Used all the red chili, and a few drops of the high test habanero ghost pepper. Mega scovilles.

What a gem of a place! The food was wonderful. We got the paella, crab enchiladas, fajitas, sopapillas, and tres leches. My foodie friend from Dallas said it was one of the best restaurants he's been to.The service was also fantastic. My friend accidentally left her leftovers behind and the server ran downstairs and outside to bring them to us.Definitely worth checking out!

This place is fabulous!! The crab or seafood enchiladas were amazing!! FULL of fresh meats and topped with one of the best sauces I've ever had. Anywhere. The calamari was also fantastic and fresh....if you like fresh seafood w a Mexican flare...GO HERE!! Really recommend and can't wait to visit again! (I would skip the queso next time...)It's upstairs above an Italian place, has great patio seating!! Dog friendly. Not a lot of space inside to sit. Service was phenomenal. Go try it!

My companion and I decided to head to La Terraza house for dinner on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. We wanted to enjoy the lovely view of Taos Mountain and a nice summer evening. The restaurant sits on the second floor of the food hall. You enter the building, go up the stairs and are greeted by the hostess who will seat you inside or on the terrace. The hostess was very nice and immediately sat us at our choice of tables on the terrace. My companions ordered the chicken fajitas and the chicken mole enchiladas while I had the stuffed sopapilla. We also wanted to try the Ceviche Acapulco and ordered same. The Ceviche Acapulco arrived quickly with the drinks and was stuffed full of shrimp and calamari. We all remarked at the amount of shrimp. The sauce was a surprisingly sweet and was made better with the squeeze of the lime. The appetizer could have made a meal and was very good. The entrées arrived shortly thereafter, and we're all delicious. The chicken fajitas had a interesting sauce. It was like a ranchero sauce and really enhanced the beef. We all agreed that the fajitas were the belle of the ball. The chicken mole enchiladas were also very flavorful. My companion likes a very robustmole so these were not her favorite but we're very good. I enjoyed my chicken stuffed sopapilla and would definitely try the ground beef next time.We enjoyed the meal, the company, and especially the view.

Dog Friendly terrace with fantastic views but no music and LOTS of noise from the boulevard. Music inside is typical Tejano.Giselle gave nice, friendly, if not a little flustered service. I'd have tipped better, but had to transfer funds from the tip jar to pay 0.50 x 3 corn tortillas. This is also a place where chips and salsa ain't cheap, and therefore I skipped it. They have no happy hour.Food, Christmas green/red chili over chicken blue enchiladas topped with soft fried egg. Sadly bland.

This was a fine restaurant. They have a large upstairs patio and serve fabulous food. Diego and Mariah were excellent, helpful and friendly servers.I ordered the special, a seafood enchilada with lobster, for a surprisingly low price of $19. The sauce was a jalapeño based and only a little bit spicy. I like a little bit more heat and when I asked, they brought me two sauces on the side, - one the red chili style found in many NM restaurants and another which came with a warning label from the servers based on habaneros and ghost peppers. Fans of the hot ones will appreciate this as perhaps a level eight or nine. It's something that really put it in the right place, but only in small doses. I suggested they might want to serve it in a thimble with an eyedropper because that's about how much you need, but it did give you that satisfying afterburn. It's not completely obvious how to get into the restaurant, but you have to go up some stairs that are adjacent to another restaurant downstairs. Not impossible to find but keep looking if you have trouble.

$9 for queso. It looks and tastes like canned queso. Even the nacho cheese from the movie theaters taste better than this queso. My entree was fried fish tacos. It was crispy, but it tastes like they used the wrong kind of fish for the tacos. The fish was too sweet for tacos. Service was good and fast though.

Visited for lunch on December 23rd. We shared two dishes, a bowl of posole and seafood enchiladas. The posole was served in a large bowl with a side of house made tortilla chips which were perfectly salted. Not over salted. The posole had a good amount of tender, lean meat and was a healthy serving. The seafood enchiladas were delicious. Shrimp, fish, lots of bay scallops and a delicious chipotle cream sauce which had a good amount of kick to it. The enchiladas were served with sides of rice and beans both of which were good. We asked about the desserts of the day even though we probably had eaten enough all ready but couldn't resist the house made tres leches cake. I am so glad we got the cake. It was absolutely delicious. The filling and frosting was fluffy and not too sweet. The balance of flavors was perfect. We will definitely be back as there are several other things on the menu we are interested in trying. Nice outdoor and indoor space. We chose indoor since it was a bit chilly.

I wasn't impressed with this place. The first thing you notice is the general ambiance, which is pretty lacking- at least on the inside. Outside might be better. The second thing- to no fault of the people working there- there were only two people running tables. I actually think there may have only been three or four people working total. There were no table bussers, so there was a huge wait for tables as we were leaving because even though they were "empty," they weren't clean. Our waiter actually left in the middle of taking our order to do something else. I know it wasn't their fault they were short-staffed, but it was still a weird experience. So, not good service, but also seemingly not their fault. The food was...significantly lacking. I got veggie enchiladas and the flavor was okay, but they were pretty crispy and the tortilla was almost tough. There was almost no cheese. The cheese enchiladas looked worse, though. Very dry. Shrimp tacos and mole looked better. We did order chips and queso, but didn't get it until after we got our food. I think it was forgotten about (which wasn't the only error with an order). Queso wasn't bad, just average, and we didn't get a lot of chips...yet it was like $9.As I mentioned, it was pretty crowded with people waiting as we were leaving, but I'm not sure if that's because people genuinely like the food and they were returning, if they came on a recommendation, or if it was because this was one of maybe four restaurants open at the time (Labor Day weekend). Overall I wouldn't recommend or go back.

We love eating at La Terraza de Taos. The food is always delicious. The gentleman was working tables alone and did a fine job. He acknowledged everyone and was friendly with everyone. We had chicken fajitas and carne adovada. Very tasty yet not too spicy for me. I'm particular about rice and theirs is really good. We will return.
