Milligan Scapes Landscaping and Lawn Care

WORTH THE WAIT!! Alright Happy to give five stars to Milligan Landscape, Harold was great he's a very nice guy and was very pleasant to work with. The concrete work was done extremely well and it looks great. Crew was skilled and very professional. This work is extremely difficult and physically exhausting in the summer heat and they worked quickly and professionally! Minor hiccup in the design that was in no way the fault of the company was happily corrected and no extra charge for the minor tweak! I couldn't be happier with this company. Call now for estimate as they are booked out quite far in advance, they are not the cheapest, Good quality companies are usually not the cheapest. Milligan Landscape is Excellent and well worth the wait and price.

My dealings with this company have been less than satisfactory. While I am satisfied with the finished product I do have to say that mine and my wife's interaction with everyone that is in leadership with Milliganscapes was one of the most unprofessional dealings we've had. Initially the Vice President came out to give us a quote. The notes he took were inaccurate and hand drawn on notebook paper. The quote that was provided to us had removal of previous rock, grading, laying turf and adjusting cobble. There was no breakdown of supplies and labor or breakdown of cost per hour of labor, only a total of right around 10k. We expressed concerns with everyone from the owner, Vice President, to the job foreman about what we wanted done. Instead of a professional response and correction of things we wanted done, there seemed to be limitless excuses and finger pointing mostly at myself and my wife. There was very little communication regarding what we wanted while the job was underway. Some of their workers were even sleeping at points in our backyard on break while my wife and 3 month old daughter were home alone which I feel is extremely unprofessional. At one point I had to kick a foreman off of my property for arguing with us and yelling at my wife. That person returned as the front man not once but twice to fix the problems we had with the job. After about 3 tries to get their final payment they did correct most of the things we were unsatisfied with. Honestly we were just done dealing with them. The general feeling I got from hiring them to do our yard was that it was about what was easiest for them and not what we wanted done. Every little thing we wanted done was going to be another couple hundred dollars again with no labor breakdown. Side note when I had my yard done initially by Hilltop, I told them I needed to plant four trees, they picked them up and installed them with no additional charge. I will never use or recommend Milliganscapes again, and the person who recommended them will not either.

The last 2 or 3 years they have done a lot of damage to our yard. The crew is really reckless. The broke pickets in our wood fence, destroyed lawn edging, broken many sprinklers, etc. I finally just gave up. They just get worse every year. I would never recommend them to anyone.

I really enjoyed working with Harold and his staff they did a wonderful job in our backyard. They arealways on time very professional and They did exactly what they said they would do. And they did it in a very timely matter less than a week .Alsothey worked hard and diligently and got the job done it looks wonderful!I would tell anyone who wants any kind of landscaping done in their yard of any kind to call this company.

I had my lawn done in April 2017. They had to uproot the sod and replace it because it wasn't laid well a month after the job. At first I was pleased with the attention to detail but looking at my lawn 3 years later that same area they took up still is not taking. Every summer it is a struggle in that area. The sprinkler system we paid for has been said to not be efficient at hitting the middle area of our lawn, the grading they were suppose to do to prevent the pooling of water from the lawn never happened. Instead of having a beautiful backyard to spend my summers in with my family, I have a $5000 eye sore that I keep dumping more and more money into to try to fix. I've asked the owner himself to help- to advise me on what I Could do. I still have not received a response. I feel unless you're spending $10k plus you're not seen as a valued customer. I'm defeated and disappointed at this point. In 2017 I had left a glowing review- if I had waited a summer later that would not have been the case. I was hesitant to post a 3 year review but here it is. I would have gone with a less expensive landscaper who was still small enough to care about his clients and their projects.

The landscaping company installed artificial turf and rock in my front yard which was a mess of invasive weeds and some wildflowers. The three man crew sent two week and did a fantastic job. They had attention to detail and worked very hard to make the yard beautiful.

Harold and his crew work hard to correct any issues that arise. Weeds suddenly got out of hand and bushes grew overnight. His crew works diligently to keep on top of everything. Due to time constraints some work gets put off until the following week, but is always done. We've used their services for about 5-6 years.

Oh boy where to begin. We first contacted Milligan Scapes in January 2020 for a whole backyard landscaping job. I spoke with Gary, the owner, and we agreed on the work requested, he drew up an estimate, and then a contract. My husband and I had no problems and we were really excited to get our yard fixed. The company and owner seemed very professional and efficient, while drawing up the estimate. Unfortunately, when the crew showed up to do the work in April 2020, it was a totally different story. The crew would arrive at random times in the morning to begin work. One day 8:30am, the next 11:00 am. One day they quit working at 2:00pm in the afternoon and never came back!!!! Seems unprofessional to me to have no apparent set schedule, but no biggie if they did the work in a timely and proper manner. But I caught the crew, napping under my kitchen window where they thought I couldn't see them, but I did and turned on loud music to wake them up. One crew member flirted or chatted with my neighbor ALOT, while he was supposed to be working. And exchanged phone numbers with my neighbor, the only reason I know that is because my neighbor told me. I understand the need for work breaks, but napping on the job and flirting with the neighbor on the clock is just unprofessional.So now the review for the work completed. We asked for gravel rock removal in beds, A pik line installed, small siberian elms removed, a cypress hedge removed, a pea gravel area installed, two brick flower beds removed from the lawn, new sprinkler heads, removing flagstone on a patio area to put weed barrier underneath, and then installing the same flagstone back, and new sod for the lawn area. All in all a bit over $10,000. First the bad work.....they removed the gravel from all but two of the gravel beds, leaving gravel mixed with dirt in two beds. They were paid to remove ALL the gravel from the beds. And on top of all that they started laying weed barrier and gravel in flower beds that were not supposed to have gravel added. I could not immediately go outside and tell the crew they were doing the wrong job because I have a 2 year old child that I was getting to nap and my husband was at work. So I tried calling Gary(the owner) no answer, so I called the company number. When I called and explained to the woman on the phone that the crew was doing the wrong work, she told me to handle it, and hung up on me. I called Gary again and got ahold of him....he then asked if I could correct his crew for him!!!! He expected the customer to fix his crews mistakes!!! He apologized once I told him that is not MY job, and came out to our home. He apologized and told us the crew boss was new and he made a mistake. Apparently the work order was to difficult for him to understand or follow correctly. So next day the SAME crew boss shows up and works on our yard!!! And yes this was the same guy who flirted with my neighbor all day one day. The elms are still there, the crew didn't dig out the roots like they are supposed to, so of course a bit of rain, and bam....the elms are back strong as ever. It seems like it was too tough of a job to dig out these small 4 ft high elms for three guys. The flagstone patio seemed good for a while, up untill a bit of rain and now there are lots of weeds coming through. It seems they either didn't put a weed barrier down, or if they did it was a bad one. The rest of the work completed was done pretty well. The sod looks great, but I am not sure how long that will last. The sprinkler heads they installed don't really water the center of the lawn at all. I asked (Gary) if the sprinkler heads would work, with our low water pressure here in Rio Rancho. He assured me they would work fine. They do work, on occasion, when the water pressure is good, but not consistently. We were also told that Milligan Scapes would come back out 15 days from the date of sod instillation to fertilize the lawn. It is now almost July and we NEVER received our fertilizer, and they didn't apply it. Not even a phone call from them. We did however receive a letter in the mail asking us to vote Milligan Scapes for the top ABQ landscaping seevice. No refund on PAID services offered at all. I normally don't post anything on Yelp. But I felt so burned by this so called great company that I felt it necessary to try to warn other people, so maybe someone else doesn't make a $10,000 mistake.

Would not recommend this company to anyone, they do not honor their own contract and does as little as possible when on your property they have no one come to make sure the job is getting done as it should be. Paying for full service but only getting bare minimum. very very disappointed please don't waste your time or money on them.

Excellent service.had front yard sprayed for weeds. Gentle man that did yard was just great. Great price.
