Online store and customer service on the phone leaves a lot to be desired. I ordered a bunch of glazes because they have discontinued Duncan items. Received an invoice time stamped 1:21pm from 'Pat' that only listed the payment for shipping. So I called and got some dingy young woman who blamed the software and 'we're fixing it'. I told her that's my industry and you need to call the vendor, not try to fix it yourself. I was then told that if I was going to be rude she wasn't going to talk to me and she hung up. So I called back. In the middle I received an invoice from 'James' with my items and no shipping.Won't use again because I'm in Rhode Island. Should have taken a ride to Portland Pottery or Sheffield.

This is a wonderful resource for artists and crafty people. They offer an enormous selection of clay items from actual clay to tools to glazed and even kilns. There are also classes offered in their studio space as well as firing services for people who do not own or have access to their own kiln. All of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The prices are very reasonable as well. I definitely recommend New Mexico Clay!!

I had gone in looking specifically for green ware or molds for a specific item. I found there to be very few choices. I found the molds to be the same items on the shelves. When I went to find help the people at the front were not helpful at all. They told me to go and look at all the shelves.

Went to my first of 6 class sessions this past Tuesday. I found NM Clay to spacious, well stocked, and very clean. The instructor Dan was informative and highly approachable. I liked his teaching style. He encouraged us to get a feel for the clay and to not be afraid to struggle at first. I had been wanting to take a class for many years and it appears I've made the right choice by starting my journey at New Mexico Clay!If there's any change I'll update (for better or worse). At this point I highly recommend them!Update: I've got 3 classes under my belt. The instructor, Dan takes time to work with each person based on the student's individual needs and he takes requests. I asked for basic instructions for working with slabs of clay. He took the time to give a demo and had me participate. Now I'm off and running! I was able to build the beginnings of 2 mugs during open studio time. Can I give 6 stars!? Thus far the class at NM Clay has exceeded my expectations.

I had a great experience at New Mexico Clay! Dave gave us an informative tour of the clay mixing area. He was friendly and humorous, he gave us a unique insight into the clay operations. Brant was incredibly helpful in troubleshooting kiln vents issues and in helping me find the clay for my needs. James was friendly and knowledgeable! Everyone there was warm and welcoming. I am looking forward to a long and worthwhile relationship with NM Clay as a clay supplier for my community studio!

I've been ordering glaze from these guys for about 11 years now, in the beginning with good results. They have a wonderful huge selection of glazes and the shipping is as reasonable as you're going to get. The past few years of orders have had mistakes or especially glaze exploding during shipping. I just spoke with Brant the owner who has assured me this has been resolved but was due to staffing shortages, etc. which I do understand. There was also an issue regarding emails not being read or even looked at, which has also been addressed.

This place is RIGHTEOUS. Incredibly helpful staff, fabulous selection of all things pottery, and a nice vibe, as well. It's hard to imagine what they could improve upon. So grateful they exist!! (Special thanks to Crash for terrific help!)

I placed an online order and never received a shipping notification, so I called New Mexico Clay directly. After speaking with an associate, I was told that my order would be shipping in one or two days, and that I would receive an email with tracking info. After 3 more days with no tracking info, I called back. I spoke with 2 more associates after finally being directed to another person who claimed to be the head of the shipping dept. She told me that my order had shipped, and that UPS had 'lost' my order. I asked for the UPS tracking number, and was placed on hold again. When she returned she claimed that the 'computer was down' and she'd have to call me back with that information. I asked her how she could know that my order was lost if the computer was down, and she hung up on me! Now I'm really steamed! I called back AGAIN and finally spoke to a professional person named 'Crash' who was honest and told me they were experiencing shipping delays with many backed up orders, and she wasn't sure when my order would ship. At least she was honest and gave me truthful information. Bottom line: This may be a great store for in-person shopping, but if you don't live in the area I'd suggest looking for another on-line retailer. I usually use Bailey, but they didn't carry what I was looking for.
