This is the best d*** food truck. I've had in a long time. The owner is a very cool guy. The food is amazing. It's a must try.

Ok, so I sit here at 9:30pm this coldish evening, sucking air through my teeth and mouth as the heat of the red and green chile sauces continues to sizzle on my taste buds. Hopefully by the time I finish this, the salsitas will have worked their heat out of my taste buds, leaving a pleasant, calming warmth all over. This is a very, very guilty pleasure. Tacos from the truck whenever my mind obsesses over having them. Which is a pretty regular occurrence, damn it. This little truck in the parking lot of a strip mall on Isleta Boulevard at Saunders and Shadyside near the Sonic Drive In is just what the doctor ordered almost any time. Particularly for night runs before you are ready to fix your evening cocktail and are settling in with a movie dvd for the evening. They make hamburgers as you like, sandwiches... but the main reason to visit, park and maybe sit at the fold up tables in front of the truck, are the TACOS. Barbacoa (strip steak), Asada (diced beef), Chuleta (diced, marinated pork), Al Pastor (shredded beef with extra fat)... and more delicious goodness, combined with finely diced onions and cilantro... HEAVEN in the parking lot. You get 4 tacos for $7. At first you think it isn't much, but they are fattily filled, and served on a styrofoam plate with packets of salt and the requisite half lime. But it is really the salsa on the side that will take you into another orbit. Whew! Such a pleasantly painful experience for lips, tongue, mouth in general. I like to just dip into the red (hotter than the green). Because, rest assured, making the mistake of slathering the entire contents of salsa onto the tacos will make you cry at the first bite. Seriously. But even if you don't use the salsa, or use it sparingly, the food is super fresh, super good, and feels healthy. Cleansing, even. Or at least that is what I use to talk myself into making a last minute run over. Like I thought, the pain in my mouth has subsided into a delicious, calming after taste of... happiness. Back to my movie.
