This is a lesser know wildlife refuge just north of Socorro, New Mexico. The property is part of the Bernardo Waterfowl Management Area and many migrating birds are here during the winter months. The Bernardo Waterfowl Area is special as it contains a three (3) mile vehicle tour loop and three elevated viewing and photography platforms. This area is located north of Socorro on Interstate 25, Exit 175.When we went we saw a lot of sandhill cranes and other birds. There is no fee to enter the refuge and there is a dirt road loop that you can drive. The road can be bumpy but is decent enough for most vehicles.
