The city of Albuquerque (and the sign) say that this is McDuffie Park. However, locals know it as "Hidden Park"...and for good reason. This is an awesome place to get some alone time and feel kinda like you're in Narnia. You can't park in a parking lot and roll right up. You have to park right outside someone's house and then look for a small path that leads to the hidden cache of green and shade. When you're there, you can't see any streets (or people usually); It is completely surrounded by peoples' back yard walls. I have a special love for this park because my husband took me on our first date so that we could have some peace and quiet to chat. Nine months later, he proposed at Hidden Park.

If you're looking for a hidden oasis for you, your furry friend, and the whole fam, look no more (or, keep looking if you have yet to find the entrance). This green space was recently renovated and is one of the best parks in the city, in my estimation. Old growth trees and the surrounding homes provide plenty of shade while you relax or play. I recently adopted a dog and am busy finding all of the pooch-friendly spaces in the city - this gem is a must do with Fido

Can you even find Hidden Park, can you find the path that leads to Hidden Park and can you find the path that leads from Hidden Park to Bataan Park? That' s the Hidden Park. This is the place to find solitude, quiet peacefulness. Great place for Tai Chi, yoga, meditation.

Okay people, like, I get the whole nostalgia thing, but five stars for Hidden Park?I, too, have fond memories of this little green patch in the center of an otherwise completely bland residential neighborhood. My memories surround college, I lived in a house around the corner. Hidden Park-er, McDuffie Park-was a great place to walk the dog, relax in the shade or make out with someone I'd just met on a starry night. College, you know. Hoping to reclaim a little of that lost innocence, I recently chose to picnic here with my mother, family and an overpriced bag of take-out from Whole Foods. It was astonishing how Hidden the place really was; I swore I'd be able to find the little path to get in, but I couldn't remember where it was and, as I had a decade back, I asked a neighbor. We enjoyed ourselves. it was fun to sit on a blanket under an elm tree and enjoy an Albuquerque evening. But the place doesn't have a playground, people. No paths, no facilities, it's just a big square patch of grass. Getting a little generous with our stars, aren't we?

McDuffie is a unique park, the city's only hidden park! Pros: It is close to UNM and other schools like Jefferson Middle- distances from Central campus: 3 min drive, 8 min bike ride, 30 min walk.-Although it's hidden, there are 7 entrances, making it easy to access.-It is a good size: 13,000 sq ft.-It's secluded: good for intimacy & peace; in a quiet neighborhood w/ kind residents.-It has several strategically placed benches-It supports wildlife: there are several tree species which provide shade, ~41 different bird species (including roadrunners!)-There are weekly happenings! (such as tai chi classes)-Dog park: It's practically fenced in, there are water bowls placed by a resident-A place to play soccer, read a book, walk your dog, have a picnic, study or meditate, or simply RELAX! -It has a HUGE Free Little Library- free books! or a place to donate old books.Cons: There is no parking lot available, only street side parking.-The neighborhood it's in is close to known crime district.-It is not easily discoverable. (thank goodness for these reviews!)-It has a lack of amenities: no playground, no restrooms, no picnic tables.-There are lots of mosquitos (especially in summer)-Many owners let their dogs off the leash.-The park prohibits glass containers/alcohol-Hard balls (baseballs, etc) are prohibited in the park.OVERALL: McDuffie is good for the average park-goer, its entrancing location makes it FUN!
