This isn't just a lesson. This is an art and she is state of the art. It was astounding to see how in control one can be with such a massive animal. I'll definitely be going back. Genevieve is a true horse whisperer. Go find out for yourselves!!

Genevive is one of the most loving and sincerely gifted horsewo'manship teachers I know. Her animals love her so much that she is nick named 'snow white' as you will notice when you visit this magical place she is followed by two cats and three dogs. They literally follow her wherever she goes on the ranch and that tells me alot about a person (kind, empathic). She is empathic, and professional, a great mix. The huge covered arena is magic! The million dollar veiu is amazing and because it is high up there is shade and a cool breeze. Also at night, lit up, it is beautiful. Knowing Genevive and working with her on a weekly basis for five years I never once have seen her lose her cool, she remains professional and consistantly there for the students and horses. Miercoles Moon for me is a truly magical, holistic, even healing, place to learn to ride horses. I enjoy how Genevive teaches, how her horses hold the children and make what is already a wonderful activity all the more life changing and deep. If you make the trip to Miercoles Moon from Austin, it is a beautiful journey, one I look forward to. Driving there and back because it's hill country at its best and when you arrive you are in a rarified world created by Genevive, her love, her pixie like sense of fun and her well loved, sensible, calm, happy horses.

My boyfriend and I booked a 90 minute natural horsemanship handling and riding lesson for two at Miercoles Moon recently during our stay at the Miercoles Moon Air BnB (a lovely little Air BnB, by the way) and we had a fantastic experience! Which is especially important to note because my boyfriend was pretty ambivalent about the horse lesson aspect of our weekend getaway. I just thought it would be a fun and different thing to do while on our little vacation in the hill country and we were surprised at what an enriching and informative experience it was! Genevieve and Sumo (the horse we were working with) created a loving and safe environment. We learned how to feel safe around a horse and how to read basic horse body language. We learned how to groom properly and lead a horse safely and we each got a mini private riding lesson. At the end, Genevieve and Sumo did a short natural horsemanship liberty demonstration that was beautiful and inspiring to watch. We left feeling like we had truly connected with the horse and we just learned so much! My boyfriend, was so impressed with the thoroughness of Genevieve's explanations and guidance. He said for the first time in all of his experiences around horses, he felt confident and ready to approach, mount, and just be around a horse. His attitude made a complete turn for the positive. You've heard of horse whisperers? Well, Genevieve is one of those. Genevieve is hands down the best teacher I have ever experienced. Why? Not only is she extremely knowledgeable, but she has that rare gift of encouraging a soul connection to the horse and teaches. She teaches Natural Horsemanship. She works with the horses in gentle ways and is able to verbally control them while ground working, without a whip. She not only teaches the necessary skills for beginners like grooming and tackling but also teaches how a horse thinks, reading and understanding horse behavior and how you can be the leader of your horse by exuding confidence and establishing your place as a leader. This is exactly what my daughter needed after an extended chronic illness that left her virtually bedridden for years. She had lost her confidence and this is giving her the tools to regain her own footing as she works with and gently controls a 2000 pound animal. This is better than therapy. This is a magical experience. Miercoles Moon is tucked up a winding gravel road deep in the hills near Wimberley. Its about a 25 minute drive from South Austin but worth every mile. I didn't know much about the place but when I went to research horse riding lessons, their name came up. The price was more than reasonable. We had no idea what to expect and that it would turn out to be such a wondrous experience. It was raining the day of her first lesson, a gentle rain but with unpredictable bursts of wind. The horse she usually uses for a beginning riding lesson is afraid of the sound of rain on the corral's metal roof so she offered a chose to either reschedule the lesson or to do ground work with a different horse named Odin. We opted to do the ground work because our goal was not only to learn all the basics of riding but to also just be close to a horse. Odin is a gentle giant at almost 2000 lbs and at least 20 hands high.The lesson could not have been more perfect. She is a wealth of knowledge on horses and everything you need to know to have the perfect foundation and establish the much needed confidence in order to ride without fear or hesitation. By the end of her first session, my daughter was calling Odin to her with hand gestures, while he was in full cantor no less. You CAN control a two ton animal with gentle yet confident control. If you're looking to just jump onto a horse, give it a kick or two and ride through the hills, look somewhere else. If you're looking to establish a keen understanding of horse behavior, connect with the animal and learn how to confidently ride or even if you're an experienced rider looking to hone your skills and lead with gentle control, this is the perfect place for you.

My 8 year old daughter really enjoyed her private intro lesson with Genevieve and her sweet horse , Zuni. It was a wonderful experience in a beautiful location.

Genevieve is amazing! My daughters just had their first lesson with her and can't wait to go back. My youngest was a little nervous at first since she'd never been on a horse before but Genevieve has this soothing demeanor that made my daughter feel so comfortable that she forgot her fears and just enjoyed the whole experience. Kids and horses love her and when you meet her you'll see why. If you want a really personalized experience, she's the one to go to.
