The Millicent Museum is a must see in Taos! The museum is very well organized and Maria's work is amazing. (Her husband painted those designs by hand!). The gift shop is nice and has real artists work. Therefore, the prices are going to be a bit high but worth it because of the quality and craftsmanship of the work. You will not be buying some knock off mass produced jewelry.

Millicent Rogers is my hero. I had never heard of her until my first visit to Taos years ago. Her fascinating life is inspiring. What a time to be alive. She understood the magic of Taos. I highly suggest reading up on her before visiting the museum. It will make the experience even more immersive, as the museum is her former home. The museum is perfect to explore with kids! They even have a coloring station. There are so many fascinating pieces of art, sculpture, furniture, and jewelry. The collection is well curated. Take the time to read about her. The plaques are very informative. The museum even features her own drawings and stories she wrote for her children. Her style was whimsical and beautiful. She clearly was a creative soul. The gift shop is also pretty groovy with jewelry and books and lots of stuff. Pricy but worth it.

Excellent museum. I recommend it to anyone visiting the area as you will see and learn about the art of Taos. The collection of artifacts is top notch. It was a short ride from town on the way to see the Rio Grand gorge.

Great collection of southwestern art. I learned a lot about different pottery styles each Native American nation has.It also included a good amount of religious art. Not really my style, but I appreciated the extent.Millicent Rogers was an interesting aristocrat. I liked the display near the end of the museum of her drawings. She had a very whimsical style.I didn't like the brightly colored walls in each of the rooms. I felt it detracted from the pieces on display.

Lots to see. Local local local feeling. I always enjoy museums and this one is special. The gift shop is over-priced. They need to visit the Georgia O'keefe museum gift shop in Santa Fe - very reasonable prices for fun fun merchandise. When I was there I spent $$$. And looked around foreverrr. Here - no. Too expensive. They need better merchandising. Now to the artwork and information on Millicent. Fabulous. Gorgeous. Interesting. Worth the museum fees. Photos to follow...
