Today I needed some comfort food, which means, to me, New Mexican. Albuquerque has plenty of options in this category, ranging from small chain restaurants to established, expensive eateries. Fixing for something close by, I took the short drive down Avenida Cesar Chavez, over the river, to Lollie's.This was my second visit, and I had a good idea what I wanted. My girlfriend and I decided to split a couple of plates, opting for a smothered breakfast burrito and an order of huevos rancheros. We munched on chips and (delicious!) salsa while we waited. First, I started in on the huevos, over medium, with red chile. This is a humble breakfast choice; the papas and pinto beans are filling without contributing too much flavor. They cooked my eggs just right, and I enjoyed mopping up yolk and red chile with a flour tortilla. We swapped plates and I started in on the burrito. Full of eggs, papas, bacon, and ham, each bite was a perfectly balanced combo of flavors and textures. Then I tried some of the green chile: game changer. So delicious. This is an expert-level sauce, and it made the burrito even better. Just wow. You've got to eat here to believe it. Call in an order if you must. There's a $10 card minimum; cash is the way to go. Great service and delicious food, at extremely reasonable prices.

Not sure Lollie's is worthy of the 4.5 star rating they currently enjoy on Yelp, especially with the relatively low number of reviews. But I would say there are some definite positives going for this place. For starters, the chips and salsa were legit. House fried thick cut tortillas were perfect for scooping up the house salsa. Even though the salsa was a hybrid of bulk food service tasting stuff from a Sysco truck, it did also have some freshly chopped veggies which gave it some heft. I always appreciate when a place adds in fresh veggies to their salsa. And kudos to our servers for bringing a few baskets of the chips.I was told the only reason to come to Lollie's was their "world famous" pozole (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pozole). I've had pozole at lots of different place in the Southwest including Texas and Arizona, and Lollie's version is damn tasty. What makes a good pozole for me is of course the broth and the quality of the hominy. The hominy had good chew without being tough and was stewed long enough to absorb the flavor of the pork. Squeeze in some lime wedges to amp up the flavor profile. And be sure to ask for toasted bread for sopping up the dish. And order the small size, since the "large" is big enough for THREE servings. The interior is nothing fancy and this is definitely a "blue collar" crowd here, so don't expect any BMWs or Hummers in the parking lot. But I'm always on the hunt for local "hole in the wall" places when visiting a new city, and Lollie's definitely fits that description.

I really liked Lollie's the first time I went there but me and my foodie friend were already so full when we got there so I didn't really get to indulge. Well I finally went back and I feasted! The chile here is really good especially the red. I had a bacon double cheese burger and taco burgers! The service is good and the prices are about average. I will definitely be back soon!

It's only open till 2 PM, we finally caught it open. Lollie is kind and has an obvious love for what she does. We had a wheel chair with us, she came and opened the door so we could get in and welcomed us with such warmth. The server was attentive to our needs and Lollie came around several times to check on us.Delicious, authentic New Mexican food. Very affordable with portions that will fill you. Thank you!

We stumbled upon Lollies to hear Robyn Christian sing in their restaurant. Great artist by the way.Now let's get to the food. Tamale plate was yummy! Their arroz con leche was some of the best I've tried. The meat in their steak tacos was flavorful and tender. I'm glad we tried this little gem in the South Valley. Ooohh.... and the staff? Every single staff member was super friendly and on top of their game. Their restaurant gives off that homey and cozy feeling ... kinda like your inside grandma's casita.

From out of town and according to yelp it says they close at 3pm. We got here with a little over an hour to spare. Walk in and told they are closing so they turned us away. So rude. They really need to update their yelp hours. Go get better Mexican food elsewhere.

I'm not a super big fan of Mexican type food so I'm probably not the best person to judge Lollie's, but I will say that what we had for lunch today was overall good and tasty, and what we were in the mood for. Plus the delivery was quick, I got updates via text on where the delivery was and how much time was left until it made to our hotel, etc. Overall great experience with ordering and we thought the prices were reasonable too. Husband had one of the lunch combo plates (didn't get to try and of his cause he devoured it) and I had combo fajitas. The fajitas were, well, fajitas! There was a normal amount of meat on the plate, not too much but certainly not too little (right for the price) could've used maybe a bit more veggies in my opinion since those tasted so good. The guacamole on the side tasted really delicious too (not sure what else it had in it different than regular guac but I loved it) and I, who normally don't care much for rice, really enjoyed the rice that came with the fajitas. Honestly the food just reminded me very much of Tex-Mex; I am probably being very ignorant and don't understand the difference... but I can say that if you're in the mood for Tex-Mex (which I guess is very similar to New Mexican) then Lollie's may be worth a try.

I've been coming to lollies for years and figured now would be a good time to give a proper review. You always get a nice greeting when you enter, the place is clean and the food is delicious! The first thing you'll notice is the chili is just a little hotter, spicier than most. I think it's due to the neighborhood, it's in the old/original part of town. As a result, the prices are pretty reasonable.Today we got stuffed sopapillas ala-cart. One with beans and green chili, the other with carne adovada. In past visits I've tried the enchilada plate, the tacos, a couple of burritos, you just can't go wrong with just about everything here. And they keep the complementary salsa and chips coming. They have daily specials a senior m, you can order ala-cart, kids menu.Just about every visit we get a personal greeting from the owner, Lollie herself and the wait staff is very friendly.

"Hey honey, I see you're really liking my salsa, I thought I should bring you some more and a fresh plate of chips. I'm glad you like it."Agh, I'm four stars, bending, bending... yep, five.Forgive me, I'm the type of person who simply melts for syrupy sweet customer service. Say what you want about the cuisine scene of ABQ, when it comes to honest-to-goodness authentic service, the south valley kills anything the rest of the city delivers. Lollie's is exhibit A. The moment I walked in the door, three employees greeted me, and they didn't just spit it out and move on, they said Hello. How are you? Sit anywhere you like. Friggin' locked on me. You will Love it here (no, they did not say this, but that was inherent). And I did.As quoted at the top, Lollie herself came and refreshed my cuppa salsa, and I watched her visit all of her tables during my visit. Our waitress also owned this badass truck stop service vibe wherein she would, like, pop by every now and then, say something cute or funny, and walk away. The food landed and it wasn't incredible, but I got what I wanted: a huge gutful of tacos the way they should be, shells deep fried probably in vegetable oil (have you noticed that most restaurants serve those lame-o corn things out of a box? Not here), green chile "sauce" (could've been better), and my wife's stuffed sopapilla -- just look at the photo -- LEGIT. Baked? Chewy carne adovada. The food was good, but the service, man. You're gonna fall for this place if you're a people person. You're gonna feel obligated to be a regular. And I don't know the story behind the posting on the mirror, but I had the impression that a goddess had recently passed away. Also, the credit card machine was down, so -- in case you need an initiation to the Valley -- it's always good to carry some cash on hand.
