I've lived in burque on and off for 30+ years and I just recently went swimming there, I've been to Los altos dog park and skate park many times and yet I've never known there was a pool??!!?? Well I know now. Its a fairly large indoor salt pool. Lots of kids, of course, and adults both having fun in the open swim area to the swimming lanes. Los altos swimming pool also has a children's pool which is just outside of the main pool. Life guards on hand keeping everyone on track, especially those who like to run. This pool offers morning and evening low impact exercising classes as well as therapy classes. Very reasonable prices as well as the prices for classes. I plan on attending this pool frequently since I'm a fish at heart and simply LOVE water. I've also decided to take classes as well. (Review on classes soon to come) so looking for a place to cool off in the heights? Don't mind being splashed in the face with water? Give los altos a chance it just might be a pool for you!

My favorite indoor pool. it was redone a few years ago so the lockerrooms are so much better than they used to be. Sadly, the staff could do a better job of keeping them clean, but they're not disgusting or anything. The pool is 25 meters, not yards, which is nice. The water is the warmest of all the pools which is great for someone who hates cold water. Sometimes in the winter, the air can get too cool (true of all city pools), so even though the water is warm, the air is not (sometimes). Still overall the best pool in the city for lap swimming. Wish they had better hours but that's a staffing issue and hopefully that will get better.

The locker rooms are very basic as you'd expect for a public rec site, but the indoor pool itself is pretty great. Consistently busy. Water seems about half salt, half chlorine, nice warm temp, nine lanes. Great lifeguard staff. Swimmers are very friendly here and open to sharing lanes at peak time. The building is tucked behind the skate park and the ABQ Garden Center. Tons of parking. The facility has posted that Los Altos will break ground on a new indoor pool in early 2017. The lifeguards are kinda Nazis, they will kick you out for wearing basketball shorts, but you can tell they know their stuff... constantly yelling at brats and adults alike. Locker rooms are terrible, disgusting, just as one would expect from a government run facility. Also the roof is falling in thank Gd they are renovating that place. They won't let you in just to shower, apparently they had some incident in the past. Area is not the greatest, and try not to go after dark or operating hours, you may see a drug deal go down or teenagers trying to park in the lot stopping your drug deal....what? Do not go to that pool expecting fun... it will not happen. But I'm giving it 5 stars due to all the great stories from that place... You see some weird stuff, from guards shooting rubber bands at each other to skunks running around the facility. For whatever reason as much as that pool sucks, it has this weird draw that will make me always want to go back for more. Water exercise can either be great or the worst thing imaginable., depending on which idiot teenage you get teaching your class. It can also be loud as balls due to the general public on the other end acting like a bunch of fools. One time I was there and some lady brought her giant ass "service dog" in which threw up in the entry way... guards just looked sickened cleaning it up. The surrounding park has some characters too, one time rolling up for my lap swim there was a lady just walking around butt ass naked... I'll never forget that stuff. Its super easy to scam the system around there too, you can either just sneak in or buy a senior admission and go do exercise on the low...or just use the same expired pass for forever until one teenager notices. Occasionally everyone will have to get out due to some sort of mock emergency, but just ask the guards if you can get in to finish your set... they'll love that.... Occasionally you'll find alcohol bottles in the locker room, normal stuff people gotta have fun somehow at that place. I'm honestly just surprised the dilapidated building hasn't fallen in yet. Happy they are remodeling it, but I think it may take away the pleasure and character and bring people who actually have better things to do than complain about water temp or kids taking swim lessons to lap swim over there. Always a great story. RIP LAP.
