Executive 9-hole course review:Very reasonably priced and the course is well maintained. Gas golf cart is optional or you can walk. Par 29 with some bunkers. Driver should not be needed here. Although the starter told me "no cart paths exist so just keep off the greens", but I was approached by the golf course Marshall around the 5th hole telling me I was getting too close to the greens in my cart - I was a good 30 feet away from the closest green! Anyway, he said I needed to be at least 30 yards from the green. Really dude? Anyway, I might have given the course a 5-star review if not for that discussion. Greens aren't the best, they could be worse. The rest of the course is very nicely maintained.

Bang for your buck! Isn't that pretty much what we're all after these days? The value to dollar comparison. Obviously thinking back whether or not you got your money's worth can frustrate the best of us, but I believe it crosses just about everyone's mind despite the tax bracket we fall in. So, if value is a concern, then muni courses obviously serve a great purpose, don't they? Especially if you're a beginner, the last thing you want to do is drop serious dough at a high end course when you're barely able to get that little white demon ball straight down the fairway. Look, with the exception of some, I'd venture to write even the vast majority of professional golfers paid their dues at various muni courses across the country. They're there for a reason, and I'm certainly glad they are. My daughter, wife and I (all beginners) played the executive par 3 9-hole and had a frustratingly great time! Relatively cheap, flat and straight. We walked it for the extra exercise aspect, and really enjoyed our day. If you're also a beginner, consider playing best ball like we did to help things move along a little faster. Whether just hitting some balls on the driving range, or actually playing, I know we'll be back plenty. And you might want to go burn a few calories too. Cheers!

We reserved and celebrated my grandfather's 80th birthday here. We had the pleasure of working with Jamie and Tom. Both are amazing staff of the golf course and they made our event run so smoothly. I highly recommend having your next function which needs a reception hall here! It's beautiful, easy access and great staff! Plus if you like to golf, they have some incredible green!

I don't play a lot of golf so this is a perfect place for me to play. It's not to difficult compared to a lot of other courses in the area. If you like to walk the course, this is a good one to walk. Pretty flat and not a lot of empty space between holes. There are also a number of trees throughout the course so you can get into shade during a hot day. The course was in beautiful shape as the city tournament had just been held right before we played. The course employees are friendly as are the patrons on the course. They seem to have a decent food and beverage service but they don't have a cart that drives around while you are playing. We always have a nice experience at this course!

I base my experience on the par 3 executive course. We play this to work on our iron game and it's a blast. Never crowded, reasonably priced. I enjoy it.

I'm a total n00b when it comes to golf so I don't really know what qualifies as "bad" or "awesome" in a golf course. HOWEVER, as someone who has recently tried their hand at picking up the game, this is a good starter course that is not too intimidating.Rather than just swinging at the driving range, a friend recommended we try the short course here (9 hole "executive" is what they call it). Two things that made it awesome for me were 1) easy (most holes were par 3s and a couple of 4s) and straightforward 2) it was the right price (around $13).I know how the scoring goes but every time in the past when I thought about playing golf, visions of Happy Gilmore pranced through my head. I'm much more an aggressive sport kinda girl. A sport that requires focus, accuracy, and consistency seems like it would frustrate me in 5 seconds flat. It's a disaster waiting to happen at least where I'm concerned. Not that any random person reading this review cares that I yell at the ball if it doesn't go where it's supposed to ("GO HOME, BALL! YOU TOO GOOD FOR YOUR HOME?!"), the executive gave me a good feel for the game. While my score was atrocious (i stopped counting....), I think I may actually keep trying. So, all in all, if you're looking for a quick game just to get out or you're just starting and 18 holes will take you the better part of a week to finish, I can recommend the 9 hole course. If you know what you're doing, the 9 holes will be a breeze. When I know more about what I'm talking about and 8 year olds don't pass me on the course, I can update. :-)

Played a round on the 18 hole course in mid-February. Course is well maintained and really enjoyed the layout. The fairways are pretty wide on most holes with a good mix of moderate to challenging holes. Living in Amarillo I always enjoy the views of the mountains while golfing in Albuquerque. The staff was friendly and I look forward to playing again, highly recommend.

So one of my goals is to do a "Golf Courses on Route 66" story. I've always been intrigued by the old "Route 66" hi way and thought it would be a fun take off of a widely used theme. Los Altos Municipal golf course is right off I-40 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It's about 30 minutes from downtown and from Albuquerque international airport. It's a muni course, well kept and playable by all degrees of golfers. Smack dab in the middle of the course is a 9 hole chip and putt course that you can literally play on your lunch hour.I got my first "How to hit a Driver" lesson on this course and still love the feel of the course, especially in the fall. Now New Mexico ( particularly Albuquerque ) does not have the fiery reds and orange fall colors but the cottonwoods turn a beautiful gold and a few of the willows pick up a burnt red color. Fall is beautiful for golf. Somehow the air seems more calm and the grass still has a bright green color. Prices are very good, and the club house and restaurant have very good service. I have to be honest and say that most times, I didn't eat on the course but that's because I really like some of the local foodie spots.So. If you've read my reviews on other courses, you know that I try to write about value deals over resort/elite playing conditions. Los altos is a great value course. Expect a few crowds during the weekends but have some patience, enjoy the fall scenery and hit it pure. Go have some fun.

Grill food was not good. Ordered chicken enchiladas and they used yesterday's grilled chicken. It was nasty.

I like the course! But I find the employee behind the counter to be rude and patronizing. Showed up this morning and asked if we could play the back nine. Checked the front 7th and 8th green when I drove in. Was rudely told it wasn't happening. Played the executive course instead. Nobody teed off the back nine until we teed off on the 8th hole of the executive course. A little customer courtesy would go a long way at Los Altos. The gentleman behind the counter needs to improve his attitude or work where he doesn't have to interact with the public.
