On approximately 7/1/2024, I sought out a contractor to upgrade our swamp cooler to refrigerated air and upgrade our heating system. We did some research and gathered quotes from several contractors, but ultimately chose to go with MGP Mechanical located in Albuquerque, NM.I had located MGP through PNM's Registered Cooling Program partner list. I had also done extensive research to verify the company's reputation which all seemed great. Mr. Gerald Peralta, the owner, was the person who came out to our home to do an assessment of our current system and offer quotes to upgrade the system. Mr. Peralta offered 3 different quotes for differing tiers of energy efficiency ranging from low to high. Three quotes were provided with the lowest tier priced at ~$13k, the medium tier at ~$15k, and the highest efficiency being offered at $16.5k.Mr. Peralta explained to me that if I were to purchase the highest dollar/most energy efficient system, I would then, in turn, become eligible for all the rebates and incentives out there. There were a few rebates and incentives that Mr. Peralta knew of off the bat, but he mentioned that it was up to me to seek out the rebates on my own as he was unsure of everything that was out there and couldn't offer any specifics on amounts. He did have a light understanding of the federal incentives, but mentioned I would have to seek out a CPA to learn the exact amounts based on my income. Luckily, I happen to be a CPA, so I mentioned this to him. Even though he wasn't familiar with more than a few of the rebates, he did assure me that the highest priced/highest efficiency system would at least check the box to be eligible for any rebate out there. This assurance was made verbally and is also loosely on the quotes he provided. I relied upon his statement of this system being eligible for any tax/incentive out there.I went ahead and chose MGP over several other contractors, even though they were not the cheapest option. Mr. Peralta's assurance that this system would qualify for all available rebates and incentives was the deciding factor. I knew that even though the system was ~$16.5k, I would be getting some assistance in the form of money back through rebates and tax deductions that would help offset the cost. I am a married father of 3 young child and have not been immune from the ever-rising cost to live. A ~$16.5k heating and cooling system is a BIG deal to me financially.MGP were true professionals in their installation service and quickly completed the instal to what I believe is a very high standard. The issues began when I started seeking out and applying for the rebates. I quickly came to learn that the system Mr. Peralta represented to me as "checking the box to qualify" for all the rebates and incentives was not qualifying for anything I sought out. Even the rebates Mr. Peralta knew of and noted on the invoice recently got denied. To date the following are rebates and amounts that I've been declined for due to Mr. Peralta's fraudulent represetation of facts regarding the energy efficiency of the system.York Manufacturer Rebate: $275York Manufacturer Rebate: $150NM Energy Minerals & Natural Resources Department Rebate: $1,000PNM Heat Pump Rebate: $400I was also shocked that with MGP being part of PNMs Registered Cooling Parter program that he didn't advise me to get a home energy check up prior to the install. This along with the false statement of facts regarding efficiency, caused me to be ineligible for the PNM rebate above.Once I found out about these rebates gettin denied, I immediately emailed MGP asking that they replace the system they installed with one which will qualify at their cost (it was their fault and should do this free of charge). The second remedy I proposed was for them to refund the amounts I was denied for. I have not heard back from that email I sent on 8/12/24. They are also not answering another request I sent for a manufacturers certificate.Don not trust these guys. He is quick to take your money. A true snake oil salesman with zero integrity. To Gerald and MGP, you may dodge, lie, and deflect, but God sees all and you will be held accountable at some point. I pray for you.

We have used MGP Mechanical for two complete HVAC replacements (one of which was to replace an evaporative cooler system) and to get a new water heater. Their service has always been exceptional: They show up when they say they will, communicate clearly, and deliver what they promise on time and on budget. Their work is neat and professional, and they clean up afterwards. Recently we had a small problem (not their fault) with the HVAC system they installed early this spring, and they had a tech out within an hour or so to fix it, which he did promptly and with no charge. It's a pleasure to deal with a contractor this professional and effective.

I contacted MGP Mechanical after much research and a recommendation to repair a bathroom plumbing leak under the slab. They suggested I hire a professional leak locator which was helpful in minimizing the tear out of the floor and wall. From the first phone call to completion of the repair, MPG calmed my fears and took care of it like pros. Kevin is very knowledgeable, and his approach was minimally invasive. He was able to remove the vanity, cut out some drywall, open the concrete floor without using a jackhammer and preserved the vinyl flooring. Once the repair was complete, he covered the hole with dirt and concrete and replaced the drywall. The next morning, the vanity was replaced and recaulked. The original old pipe was only covered with thin plastic. After Kevin replaced the damaged pipe, he completely wrapped it with thick insulation and tape. That was impressive! I decided to have the work done as time and material which can get expensive, yet for this 9 hour project, the total cost was very reasonable and completely detailed on the invoice. I haven't used MPG for HVAC yet, but I plan to in the future. This company is an absolute gem. They are competent, professional, trustworthy, respectful and affordable - which is a rare combination.

Kevin from MGP Mechanical did my Seasonal change over, making sure everything in my cooler was a go. He also took care of the outside hose bib which needed replacing. This which was not an easy task as it was old and rusted. Kevin got it done and I am very happy to have my cooler ready for the hot weather ahead. I'm glad I called MGP for this job.

I needed a plumber, I had a couple of leaks. They replaced the pipes under my kitchen sink , the plumber picked out a nice faucet at Home Depot . They replaced the faucet and the pipe in my wall . The plumber swapped out our old pvc pipe and upgraded it to newer pipes. After using the jack hammer the plumber filled every thing back up with concrete. On top of all of this the plumber used an augur and got a few pounds of what looked like building material out of my line. This all was more affordable than I had thought it would be. My husband is Very personable and asked them to clear the line. The way you interact with people, and questions you ask about your work being done are Extremely important . You know your home better than a stranger. Speak up, be friendly , and your job should get taken care of correctly. Carlos was the Best plumber our family could have received. Thanks Carlos and Kevin for the work you did in my home.

Beware of MGP Mechanical's reviews! They requested multiple times that I give them a review "BEFORE" they did any work! These requests came after their "Estimate". Make sure they get the necessary permits and inspections! Even though they listed permits on their estimate - they did the work without any permits! When I would ask about a permit, the agent told me he would take care of it. I tried to reach the company owner, Gerald Peralta, but he did not return my messages or calls. I finally had to stop payment on the check to get a response. I am so thankful I insisted on the permits and inspections as the electrical to the new refrigerated air conditioner unit was not wired with the proper wiring and could have caused a problem in the future. His electrician had to rewire the unit two more times before it passed inspection. When dealing with Mr. Peralta he insinuated I wasn't being honest, but as it turned out, Mr. Peralta was the one not being honest with me. He did not take responsibility for problems but instead gave excuses.
