This is probably my 10th review for Monroe's!Like previous reviews, nothing has changed and I am obsessed with this restaurant. First, I love the architecture! The huge glass windows are beautiful! It makes for a great view of the Sandias and the landscape surrounding the building. It also displayed the Christmas tree wonderfully in December. Secondly, I admire the staff. The management must be superb, because I have seen loyal employees there for years. I love how they work together to accommodate everyone's needs. Lastly, the food is great! Serving traditional New Mexican food, that won't disappoint :)Give it a try :)

Meal number two under the watchful eye of guide, Paul Sanchez. He's the leader of what we affectionately call the Albuquerque Eight. It's not a gang or anything like that. In fact, it's the opposite; a group of legal security professionals for larger businesses. Having accomplished a lot in half a day, the nine of us embarked on Monroe's, the King of New Mexican cuisine. NM cuisine was explained to me, but I didn't catch on too well. More peppers, spicier and more flavourful than regular Mexican fare. What a tough time to be the only gringo in the group. 90+ degrees and they want to eat outside! I'll start with that. They have a Gringo menu full of typical standard American dishes. Everyone in the group told my sorry bum to order from. Not a chance. I started with a delicious bowl of Miguel's famous Green Chili Stew which I split with another attorney but wanted it all. Incredibly tasty. Hot!They make wonderful chips and fresh salsa. Apparently, while there are a couple of spice levels for the salsa, if you're connected (like the eight), you can get hotter salsa. How nice.Everyone shared so I tasted so many things. All of them were terrific. I'd advise you to try the NY Strip with Relleno Platter, the Beef & Bean Chimis or any of the Stuffed Sopaipillas. In here, those aren't for dessert or complimentary side bread.Monroe's people are fast and friendly and the prices seemed acceptable (to the best of my knowledge, since I don't pay for any meals down here). They offer a lovely patio, I would think about after sundown.

I've been going to the Osuna location for years. Everything about the place is great. I went to the newer location on 4th and do not like it. The food is the same quality great, but it's a cafeteria environment. Steril, noisey, non descript and void of ambiance. Felt like you eat and go. While eating my lunch, the server approached and asked if I had gotten my check. I said no, I'm still eating My friend who was eating as well, though it rude. What if I wanted dessert? I noticed people didn't stay . So, it's eat and go.

As soon as we pull in the parking lot full. That's always a good sign. We go check in to get a table with a party of five and we're told it's about hour wait. We stay and we waited maybe 20 minutes or so. The server took our drink order immediately along with delivering fresh chips and salsa to the table. I ordered the Mexican pizza with grilled fajita chicken. It was very good! The ambience is casual and relaxing. It's worth the trip!

Great food, located in rustic Martinez/Old Town area. We enjoyed awesome service, the food speaks for itself. Ambiance is filled with employees cleaning floors. Our waiter never returned bug we were picked up by a nice person.

I wanted to experience true New Mexican cuisine while in Albuquerque. A local recommended Monroe's. So on a rainy evening i went and tried two local dishes that are popular and very traditional to New Mexico. I started with Posole, a kind of stew/soup made with pork, hominy, and red chilis. WOW! It was chunky, slightly spicy and hearty. A cup was only $5. The chilis give the stew a real earthy flavor. This was very good. My main entree was the Carne Adovada platter. See the picture. It was huge, fresh, aromatic and colorful. Again, it was chunks of tender pork in a red chili sauce. It came with rice and pinto beans, cheese, and lettuce and tomato. It was filling. It was delicious! It reminded me of a cross between Mexican food and Cuban cuisine. That's my impression. I really liked the New Mexican cuisine, much better than Mexican food. Monroe's is in a new modern building. The space is large and very casual. It was an 8/10 on cleanliness. Lots of staff constantly checking in. It has a cafeteria feel in a way. I ordered the stew as a starter but both dishes arrived together in about 5 minutes. I think they could slow things down a bit to keep a nice "non rushed" atmosphere. The food is definitely worth coming for. Lots of good stuff for a modest price in a new building.

A solid just ok restaurant. I liked the variety offered. They even have a low carb menu option. I got the taco platter. The beef tacos were made with hamburger. Rice was ok. Pricing very reasonable. Service was friendly. Plenty of parking available.

Visiting NM, my family suggested Monroe's, as one of their local go-to spots- hubby & I split the carne adovada stuffed sopapilla & carne asada stuffed sopapilla-both smothered in xmas chili- the sopapillas were massive-amply stuffed with well seasoned, juicy, melt in our mouth meat- loaded with garnish (onion, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese)I really enjoyed the tender 'crunch' of the carne asada mixed with pico de gallo balancing with the softness of the sopapilla & cheese- while the carne adovada had a delicious flavor, the softer shredded meat made each bite a bit soggier soft-I would suggest the meat in an enchilada or burrito instead-what I particularly loved about Monroe's was the option of variety from basic rice, beans, or potatoes sides- as they also offered calabacitas (roasted zucchini)-and they were super delicious! they well balanced the heavier entreewe loved our dishes so much, we went again the next night! I opted for the carne asada stuffed sopapilla again, while my husband got the famous green chili tortilla burger-the burger was well cooked- they creatively made the patty to fit perfectly in the folded tortilla-ensuring every bite is packed! the green chili packed heat-a hearty eat.highly recommend & will definitely add to our rotation of must-go spots when visiting

Had a delicious lunch here today. Had the lunch special. They brought it with tortillas. I said to the waitress that I thought it came with sopas. She took the tortillas away and brought the sopas. She was not the same waitress that took out order. When we paid at the register, the manager argued with us as he was charging us for the sopas. We were paying customers and he couldn't keep the peace by not charging us. Pretty sad!!!
