Outdoor pool is open thru end of Oct!
Don't feel like working out? No worries, lie to your wife and come watch some sports instead of hitting the treadmill.
After a long workout who wants a salad?! Have a heathy Frito Pie! Nothing says healthy like Frito and Pie in the same sentence.
Pizza oven for all your pizza needs!
Free soda before and during and after your workout? Sure!

Cancelling my membership asap. I know albuquerque has a bad meathead steroid problem. But this place is the worst. People dropping weights, yelling, grunting, hogging machines they are not even using. ZERO gym etiquette, and nobody enforces it. On top of this, you have the parking issue. They are constantly coming up with scams to make money, a lot of them involving kids camps and such, obviously clueless parents take their kids to these activities (which everybody knows they are not going to finish) and the place is overwhelmed with cars, and regulars have to find a place on the street. Cars get broken knto all the time. If only their workers enforced proper gym etiquette I would probably stay.

I think the reviews are hilarious!!!! These people expect way too much. This is the BEST gym I have worked out in.Okay so maybe I'm biased as I have been working out here for over 18 years.Yes the sports and wellness chain is pricier than other gyms. But do you get what you pay for? Hell yeah. This is also one of their smallest clubs. I am not a tennis player or racket ball kind of guy. I come here to lift weights. They have done a lot of expansions here and really opened it up. Yes they have a ton of tennis courts and the outdoor pool is beautiful. Also one the biggest assets here are their employees. Where else can you go where they actually do know you by name. Whether it is upper management or the cleaning crew? The trainers here in my humble opinion are the best in town. It's great to watch them with different long term clients. Yes I too have a Personal trainer. The guy is amazing! This is my take. You want a friendly warm atmosphere? Or do you want a big gym with flair and impersonal.

With a recent expansion (of the weight training area) into what were two racquetball courts, this gym promises to be the better choice over the Wyoming branch

I'm not really sure why anyone would sign up for this gym when there are so many other options available. I got sucked in again because my friends are members, but that's not a really good reason to join given that we are never there at the same time. Here are the reasons I am leaving:1) It is absolutely family friendly, despite another reviewer's claim otherwise; the reason I say this is that whenever people completely ignore the age limit signs for the hot tub or locker room or the signs regarding lap swim times, and nobody does anything about it. If you say something, everyone treats you like you're a child hater. I am not comfortable with a four year old boy staring at me while I dress and I don't appreciate children paddling across my lane to retrieve their toys. If you say something to the staff, they kind of roll their eyes at you and petulantly trudge over, when they have time, and then point you out to the offenders.2) There is absolutely no difference between the clientele or class offerings between this and another popular local gym (defined). All the locations are incredibly crowded, other than high point, and in the summers there are frequently swim meets in the evenings so you can't even use the pool you are paying for.3) They charge for many classes, which is ridiculous given the very high price of this gym. Defined lets you take a break and stop paying for a few months if you need to or aren't using it. Try that at Sport and Wellness, and they'll tell you that you have to let them take another extra payment out before they allow you to cancel. 3) the use of towels is free, and there are free shampoos and soaps and lotions and so on, but honestly, for $50 a month less i can certainly supply that on my own. You have to pay extra for overnight locker rental. They charge for many classes, which is ridiculous given the very high price of this gym.If you're a swimmer, join Defined. Otherwise, join the Y.

This place is overpriced. For the large monthly fee - the equipment is old, space is limited, and things get stolen all of the time. Avoid if you can.

This place is hilarious. I have to post this, the gym I'm going to in NM is the craziest surrealist thing I've ever seen in a gym. I'd also like to say that it's considered one of the nicest gyms in Albuquerque. It's has a few amenities I've never experienced in a gym. Such as, full free soda machine! A pizza oven! A television lounge section like you're in a hospital waiting area! And my personal favorite,a menu serving such healthy options as Frito Pie!! I will say one thing that happens at the gym that I find incredible is that whole families go to the gym together. Whole families. A: there are families in NM. Not just young couples with dogs. B: they go to the gym. As a group. And leave as a group. Maybe they have Frito pie but they at least work out too. And do it all as a group. I'd never seen such a thing before. I think it's a great gym. Tons of things to choose from. A billion tennis and racket ball courts. A thousand swimming pools. And more old people than a cruise ship. And lovely front desk staff. A couple of trainers are a little pushy-- like relax...this machine doesn't belong to you. It's way more expensive that other NM gyms. But comparable if your from the coasts. It's about $100 a month. FYI. There are deals but just so you know the standard I think. That's crazy for NM prices. But you get a lot. I recommend. It's not Equinox level, clearly, but the people working out next to you also have the added bonus of not being assholes so that's a fair trade.

I'll start out with the positive as my review is about the management and not the facility. I went to the Del Norte location and the facility was clean and spacious. They have a variety of machines, free weights, and cardio equipment in addition to nice amenities such as the wet sauna, indoor/outdoor pool, and hot tub. I noticed I wasn't going as much and so at the 1-year mark in August, I was going to cancel. Knowing the 1-month advance notice for cancellation, I called the club in July and was told I need to come in person. I was away for work and told them it wasn't feasible, the individual on the phone was courteous and said they could process the cancellation. I thought at the end of the phone call, the process was too easy, and they were very accommodating for my circumstance...Fast forward 2 months (today, 12 September) when I checked my credit card statement and see another charge for September. I call again, and now the manager said they have no record of the request and to call corporate. I call corporate and I'm getting asked who I spoke with, when did I speak with them, etc, etc. I don't know about you all, but usually when you get what you want...ie: cancelling my membership. I don't tend to write down the name of who was assisting. So corporate says they are defaulting to the 1 month advance notification and will have to charge again for next month with the membership now ending in November. As a service member, I'm a firm believer in following through with what you commit to. I hit my 1-year obligation and wanted to end amicably, but the company has other priorities ($$$) instead of customer service.

they make it very easy to sign up for membership , you don't even have to go into one of the locations they will email you a membership agreement. Much more difficult to cancel . I called in to cancel and was told I had to go to a location in person as my signature is required. After driving to the nearest location and providing my account number, I was told I would receive an email that I need to complete to cancel my membership. They made me drive into a location to tell me I will receive an email. In addition to that, I called 2 months prior to my contract expiring to ask what I needed to do to cancel. They told me I could cancel after 2/1/2024. But did not mention that a 30 day notice is required which means I have to pay $100

Been a member since Sports and wellness opened. I swim with HighPoint Masters Swimming and serve as activity director. I've had several coaches in my lifetime, but eric de santos and richard are by far the best coaches I've ever swam with. The facilities are great, staff helpful and kind. Love that there are two pools. Both are great for swimming. Indoor is chest high and great for aqua jogging. There is always a lane available. in the summer weekends, indoor is available when families and kiddos flock to outdoor pool. Foto, outdoor pool opening the first week of April.

This gym, like the rest of Sports And Wellness gyms in Albuquerque, is a full featured gym, meaning that it has tennis, racquetball, swimming, full spa, cardio, and weightlifting. And more than the other locations, this is really more of a tennis club than anything else. I am a bodybuilder, so for me, this location seriously lacks in the weightlifting department. The main gym floor is very small because it is a converted racquetball court. It almost feels like it's a garage gym instead of a real gym. During the peak hours, the space can get extremely tight. There is only one bench press, one incline press, one Olympic rack, one Smith machine, one preacher curl, and one leg press. There are also a few adjustable flat benches. As far as weightlifting machines go, there's a decent selection, but there are many other gyms in Albuquerque, including other Sports And Wellness gyms, that have a much wider selection. The main cardio area is pretty good. There are sufficient machines to be able to find one even when the gym is crowded. The bottom line is that you can get a decent weight lifting session done here if it's not too crowded. But the membership prices from a bodybuilder's perspective are really outrageous. So if you're not going to use the swimming pool, tennis, etc., Then you are much better off going to Defined Fitness. That is really the premier bodybuilder gym in Albuquerque.
