Lived here a year had no problems and I love that the apartment was on a dead end street so it's quiet, and there is no one that doesn't need to be there. The complex is well maintained. I absolutely loved the beautiful greenery and walk ways to walk my pup! Staff was always helpful and friendly! Best priced apartments in the heights! :)

The apartment complex is located on a dead end street. Out of the three gates to enter and exit the property of this dead end street, only one is open, the other two remain permanently locked. Why? I have no idea. This is usually frowned upon in modern society as if a fire were to devastate the grounds it would be a chaotic mess trying to evacuate everyone and the one exit would cause people to bottle neck and congest the exit. Now for staff, the head of maintenance is named Keri. Taller white guy, he treats the tenants who pay to live there like they are a nuisance and he carries himself like he hates his life and everyone else too. He almost hit me once while pulling up in his golf cart well above the speed limit, didn't even acknowledge the event or say anything. if you're reading this Keri you need to reevaluate yourself and life decisions. The other two maintenance personnel are really nice and respectable. Most of the tenants drive through the property well over the speed limit which is 5 mph and should be posted more throughout the property; on top of that the tenants drive in the middle of the road like they paved it themselves. As for the managment staff I think they're friendly. As for the price it is on the higher end not sure why though as even in the heights your car is subject to thievery especially the peddlers who scour the Walmart parking lots next to the apts. The walls are thin. I can hear the upstairs tenants and side tenants quite clearly. Even tenants across the street when they are on the patio. It's concerning to think someone else can hear me pee amongst other things. Since the building were made before the disability act, there isn't much accommodation for handicapped folk. Definitely no elevators. The best thing about these apts are the location. Other than that the aesthetic is a bit outdated considering other apts in Abq.

As someone who has probably viewed almost every apartment complex in Albuquerque, I can say this place is a fantastic option. My fiancee needed help finding a new place to call home, and with his busy schedule, I volunteered to help him find a great new apartment (and he ended up choosing La Paloma out of the many options presented to him). With so many complexes in ABQ either being suuuuuper run down and with old appliances, or newer luxury properties charging exorbitant amounts, he wanted a place with updated amenities at a reasonable price and in a safe, convenient neighborhood... and La Paloma checked off all of those boxes. Their units are clean, contemporary, and updated... and are priced very fairly. The black kitchen appliances, in-unit washer/dryer, balcony, fresh carpets, updated lighting and plumbing fixtures, contemporary flooring and carpet, newer black countertops, canned lighting, ceiling fans, walk-in closets in both bedrooms, and extra linen closets make the units functional and refreshed... exactly what my fiancee was looking for.The grounds really are pristine and the volleyball courts/pools/gym area are all clean and welcoming. They are also within walking distance to a bunch of stores and right by the Academy area's running track, making this a convenient area (you have Whole Foods, Smith's, Wal Mart, Starbucks, restaurants, clothing stores, nail salons, hair salons, etc... all within walking distance).I was really surprised to read some of the complaints written about this complex, however I feel like a lot of people's gripes just have to do with apartment living in general... Are your upstairs neighbors too loud? Welcome to apartment living! You probably should have rented a unit on a top floor like any reasonable person with noise sensitivity...Maintenance issues? Welcome to apartment living! The building is from 1995, so it's natural there will be things that need to be fixed along the way. Luckily the staff here is incredibly helpful and if you have realistic expectations and understand not every maintenance issue is an emergent situation, I don't see how this could be a huge issue. If you're searching for an apartment and basing your opinions on this place solely off of online reviews, I would hiiiiiighly recommend going in and touring the property yourself to meet the staff and see the units in-person (I was definitely pleasantly surprised with this complex!)

The grounds and apartments are beautiful. The rent is too high and security is a joke.My car was broken into three times, I was told to file a police report. Despite having a water bottle that the jerks breaking into the car, nothing was done. The last time, as I don't leave things in the car, they just ripped it up, tore out the handle to the glove box, etc.My ex boyfriends car was also stolen. It was recovered but ripped apart. Even took pieces of the dash and all his tools, which he may never recover. Oh he had to pay to get it out of impound. Also, I had a drug dealer living across the hall. I called and complained repeatable, but again nothing was done. How do I know it was a dealer? Can you think of any other reason strangers pound on the door in the middle of the night, speak to the tenant for less than five minutes and leave?Find another place. Someplace where car break ins and theft aren't normal, for a start. And his car was stolen again last night. Twice in less than a year, from the same parking space. Not even kidding, don't rent here. Unless waking up to vandalized and/or stolen cars is your idea of fun.

Moved in and immediately saw several roaches while I was moving in (during the day). Lots of roaches came crawling out that night and for weeks after. They couldn't spray until the pest people showed up. I guess they can't make exceptions when it's their fault and you spend thousands of dollars to move. They should give me back my pet rent at least as compensation for keeping their roaches. The bathroom shower had mold growing in it and the bottom of the shower has a huge yellow stain that looks like urine. The carpet is old and ugly. The floor had several spots of damage and maintenance always "mansplains" everything to me. Now my rent is going up $278 a month. Save yourself the money and stress. Pass on this place.

La Paloma is, in my experience, very quiet and pretty. The grounds are in excellent shape, the area is beautiful and centrally located. In every way but one, this is the best apartment complex in the city. Unfortunately, the staff of the La Paloma office, and in particular the office manager, is extremely difficult to deal with. She constantly lies and manipulates residents, and speaks down to them with almost cartoonish condescension. In any way that matters, she is the only reason you shouldn't move into this complex. If I could have every single interaction with the office available online or via an app, I would live here forever, and recommend that you should too. Find a place where you aren't punished for living there.

Property is nice but the parking lots are set up for disaster, Only one of the three entrances is ever open, and let me tell y'all about rules. This place acts like their your mom. Not very kid friendly either in my opinion. And super expensive. Better off looking somewhere else honestly...

The residents are allowed to smoke inside the apartment. If your neighbor smokes, your entire apartment gets filled with smoke. The staffs are not helpful, asking to pay for changing rooms within the complex.
