Nexus Brewery is a gem that never disappoints, and it's become one of my go-to spots whenever I'm craving great comfort food and a laid-back atmosphere. This Black-owned business has a well-deserved reputation for its fried chicken, which absolutely hits the spot every time--crispy, juicy, and full of flavor. The catfish is just as fantastic, with a perfect golden crust and tender inside that makes it hard to pick a favorite between the two.And let's talk about the sides. The mac and cheese here is creamy, cheesy, and the kind of delicious that keeps you coming back for more. It's clear they take pride in every dish, and everything tastes homemade and authentic.Beyond the food, Nexus Brewery has a great vibe with friendly, attentive servers who make you feel right at home. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, and there's always a positive energy that adds to the whole experience.Nexus Brewery is consistently good, and I love supporting this business that's built a reputation on quality and community. If you're in the area, it's a must-visit for some of the best fried chicken and catfish you'll find anywhere. The beer is fantastic, too!

Really Disappointed with Our Group ExperienceI've always loved supporting local restaurants, but our experience at Nexus last Wednesday was a huge letdown. Our leadership group of 14 (diverse group from Ohio, Texas and New Jersey) chose it for dinner, and we were excited for a good meal--but it ended up being a frustrating night. One of our group members got there at 5:30 PM to hold a table, yet we weren't seated until 7:45PM. Two hours of waiting! Meanwhile, there was a group of eight sitting in the small area in front of the bar, and we assumed once they left, another table would be added so we could finally sit. Nope. They stayed put, and the hostess later told us we couldn't even sit there anyway because it would be a fire hazard. So why wasn't a better plan in place for us somewhere else in the restaurant? To top it off, by the time we ordered, the kitchen was out of catfish--so a bunch of us who wanted fish and chips were out of luck. And with the kitchen closing at 8:30, we didn't have many options.the whole thing was just frustrating, especially because we NM folks were bragging that it was black owned, local business. I hope they figure out a better system for large groups because this was not it. And the poor hostess could not figure out a solution. The waitress was nice enough but flustered by it all and struggled to manage letting people know about the place being out of catfish- oh, a whole persons order was forgotten all together so she ate parts other people's meals

A return visit to Nexus brewery and restaurant deserves a new menu item and a new review.Wings were on our mind as we were using the mapping feature on yelp to find the best place for wings near closing time. The traditional buffalo wings met expectations. The wings were on the larger side and cooked perfectly. The red chili barbecue wings were cooked well. If I had a chance to order them again, I would get the non-breaded version. The beers were very tasty. I ordered the imperial stout.I'm glad to have returned to Nexus and look forward to my next visit to try something new .

Fun spot with plenty of seating. You can order to-go food and beer up front or sit in one of two open areas. The bar area has plenty of TVs. Service was a bit slow, but our guy let us know he was new. And he was hustling! Solid beer selection (the honey wheat was stellar). BBQ is solid enough. I had sliced brisket, which came out a little cold but with nice flavor and juice. Fried okra was solid, too. Would recommend trying a flight of beers for sure!

Took it to go. Very salty greens, greasy chicken and dry flavorless fires. Unfortunately the only southern food spot in the city.

Another great dining experience at Nexus Brewery. We stopped in for a late lunch and had a lovely time. We also found out that we aren't the only Santa Feans that make a pilgrimage to Nexus when we visit ABQ. Overheard another customer telling our waiter that she stops in to dine and take some food home to Santa Fe, too.I usually try to work my way through a good menu, but after I had the chicken dinner with mashed potatoes/gravy and collard greens, I have stopped. I tell myself I'm gonna try the catfish. Then the chicken dinner just comes out of my mouth when the server asks my order. All three elements are exceptional. Chicken is crispy, potatoes are creamy, and the collards are perfectly seasoned and delicious. I took half of my meal home to enjoy for supper. My husband was smart. He had the chicken and waffles in the restaurant and ordered gumbo/shrimp and red beans/rice to take home for later. Wish I had done that with the catfish! We also brought an order of grilled fish tacos home for our daughter. That's her favorite Nexus offering. She enjoyed every morsel. Our waiter was helpful, attentive, and timed our to-go items perfectly. You can count on us to always come back to enjoy some home cooking at Nexus. But please, please consider opening a new location up the hill, too!

We came here based on a recommendation from a friend. Our body was famished from missing breakfast and hiking the trails of Petroglyphs National Monument. This place did not disappoint. We came here about 15 minutes after opening and it became clear that this is the spot to enjoy lunch and beer. We ordered the IPA and Oktoberfest Beer, Mac and Cheese, two pieces of friend chicken and chili-like dish with Fritos. Well let me tell you...my body needed the food. I will come back here the next time I am in Albuquerque.

I discovered nexus brewing on Yelp and had planned to come here and then I heard some people talking about it in the foodie forums as well so I decided to give it a shot finally. Let me tell you, the fried chicken was the best I've ever had in Albuquerque, hands down. The chicken was soft and juicy, the breading was full of spice and oil, a true Cajun chicken delight haha. It was out of this world amazing. This deserves 5 stars hands down. The fried zucchini was not like any other restaurant I have been to. You can tell they cut the zucchini and create their own breading. When you bite into the zucchini it's soft, and juicy and you can taste that zucchini flavor while you're dipping it in the dressing. I asked for chipotle ranch on the side and I'm glad I did because I think it's a better pairing than the regular ranch it comes with. Definitely 5 star dish I would come back just for this! I thought their Mac and cheese had green chili in it because everyone told me about their Mac and cheese. But it turned out to be plain. They didn't seem to have another Mac and cheese option that I saw. But it was a decent Mac. Maybe I would have liked it more with a bit of flavor on it like spice. It was a solid 3.75'star Mac, with some chili it could be 4.5 stars! The chicken chicharrón was pretty good. I like how it sort of did mock a chicharrón texture which is probably hard to do with chicken. I almost feel like rather than use the same seasoning on it they should make a special dipping sauce for it, something bomb and unique. This was like a solid 3.5 star dish. The fried pickles . Hmm, how do I feel about this. Well I love pickles, so to me it was still good enough to eat for sure. But it was missing the crunch you would expect. If I were the restaurant I would do pickle spears rather than circular cuts and I would more deeply batter it. Maybe then you'll get a nice crunch and texture would improve. I heard someone else complain about this on Yelp, but then the owner responded to them saying the pickle isn't normally like that. So based on that response I tried it. And I'm here to tell you, yes the pickle def has an unexpected texture. To me it was like a 3 star dish but some people may consider it lower. The fries was honestly the worst part. I got home and it was soggy after the staff mentioned how it's crispy.

Awesome food- amazing burger, fries, and chicharrones! Just the right amount of spice in the batter and my daughter exclaimed that these were the best fries she has ever had because they were the exact amount of crispiness! Great small brewery and eatery!
