least. I wanted to like this place & did find a few books on my trip to bring home but the environment is anything, but exciting, more like anxiety inducing. The genre labels are nearly impossible to find in the chaos. Books are priced moderately.

The owner provided personal service and has a rich selection of books at a great value! These books are clearly his joy! Discussed Russian literature and it was a joy to learn from him! Highly recommend this shop. His shop assistants were also knowledgeable and a pleasure to speak with.

Great bookstore with lots of stacks to sort through. You can get a great deal on some newer pieces too! Staff is super nice and there's some free books outside too.

A simply terrific book store providing tremendous value and service to its customers.

Definitely a bit of a chaotic mess but as long as you're the type to dig, it's a lot of fun. My biggest complaint would be a lot of the books are overpriced for being old used books that clearly sit for awhile. Overall I love this place!

Great selection of books and a friendly and helpful staff! My fav bookstore :) A recent purchase includes 1st edition of Donna Tart's, The Little Friend.

Great bookstore! Wow! It is like a wonderland. I came with my family. Everyone found two or more books that they were excited about. The shelves are clearly labelled and well-organized. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Covid-safe practice appear to be in place and were being followed when we were there.

Lots of books and I do mean lots of them. The problem is that there were literal piles and stacks of books blocking the book shelves. It made it impossible to get to certain sections of the store. It's as if they don't have a storage area out of view to store all the excess books. All the shelves are full, too. Time to hold off on new inventory for a while, one would guess. The employees were very friendly and helpful. However, I deducted two stars because of the clutter inside the store and inability to search their inventory properly. Overall, check out the store if you have time and patience to do a treasure hunt through random piles of books or shelves (if you can get to them). Tons of books available.
