La Sierra (I call it, Cow in the Basket), the dishes are very delicious, served quickly and hot off the stove by friendly and attentive staff. "Free chips & salsa"! This is exactly what you need if you're looking for genuine southwestern New Mexican cuisine. Prices for combo dishes can range from $10 to $20. This is a small venue and the only restaurant of it's own kind so they can pay attention to their valued customers, old and new. This restaurant has been an Albuquerque staple for decades. This little joint is a must eat when you come to. My go to is the cheese enchiladas with red chile but if course there's spicy Hatch green chile or ask for "Christmas" - both red and green chile! Atmosphere is rustic, low lit with mirrored walls. A small variety of brew is available.Delicious! My family and I consider this our go to on the Westside. Stop by and try it.

Mac's La Sierra is kinda a hole in the wall, but also kinda not. You've either been going there your whole life, or never even heard of it. If you never lived in the area or knew anyone who did, you probably never ate here. That was the case for me.Now I like to venture over for a few things. It's worth it for these three things, in my opinion of course. The salsa. The steak fingers. And most importantly, the grilled chicken breast & enchiladas plate! It is my favorite thing on the menu! The grilled chicken breast is flattened and fried up on the grill and sits atop the enchiladas, that are of course smothered in red chile. If you haven't had that, get it. And, you'll be happy to hear that they do partake in the coveted sopapillia! So that is always a treat!

This place is special and if you want to truly enjoy a piece of Albuquerque's food culture,!then you really need to visit Mac's where you will be treated to incredible family service and some of the most delicious and authentic New Mexico dishes in town. The location, setting, and layout is perfectly inviting. The posole is so good that I'd say it sets the standard for excellence.

We were a group of 4 that went to brunch on Saturday. The service was fast and friendly, food solid and the atmosphere was authentic. I shared the chicken fried steak and it was delicious. Exactly what one would expect. My companiona got hevis rancheros with green Chile and they said it was good (they are from NM chile country). One nice touch was that the waitress knew my husband and I were sharing so separated the plates and brought 2 sopapillas. Will definably go back.

If the food was better it would be amazing. The customer service was great. I hadn't been here in about 15 years. From what I remember it was amazing authentic home cooked food. I went in Saturday and was utterly disappointed to say the least. I got steak fingers they were made with ground beef and were really tiny. My bowl of soup came cold and the fries were cold and soggy.

Timeless is a way to put it.. although sometime between my last visit and now they have upgraded to led lighting.. so that was different. Food was still great even close to the end of the night, green chile is really good flavoring, this place has stood the test of time and if it was nearby id go more.

New Mexican cuisine at its best. You can get almost anything here, and it will be served quickly. But I wouldn't get anything but a New Mexican plate. It's a hole in the wall, but that's the best part. Don't be surprised if the place is full even on a weeknight. Once seated though, you'll get your food pretty quick.

I want to keep this place a secret because it's my new usual weekend breakfast spot! If you get there early morning, you actually get deals on their specials. Mexican Polish sausage is my go to! Smoked sausage sautéed with onions and jalapeños (seeds in so sometimes you get a super shot of HOT and SPICY). Accompanied with the perfect crusted hashbrowns (sooooo perfect) and eggs!Biscuits and gravy are yummy, biscuits are fluffy and melty in your mouth YUM!
