oh my goodness! Ya'll, this place was so good. My friend picked this spot for us to meet at. I arrived before her so I was able to check out the menu a little longer and asked the staff some menu questions. The staff was friendly and helpful.Who doesn't want a deep fried tofu patty? I picked the Sando, with the spicy batter and chipotle mayo sauce. I thought the combination would be too spicy but it wasn't. The flavor was very good. The appearance of the fried tofu patty was impressive. It had that golden color to it, it looked crunchy and almost too perfect like it was an ad brought to life. lol. Let me tell you, the crunch was real. they nailed it.I got a side of fries. They were perfectly salted and it came with a side of fry sauce. It was a bit spicy (YUM) and I used that to dunk my sando in. lol. My friend enjoyed her meal as well and the pricing was affordable. (see receipt).Coming from CA, I feel like a meal like this would be crazy expensive. The decor was cute. They had tables and booths. We picked a booth and we were able to talk in peace :) The staff checked on us frequently. The restrooms are outside and you need a key. The outside looks a bit beat up, and I actually drove past it while looking for this place. But the inside is much better and the food is delicious.

I don't usually review fast food places, nor would I normally give one more than three stars -- but Nobody Calls Me Chicken is now the exception to my standard practice. We needed vegan food for one of us and everyone else is good with vegan food so we stopped here after visiting a brewery and distillery downtown. When I saw that a Po'boy was an option, I had to order it because I love Po'boys and I had to see what it would be like. What I didn't expect was that it would rate right up there with some of the Po'boy sandwiches I've had in New Orleans. While the bread fell a tad short of perfect (a bit soft and lacking the crisp crust of a French style baguette), the fillings were excellent. The fried tofu strips were an outstanding analog to fried clams or fried oysters. Along with tomato, pickle, lettuce and remoulade they nailed the classic Po'boy taste and texture. The others had sandwiches resembling chicken sandwiches at a traditional meat based fast food chain -- and they report that were equally satisfied with their meal.Even if the food was not vegan, I'd say it was worth stopping for dinner at Nobody Calls Me Chicken. But to make vegan sandwiches that taste as good as they do means they get five stars from me -- and I rarely give five stars to any establishment !

I've been really excited to check out this new spot especially because I'm a huge fan of Vegos. I personally do eat meat, but I am always happy to find yummy options that allow me to enjoy vegan meals. I've had nobody calls me chicken sandwich at Vegos in the past, and I really enjoyed it. Especially the option to make the bun a cocha bun. I liked the goddess sauce and so that's what I ordered today. It's funny I used to live right by the spot and it's been a few different things over the years but their build out looks really good. We sat outside and the traffic was very hectic considering the area is overall pretty chill. Almost witnessed an accident or two. The service was absolutely not great. I don't know if the guy was just having a bad day but he was super offputting. He was very snarky and unfriendly which really kind of set a bad tone for the meal as a whole.

Went back, and this time tried the po boy. Wow, was that good! I also like the fact that they carry a local kombucha concoction. And, of course, the potato salad was great.

Great new place for vegan food (NCMC is a sister restaurant of a vegan's food haven Vegos)! Honestly, even if you aren't a vegan, chances are you would enjoy the food here without thinking too much that the food doesn't have any meat in it either. The menu is mid size..with most items being sandwiches/chicken tenders (and a vegan bbq, chicken waffles) and the sides like slaw and salad along with it. It's really a casual eaterie place..so nothing fancy or anything. I like that the food tasted fresh and they definitely made it to order (you wait 5-10min for I guess I be done). The fried chicken (tofu) was crispy and not soggy. It was a good size of thick, crunchy on the outside but still with meaty bite feeling when you take a bit into it. Price wise..it's not cheap..but not every expensive either (around $11-12 for a main dish/ item). Overall, a great, new addition to ABQ eateries and vegan place in North UNM area. I wish they do have more items that aren't just typical sandwiches/salad that involves deep fried items though..but hey.. the deep fried vegan meat seems to be the main selling point of this shop..so who am I to have that wishful thinking, right?

Food was delicious, service lovely and the location easy and convenient. The buffalo sauce was perfect and we ordered the coleslaw. Id like to go back and try their soy based sandwiches.

I could rate this as 3/5 or 4/5, but I see their effort and they're a new shop, so I'm giving it 4/5. Disclaimer: I eat meat.Food: it was okay.- Spicy chicken sando with golden goddess sauce - I like a good hot chicken sando, so I wanted to try theirs. I asked which sauce to get, and I was advised the golden goddess (BBQ mustard, sweet and tangy) or the popular chipotle mayo (spicy), with preference to golden goddess since the sandwich was already the spicy chicken. Turns out that spicy chicken is barely spicy, so I wish I got the chipotle mayo in hopes that it would have been somewhat spicy. My impression of the tofu patty is that I didn't even think about the fact that I was eating tofu because the other elements of the sandwich pulled my attention toward them, like the fried breading of the tofu and the softness of the sandwich bread (plus the tofu is plain, unfried tofu - kind of unnoticeable). So your enjoyment of the sandwich might depend on whether you want to know you're eating tofu (which I don't care about) or if you want that thought to be in the background. Also, while eating, I had the thought that I didn't want to finish it (I rarely feel that way about food), it was that unexciting/uninspiring to me.- Po'Boy - I liked this better because the fried soy curls were more interesting than the tofu of the chicken sando. They use the same kind of bread (just different shape) as the chicken sando.- Both were pretty plain, uncomplicated, simple sandwiches. Not super exciting. If I went back, I'd try the Tenders & Waffles to round out my overall impression of the place.- Potato salad - pretty tasty- I agree with Joop V.'s review that it's not cheap, but I guess it's not priced completely out of reach.Service:- This place had an opened-recently vibe (which they had). The person at the register and who brought out the food was friendly and attentive to everything going on in the restaurant, which was interesting to observe. They seemed to be really observant and engaging with everything. I sensed a slightly fraught, anxious energy, probably because they want the business to succeed. They checked on us an appropriate amount.- What would elevate the service is if they tape down the paper placemats on the trays when it's windy and the customer is sitting outside.Ambiance:- I liked the view of Indian School Road as I sat outside on a cool, overcast, slightly windy day.- It was rather occupied and busy, but it didn't feel chaotic, probably because it's spacious. There's ample seating inside and outside. I liked the decorating and white/orange color scheme. It used to be an auto repair shop (the bathrooms are outside), and there's a picture of it hanging on the wall, in homage to its history.- It was interesting to notice that I felt acutely aware of the transactional nature of a restaurant, in which one side prepares the product and the other side lines up, pays money, and consumes the product. I'm not sure why that awareness was so heightened here. Maybe it was my mood at the time; maybe it was just the thought that the drinks and desserts are probably bought from somewhere (not made in-house), and I could see the bags of bread on the counter; maybe it was the newness of the restaurant. Perhaps I'll go back to see how my impression evolves over time.

I live dangerously close to this delightful sando shop. I've enjoyed nearly every item on the menu. It's all so good. My absolute fav is the Po Boy Sandwich. Holy moly, is it delicious. The mashed potatoes, gravy and slaw are seriously yummy too. I'm so happy to have more vegan options in Albuquerque. (Selfishly. I wish they were open on Sundays, but I imagine the hard working owners need some time off )

I would love to give this place five stars. I've been a vegetarian for a very long time not vegan yet cuz I love cheese. The food is delicious the atmosphere is very pleasant and friendly the people are wonderful who work there my only complaint is the bread. I wish they would invest in some nicer bread that doesn't just get squished and soggy in a sandwich. I've had several different types of sandwiches and the bread is always the same. I really nice sourdough bun would be outstanding!

The food here is so good it's never intact long enough for me to take a photo. The best I can do is this blurry photo of my son eating tenders. Thankfully he didn't finish his meal (he's my low-eating kid) so I had the joy of finishing it. Everything here tastes good so don't overthink when you order, even if you aren't a full-time vegan. Oh, and am the sauces are incredible too.We like eating outside here most of the year, but the inside (and the bathroom) are all very very clean.
